Going through a real good time at the moment ;( You know the drill.... Feel pretty tilted about it so stopped playing and writing this. I know play is mostly standard but 1or2buyins ive lost through tilt which I was embarassed about looking back afterwards.
so after looking @ the tournament schedule on cake poker, i cannot see anything thats REALLY attractive. does anyone play tourneys there consistently and if so which tourneys do u play? preferably under 30 bux or so.
also i would like to possibly get a few hundred onto cake poker if possible if anyone can help me.
I had a blog on another site that i rarely updated and really feel like blogging more so i thought this would be a great site to start new.
Quick cliffnotes of my poker history
Started with $150 on UB
Bounced around alot of diffrent sites for diffrent reasons.
Won a $4 180 man sng for $216
Won the $2 128 man HU winner take all on pokerstars TWICE for $250 a piece.
Won a $1 rebuy on UB for $1100 (My luckbox friend had a quarter of my action so i had to send him $275)that i was only in for $1 and acouple hundred ultimate points.
and just recently i won a $2 1 rebuy 1 addon tournament on fulltilt for $480
Right now my BR is at ~$1400 i've been playing alot of holdem both limit and no limit and winning pretty well in both im up alittle over $200 this month in cash games (most of which happened in the last couple days). im down like $50 in tournaments this month though but oh well just have to keep grinding cash games. im hoping to start moving up to $50nl soon so if any other micro-low stakes players wanna talk poker or anything else pm me with your AIM or MSN. Cant wait to see how poker goes the next couple weeks im pretty excited.
So i'm grinding on, up 2-3bi:s for the month and like 16bi:s on rb...However I made a slight withdrawal a couple a days a ago to finance some upcoming events and to try Svenskspel out again. Deposited 200bb and played hu,took 15min before I raised with A4 and hit A42 with fd and gut crushed vs 53...so no more SvenskaSpel again for a while. However yesterday I made a successful comeback in the world of MTT. Decided to play a cheap 2€ rebuy 200€gtd tourney. Made one addon during the first periods and then I was in the lead until the FT. There I made a juicy chiplead with my A4 crushing my opponents and the former chipleads A3. However the hand after I went into the new nr 2:s slowrolled AA on BB when I was SB and I did hit tp so we came all in on turn..lol. Finished in 3rd place out of 109 which I consider pretty ok since I don't do MTT on a regular basis or at all. Was rewarded 56€ for the convenience....
Today I have to hand in a memorandum to one of my bosses so right now I've had an extensive 12min lunch, "kebab and fries". Very nice and greasy..lol. Tomorrow however is a "half-day" so you're allowed to go home 14 if nothing comes up. Then thursday is a holiday thanks to jesus deciding to fly to heaven like 2k yrs ago and us swedes deciding to celebrate that or something in that way..ty jesus.Friday I've have vaccation and Saturday will be hell of a day and night. Me and some friends going to a big ball very you dress like a pinguin in tail coat. The pre-pre-party start 14,pre-party starts at 16 , the dinner at 18, the main party at 22-23, tha after party 04 and the breakfast at 09. It will be a sick long night...
Oh, finding lots of really good vods latelyby Mariuslol, May 19
Really happy with all the good content I'm finding, was really encouraged by the protege series on Bluefire, so I looked through all the other sites as well.
I heard people recommended Vital myth's leak finding ones, so I watched that this morning and I decided to take notes of all the most important stuff.
Gonna copy paste
(Comments/notes to Vital Myth's Leak finder vod on CArdrunners, saw it had gotten a lot of great review, so watching it now. It's 50nl 6max 4 tabling)
- Starts with, in general, people need to start playing more hands
- We play a lot of Axs
- also hands like QJs gonna fair pretty well (people usually don't do to well vs it, you gonna win on a lot of A high, or K high flops) and J and Q flops u have showdown value and you can flop a lot of draws n stuff to
- Squeeze!! (he thinks there's a lot of oppertunities people don't capatalize on) Also say that most ppl squeeze with to big bets, rather make it a bit smaller
- Call IP vs nits!! (almost with any two, 35s, T8 blabla)
- Reason ppl dun get good notes, reads, see good squeeze oppertunities is because they play to many tables! Suggests 4-5 tables. People spent over a year same stakes because "it's not fast enough, they get bored" and don't take the time to just think and play better
- Bet smaller and less frequently (most ppl just play their own card, and dun care how you bet) People don't bluff and hero call as much as you think they do. He feels people bet to large, too hard when they got the board crushed.
