| Going for $10k December by edzwoo, November 29
For more of a young college kid read of my goal, check here:
http://www.edzwoo.com/2009/11/29/my-december-10000-poker-challenge/
But yeah, I'm going to be grinding NL200 FR unless I have to move down because I'm 30k vpp away from SuperNova. I think I have to play somewhere in the range of 70-80k hands; if anyone has solid VPP/hand calcs at NL200 FR, I'd appreciate a more accurate count.
The most I've ever played in one month is about 45k hands, and I am a loser at NL200 FR in the small 8k hands I've played. I went over all those hands and it was a combination of running a bit bad (standard), and spewing horribly in many spots. I was waaaay overaggro during each shot. So wish me luck, because technically I'm going into the month shot-taking. I'm confident I'll be fine though, and if not, I'll just hurry up and regrind it back at NL100.
Wish me luck guys. In actuality it's not the monetary goal I want, but to prove to myself than I can really grind it out.

| Datamining FTP Hands? by exalted, November 29
It seems like for a while it hasn't been possible to datamine observed hands on FTP (ever since they started using the new replayer that doesn't show an HH)
However, I realized that in the Isildur threads people are not only posting HHs, but are even showing graphs with EV lines? How is this being done, and if this is possible, then surely datamining is still possible? (How does PTR do it, etc.)
Any info on this would be good.

| November Results (24.5k) by PanoRaMa, November 29
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/sirasoni/nov09.png
Not much to say but I'm pretty satisfied. Had three days this month where I made over 5k (well I also had a day where I lost 5k but let's ignore that). Just woke up all early to play the takedown and didn't even last 30 minutes so I'm calling my month here. So since I did a lot better than I expected this month I might hit 100k on the year afterall (well it includes RB which is sorta cheating but w/e).
20k Cash Games
1.8k Rakeback
2.8k Tournaments, etc. = ~24.5k
Can't believe there's only 1 month left of 2009, hope it gone as well as everyone planned. 2010 is going to be nothing short of epic though, in over a week I'm going back to Asia and living in Taiwan at least for the entirety of the year (coming back to the US for WSOP etc. of course since I'm finally 21), where I have a lot of poker-related plans etc. GL everyone
Wish I had some more hands to share but most of them have been in the previous blog entries, so I've only got one I haven't shared:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/771021 - 3 barrel on suicide board is good.

| help me build a pc!! by lazymej, November 29
so I'm thinking of buying a new system because my current one is driving me crazy. It's starting to struggle with just menial tasks (which it shouldn't, but it does anyway) and it BSODed on me in the middle of a session yesterday.
I have no idea where to start because I don't know what the market is like for computers today in terms of component models etc. I'm looking for more of a value system, something that can run most games but I don't need it to run at 45435 fps, just be able to handle it.
It wouldn't really be a gaming PC either, just something that multitasks very snappy while browsing, playing music, playing poker, running HEM and autoimport etc.
I heard about intel i5 and i7 and i don't know what the difference is. Is intel > AMD now? ATI vs nvidia?
I just really want some suggestions on processors, motherboards and graphics cards since the other stuff is pretty trivial i guess.

| live poker by genjix, November 29
Yesterday I went and played live poker at my local casinos. The regfish all hate me eventhough I try to act friendly to them... Guess they see me as some young lucky punk.
Anyway I managed to turn £100 into £550- mainly cos of stacking the most rude tilted reg twice with trips. When a guy comes to the table asking if everyone wants to play PLO... I'm the only person to refuse but ask to up the blinds to £1/2
Everyone says no but this old man says we can play HU and I agree. I'm not worried about losing the money as I can but I know HU is swingy and volatile so whatever I took the risk and busted vs him cos I ran like shit.
Just looking for comments on this hand:
Just started vs a passive old man. Likes to call a lot and not fold to small bets but doesn't show agression unless he has the nuts. I'd 3bet twice before and have a bluffy image (from showing weak hands when he folds). He folds to bets on scary boards a lot (like 4 to flush). He doesn't bluff ever IMO tho.
£1/2
£500 relative stacks
KK
SB -> £7
BB-> 28
SB calls 21
I've seen him limping in the ring game with small PP so I assume he must have a good pair or hi cards to be raising and then calling a 3bet.
flop: 872r
BB bets 20
SB raises 40
BB raises 100
SB calls 60
I misread pot size bcos chips were hidden under the notes so I thought I bet half pot. After he minraises cos we're deep I decide to 3bet to get value from JJ+ and make hand easier to play.
pot: 260
turn: Q
BB checks
SB bets 100
BB calls 100
After he instantly calls and seems very happy with his hand, I'm scared of a set. So I check and when he bets I think I'm beat but the pot odds are attractive.
pot: 460
river: x (blank)
BB checks
SB bets 100
BB calls 100
Pot odds...
660
SB has 88 (set)

| Exploiting Regulars (slowhabit´s book review) by the cleaner, November 29
Just finished reading slowhabit´s book. I think this book has a ton of information for the average SSNL, like me.
THE NO-LIMIT HOLDEM WORKBOOK: Exploiting Regulars By TRI "SLOWHABIT" NGUYEN
http://dailyvariance.com/pics/workbook-cover.jpg
There are alot of good examples of making moves postflop, taking into consideration the board texture and how it connects with our opponents ranges. There are also some good examples, like playing AQ oop in 3bet pots, wich i haven´t even considered playing that way and it has definetly helped to improve my game. Another thing, that i have gained from this book is to identify good spots for river bluffs, when opponents hand is pretty much faceup and he wont be able to stand the pressure.
To anybody who feels is playing solid, but to predictable poker and wants to add some gamble to their game I highly recommend this book.
thanks again to slowhabit for giving me this book for free

Not a bad month...one of my best so far. Played cash at the beginning of the month about 8k hands of nl25 up about 10bi and moved up and it didnt seem to go to well at nl50 for me 2nd nuts vs nuts...set over sets and i just didnt put in that many hands of nl50 to get out of the rut play thru the downswing. Here is a nice little graph have a chuckle with me haha i know i kinda laughed when i seen it
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/d7728.nov cash.jpg
After being pissed about the nl50 about halfway thru the month i switched back to playin some sng and mtts and scored some nice profit there as well...little under 4k wwwweeee go me haha
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/299d7.nove mtts.jpg
Im going to be playing mostly all mtts next month and hope to score a couple FTs and hopefully get 1 of the 2 goals i have set for mtts which is a 10k month as well as a 10k day and if i can get two birds with one stone that would be even better
well gl LP its time to go chill and relax for the night

| I decided to chill by Night2o1, November 29
I'm still v well rolled for nl100, but I decided to mix it up a bit and see if I could just..reduce my stress for a while. Well I've never had great success at 6+ tables before but I really want to change that, and I want to figure out what exactly was breaking down in my thought processes when I had more tables up.
I've started to solve some of that, so here is my graph of 12-16 tabling nl50 so far.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/b4145.nl5012khands.jpg
I'm really in awe of my red line. Being at this stake again, I can really appreciate that I *have* improved immensely as a poker player over time. It gets me back into feeling like I do infact have an edge over these other players and that helps me think about variance better.
Its also really sweet to have so much hand volume and rakeback even though this is only 11hours of play. I figure I will just leave myself without a plan right now and with any luck I'll be moving back to 1/2 soon.
:D
