Getting Coached by Big_Rob_48, April 23

Hey guys just wanted to say I am interested in getting coached in poker. I can beat 200 nl for at least 3 pt bb, but what I want to do is be able to beat 400 nl for 3 pt bb which as most of you guys should know takes a much higher understanding of the game and is a huge jump.

Any ideas of coaches? I checked out leggopokers but theirs is ridiculous for rates, i'm not paying $500 an hour (or should I...?). I am also not sure I should just get one coach because I feel it may be important to have diversity because different people can offer different things. Jamie217 is someone I am really interested in so far because he can beat 5/10 and his rate of $200 an hour seems super good. Anyway just wanted to get some advice on coaching I think I am a person who really benefits from it because last time I got coached for about 4 hours by a VERY GOOD coach and it doubled my winrate.

Game selection by NeillyJQ, April 23

I spent the first month in Las Vegas refining my FR game because I am way too lag on the 1/2 tables. After a month of doing so, I reverted back to my regular game, 6max, since its time to start making real money.

I fixed some major leaks I had in fr for when I visit the casino, although I'm mostly an online player and will be mostly just that until I have $18k (then ill put 8k in the cage for 1/2 and leave 10k online)

Now I'm very confident I will be able to win in the casino on a regular basis and at home in my 6max games, time well spent imo.

During my 1st month in Las Vegas, I've learned how bad my ego was, how much I have to learn, humbled myself alot, learned theres a big difference between confidence and ego, and learned that I am NO WHERE NEAR the top MTT players (thx bigred000)

Also got stoned with bigred on 4/20 and listened to a lot of his tournament philosophy, felt like i was a student sitting in a chair listening to a great teacher. Was an awesome experience, although I was really fucking high and alot of it didn't stick, so you better get your ass over here today or this weekend bigred :-)

Ah, heres my graphs so far from online since arriving in Las Vegas.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/c62329d95ea78e7d3e70f49baf5ca756.jpg

Going to continue to grind online until I have 18k like said before, I don't want to be staked anymore by anyone ever again, not for sundays or anything. I only want to do this on my own for now on.

During WSOP time, after I learn more about MTT's from pxfactor and stoxpoker I will start taking MTTs seriously, although I am and always will be a fulltime cashgame player.

(I will sell %'s of me to people stupid enough to buy them! Just playin, I'm sure when the stakes are high and prizes are high I'll be at my 100% best game.)

I won't be going back into the MTT circuit til my online roll gets much larger though, and realize after talking with bigred how much I need to learn to be a competent winning tournament player itlr and not just a lucky donk. :-)

Hrm, lovin vegas

rS.evade has railed me during a session I played yesterday, and found two major leaks I had in my game that I never recognized as leaks for the last years, which will drastically improve my winrate itlr. He also taught me how to use the huds correctly, and am very appreciative for what he has helped me with. I believe that I'm now capable of being a winner on midstakes, but only time will tell.

He also clogged our toilet, lol, someone send a plumber to our apartment plz. Its been like 3 days and still nobody has come to fix it. wtf! Its like im living in the phillipines or something -_-

OK guys, gonna go eat and relax for an hour or so and put in another 1-5k hands

GL LP,
Ryan

So this is what it feels like. by YoMeR, April 23

My results of past 1.5 months or so at NL50 on UB. I've really been struggling with poker for the past year but things are finally starting to pick up. Maybe I'm not sucking as much. But regardless this is what it feels like to run good. Been a while.

Poker has been pretty rough on me as you can see, I went through a huge downswing, then just ran bad. Since all-in EV is usually not an accurate estimation of my true ev, not gonna complain that I should be 5k up. Anyway, just wanted to update you guys on how I'm doing. FYI, this is 100/200nl hu+6max. GL to all of u.

Last picture doesnt do the view judgment though. There is well, 3 windows technically so i can see half of the brooklyn and half of the queens. Unfortunately my camera is rather basic and i definitely dont have a widescreen lens to capture the beauty.

very disappointing imo by ConquistadoR, April 23

this month is very disappointing so far..... didnt reach any of my goal and probably won't. apart from my nice 1k tourney win everything is going quite shitty. I think I will have to re-evaluate my poker career if this doesn't change in the upcoming 2 months.

Future for NBB: Borgata Trip/Vegas Trip by NewBornBaby, April 23

Hey all,

It has been just over a week since tax season has been over and I can finally RELAX. It was definitely a time-pressured season, working nights, working weekends, and dealing with stressed out coworkers but I managed to get through it with just a few bumps and bruises. Now it's time to prep up and study for my CPA. That is sure to be a challenge.