- Induce bluff ?? (If we think our oponent is not capable of making bluffs, we wanna bet smaller) Try very hard to induce those 1 barrel bluffs ppl love to do
- Big confusion-spews! Regulars in particular, only spew when you do lines that makes no sense, or when they tilt
- 3/4 into the movie he comes with a bold statement!! 90% of poker is making read. And a discussion about how it might seem he contradicted another cardrunner pro who keeps pestering about betting larger, and he's been talking some about betting smaller, checking, but that's in certain situations, vs certain ppl, and same goes for the betting larger!!
- Recommends 3 betting more in position Arag, KJs, QTs so forth, if it's vs nits, maybe not so much, rather stay away cos they playing premium hands and it can get ugly. If you have read people play a lot of hands, then kinda gives up more, passive or a bit weak, perfect spots as well (Good mentality, as long as it keeps working, he keeps doing it, once it stop working he tends to back off a littlebit)
- Whenever you think there's dead money, attack it, try steal it (Take them small pots) (One of the most common mistakes ppl do)
Oh, that's about it, now I think I need to rest, wait 10 minuts before I do anything else poker related!
I once read in a Tony Buzan book that when you get a lot of information in ur head, it may be clutterd, confusing and not make that much sense right after having gotten it, but if you wait 5-10 minuts your brain makes sense of all the chaos and you have it more aligned up or something!
Oh, and then I think you were suppose to go through ur notes. So gonna do that, wuhu!!
**** UPDATE ****
Ah, had a little under 2 hour session, started out okay. Then I think I started to run bad.
One hand I flopped a set, guy bet, flop something like 23J I just called, turn another J, he bet again, a flush draw came on the table, so I raise it up, we go all in, he has J4o, river 4, so just a cooler.
Then I got my pokertracker working on a new site I switched to.
So I started Day 1B of the 500k Deepstack at Borgata today at 11am, and ended up playing until about 10pm before going busto =[
I had been really cold-decked the entire day, with a lot of big moves on some decent combo draws always missing and a complete lack of any real starting hands to play for about the first 8 hours. The first sign of hope was when I doubled up to about 30BB the hand before the dinner break with AKs shoving over a few limpers and winning a flip against 77. After that I still ran pretty cold, but managed to keep my stack up winning pots without showdowns.
In the end I had about 24k @ 500/1000/100 and raised ATss to 2500 in the CO. Just the BB called, and flop came 929ss. He checks I bet 4k and he snapcalls. Now I'm pretty sure he is on a FD and he MIGHT sometimes have a small PP here. Turn is a 4c and he shoves me in for 17.4k into like 14.5k. I end up calling because I don't want to fold and leave myself to start day 2 with like 10BB, then drive an hour there and back to AC just to shove every hand pre until I bust, and besides I already think I'm ahead a lot of the time anyway. He ends up showing 34ss and holds =[. After that I hung around to watch the table for a bit before finding a 1/2 PLO game, in which I won $390 back in about an hour before going home XD.
Even though I busted, I'm now pretty confident in my play. I managed to last almost the entire day and start day 2 with almost 20BB despite getting verrrrrry few playable hands, and only had to get my stack in once to do it. My reads were also spot on the entire day, and every time I guessed what people had in big hands I was right every time it got to showdown (or was shown down, in some cases). I'm sure if I could ever just get a big hand in a tourney like this while still having a decent stack then I can really do some damage if I keep playing as well as I think I am.
Oh and I got to meet Ari "Bodog Ari" Engel, too. He was in the seat to my left for about the last 8 hours of the day, and he's a pretty cool guy and a REALLY solid player. It was fun watching him play, and I think I learned a little bit from it as well. He was one of the more pleasant table mates...there was this other douchebag who called the clock on me 4 FUCKING TIMES without me tanking for more than a minute before calling the floor. By the third time both Ari and I were kind of verbally annoyed and wondered wtf he was doing. Then he yelled at the dealer for dealing him some stupid cheap bad beat like it was her fault and he stormed out of the poker room for like 15 minutes lol.
<3 teh deepstacked live pokers. Can't wait for WSOP!
has to do with original concessions skew model and Hamilton's rule.