With tax season out of the way, I can put in more volume with poker. I've been on a MTT/Cash Game stake for the past few months and I have yet to BINK anything serious. It has been a struggle to gain some traction but I think with more free time at hand, I can refocus and hopefully have profitable months ahead. Time to put in the grind $$

I'll be staying at the Borgata Water Club over the weekend for some grinding, nightlife, dinners, etc. We have two rooms for Friday (COMPED! ) and one for Saturday, if anyone is around this weekend, hit me up via pm or something.

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc252/GV2007/WaterClub.jpg

On a good note, my boy nutshot has been progressing well in his MTT endeavors. He's binked the 50R and 100R in a matter of 2 weeks. Mad props to him for his HEROISM.

Heroism Song

HEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

WSOP

Me and my friend Mike G are all booked for June 12-June 20th at the WYNN in Las Vegas. I'm probably going to play the June 14th $2500 PLO EVENT and the June 16th $1500 NL EVENT. I was in Vegas last year hanging out at the minicastle mansions in June but never got to enjoy the nightlife too much since I grinded the majority of the time I was there and saw a Penn and Teller show with PoorUser. With a week under my belt I'm sure I'll get to experience all the shows, grinding, etc I need and will eventually get tired by the week end. (probably not) Me and Mike will be meeting up with Steve (PoorUser) and gang and definitely enjoy the likes of SW Steakhouse and the WYNN Buffet. Does anyone have any other suggestions on other nice places to eat? Also, does anyone know what casinos regularly run PLO? (PLO Degen lives!)

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc252/GV2007/wynn.jpg

I'm excited to see the star studded field thats gonna be there in June and all the LP crew members that will be present in June. I'm sure I'll get an opportunity to meet most of you guys.

Gl as always!

Your Always Smiling NIT,

NBB

Start from scratch by NiTE, April 23

After I got rivered for my BR - kindof, I suddenly feel more motivated to play than when I was rolled for NL20.

Not sure about the whys, hows and whats that lead to this, but I'll play poker in the coming time.

After the bankroll incident, I was left with 8 bucks - all I can do is grind NL2. So I did it, played a bit, now I'm at $23.

Anyway, my decision is to use the bankroll managment some of you might call "super agressive" but IMO it's "common sense BR managment". Something that dawned on me a while ago, but I brushed it off coz of not seeing anyone mention it or play by it. That why I was very glad to see Maynard post it here on LP a while ago.

I will play NL2 till I reach $30, then I ship over to NL4, playing 4 tables on both limits.

If I lose a Buyin on NL4, I move down till I'm at $30 again.

I realized there's really no point in griding all those extra buyins as long as you can lean on moving down when necessary.

Some people get 20/50/100 Buyins for the next level before playing it. I'll get 7-8.
If I lose one, I will move down and earn some more, then move up again.

I'd say I have much higher chances of successfully moving up faster than had I grinded the before mentioned 'normal' number of buyins.

When you look at it, you need as many buyins as the number of tables you play, the rest of the money is there for some kind of safety. Safety that I don't need that much.

My safety is that if I lose one buyin at a higher level, I'll still have almost 20 for the level below, which is plenty for the levels I'm currently playing.

Once again, I totally agree with Maynard; if you don't live off of poker, you have a place to stay and food on your table, wasting time securing X number of buyins makes not much sense.

Other than that, I'll try to face all my fears.
Before, in tricky/unusual situations I used to automatically do something, and try to forget what happened, because my not knowing made me uncomfortable.

I will try to eliminate the 'running away from the unknown' problem, try to face the problems and actually learn how to play.

I will also not play too much, I have no reason to put any pressure on myself.
I have some exams to study for in May, so that will be #1 priority. Poker will be something alongside of it.

A chance to learn to play a game that some day may help me to earn an extra buck.

EDIT:
Ok, I gotta use this chance to give a huge shoutout to my man Lucas from www.ballerpoker.com
He goes by the alias 'keuner' here on LP, and he's the one that offered me the deal on propagandapoker in the first place.

Their deal is awesome, you get a good VIP deal which equals to about 40+% rakeback.
However, special thanks to Lucas who was there on msn to answer many of my numerous questions, helped out enormeously with information and direct contact to support when this whole incident with my bankroll happened.

And finally, he gave me a nice $30 bankroll boost (in addition to ~20 I had), so I don't have to hunt for a new free $50 deal.
I ask him something like:
"hey, do you think you could arrange me another bonus so I get back up sooner?"

And within 60seconds, there are 30 additional dollars in my account.

awesome! cheers Lucas if you read this!

I'll go straight to 4tabling NL10 with this $50 I got.
If my BR drops to $40 at any time, I shut down those tables and open 4 NL4 tables.

If I drop below $32 (2 NL4 Buyins), I go to NL2, till I recover a bit.