S - pG < r[(1-p)G-L] ---- model
P = [s-r(G-L)]/[G(1-r)] ------ staying incentive
L = Lone dominant productivity
G = Group Productivity
p = Subordinate Share
S = Lone subordinate productivity
The Problem
#1 (I have solved this)
The concessions model of reproductive skew assumes that a dominant female will yield a minimum share (p) of group offspring (G) so that the inclusive fitness of a subordinate female that stays is just equal to the inclusive fitness of a subordinate female that leaves. Let's assume that when the subordinate female leaves she produces (S) offspring and the dominant produces (L) offspring.
When S = 2L and G = 5L what share (p) of group offspring will the dominant have to yield to the subordinate to keep her from leaving? Assume that these two females are diploid mammals that are also half sisters (relatedness = .25)
p = 2L-.25(5L-L) / 5L (1-.25)
p = .266
----------
Problem 2 (having trouble)
Now assume (for the same values of S = 2L and G = 5L) that the dominant has lost her ability to control reproduction such that the subordinate can take as much reproduction (p) as she desires. Solve for the maximum value of p that will be tolerated by the dominant before she kicks out the subordinate (i.e. the inclusive fitness of the lone dominant is equal to keeping the subordinate in the group).
- I am having trouble reworking the equation to solve for this if that is even what I am supposed to do. I don't know how to tie in the inclusive fitness of the lone dominant
Well today has been a good day, had an exam i feel i done pretty well in and i think overall putting in a bit more patience and nit ringing it im finding nl10 easier had two sessions today (one before, one after exam) relaxing up 5 and a half buyins after 5 and a half hours of play today and the trend will hopefully continue or get better (eithers fine, no doomswitchplz)
From here for me its play more keep trying to improve my game and focus on my other exams at the end of the week so from next week grind even more lol
peaCe
Had enough of fucking around on 50c/$1, I've played like 40k hands there just to make my stats positive, and now finally, they are. I'll go back to playing some $3/$6 6max and $3/$6 HU for a while, and rebuild my bankroll etc. My online bankroll has taken a bit of a beating lately as I've got $8.5k staked, and my bankroll hasn't really been going up much lately since the money you make at 100nl seems like peanuts nowadays, and is probably a huge reason why I was playing like shit there half the time. Hard to take it serious when you were playing $5/$10 like 2 years ago, and never really played below $2/$4 during that time.
Pretty funny how easily you can spot the difference in swings between 100nl and the other stakes I've played at, makes me wonder why I bothered wasting so much time at those stakes. Just couldn't help it I guess, too OCD, needed to make my stats a little prettier. I'm still not happy with them as they are, but I've wasted enough time on them and at least they are positive so I'll give it a rest now.
Life has been a little boring the last few days, although it's nice to be back in England in my own room, I kinda miss the food in Korea and miss the time I spend with my girlfriend. I like spending time with my friends also, but it doesn't feel the same as it used to for some reason, maybe cause they have no money and never buy drinks, and also because the pub that we used to go to sucks monkey balls nowadays. May go check out Angels and Demons tonight, never read or saw Da Vinci Code, but dunno if that's necessary anyway. I've started to get back into more Doom Metal etc lately, like I used to. To anyone who enjoys that type of music I highly recommend Doom:Vs - Dead Words Speak, I've had that album on repeat for about 6 hours today and I'm really enjoying it.
Probably won't blog for another 2 weeks or so from now, d.Apollo will be visiting me around that time and then I'll have something to blog about again, so until then farewell!!
I feel great about today's session. At first I started as normal-Solid ABC Poker 4BB+XBB raises, but I soon realised that the downswing is far from over

So all and all, I figured out that how to win- I simply must avoid showdowns and battle the small pots ;o
So I reverted to good old 3BB+XBB with 40-50% Steal and 11% 3Bet on most my tables and it felt great! Despite the one spew and continuing suckouts I managed to actually be up since I made the switch
I am going to keep this up, play many small pots and the results will hopefully follow-this downswing can't last forever.
So i was bored while watching baseball and started a few tables which turned into a full session, in the beginning it was freakin crazy as i had the nuts straight or flush or AA and kept on getting sucked out over and over. So i thought to my self "here we go again great another 10-20bi downswing which will take forever to recover." Instead of studying for my finals like i should i just kept on playing and somehow after 4k more hands made most of it back.
this could potentially be the biggest f'ing WIN of my life. and possible the biggest win i will ever achieve...if i fuck this up, i'm off'ing myself. I've done some stupid shit to ruin potentially great things, and i've failed. and i always thought that the reason i've failed is bc i learn from mistakes and eventually, i win.
