| | Time for a blog? by anon, February 05
So it's 12:42am. I have to be up after less than 6 hours for the university. But i don't feel like sleeping. I had been trying to get asleep for 1 hour but i didn't manage to. Why? I am feeling down. Lately poker isn't going my way. I had a lot of hopes for January, i had tones of free time, because of the session that i didn't have to take i had a completly free month. I have played every single day in January and i raked 9000$, which is great since i get 30% rake back. But despite the huge effort i didn't manage to win, actually i think am down a bit(PT is on the other comp). January was a strange month, i have never thought that poker can impact me that much, i was in a bad mood almost every single day, i felt depressed, angry or whatever, it just wasn't me. I had a downswing from 11400 to 6666$, which firstly started from bad beats and then turned into semi-tilt and the lose of my best game. But somehow i managed to win it back, yesterday i had 10400$, but now i am down again to 84~~~$ and feel really terrible, now when university started again i don't feel like playing poker, since it effects my overall mood and i feel shity. Dunno what went wrong, it seems that i no longer know what's my A game, i feel confused about my play, and very often feel like i might be doing smth wrong for not winning. I feel really terrible when weak passive player sits on my table with 3-4 bi being very predictible having 6% pfr and 14vpip. Everything went wrong since i started using PT, i started giving too much respect for my oponents, easy decisions turned into overthinked situations. Analyzing my play screwed my mind completly, since i lost the feel of the game. Now i am not sure what i am going to do next, but i have completly no motivation for poker at the moment. I put so much effort which went to wastes.
I guess i will have to update my blog tommorow, i can't express myself atm easily, i am tired. I don't even really know why i made this post, but just i felt like i should start my blog, updating it daily, showing the lossing hands and asking for help. I realized that i might be not as good player as i thought i was. And i need a lot to learn, and overlearn again. I would really appreciate if someone would give a glance to blog time to time commenting on the lossing hands that i will probobly start posting tommorow.
PS: sorry for the typos, i really don't feel like checking what i wrote.
Peace

| | I knew it will be hard by PetrBlaha, February 05
After my morning post where I lose 100$ I've said that I'll move down to nl10, but the greedy me talked me into playing some more nl25. I should have maybe not played at all or really play and nl10 because I've lost another 2 buyins going back to 300$ (come on... ! me SB having QJ and BB AJ table JAQxJ... ) Everyone has bad luck and I dont intend to whine about it. It was my mistake not to follow BR managment and I shall take the punisment and hopefully strike back
Let this be my lesson with my HORRIBLE stupid BR managment. Now I'll probably move to nl25 at 500$ it will be loong grind but I hope it wont take too long. If there wont be those 24 hours I could be still 450$ but those "if"...you know them.
Wish me fun on those grinding stupid long boring session at nl10 (anyone hates too when he has to drop stakes so he gets not so much money? I hate it, I promise myself not to drop stakes again)
5th February 07 (Evening)
BR : 300$ (-50$)
stakes :0.10/0.25$ I HAVE TO MOVE TO NL10 ! I

| | Reraised pots by NHL_94, February 05
Been running into a bit of bad luck lately, but that is bound to happen. On Full Tilt for a few hands this weekend, I found myself in 2 reraised pots. Once holding KK, the other with AA. Both in position.
I wound up losing my stack in both. One to a set of QQ vs AA and of course AA vs my KK. Before at NL 100, I would let this get to me and effect my play. This time, after the weekend was over I ended up being down only 65 on the weekend buy just getting back to playing my a game.
Seems quite obvious, but what I found I did best at this time was just to sit out after getting coolered like this for a bit. This is not ideal, but it is a step in the right direction. If you are having problems tilting after big pairs, try this out.
On the weekend -65

| | Funny suckouts! by DustySwedeDude, February 05
Yea well, I hate running bad but this was actually so stupid that I found it kinda funny. Also, I'd like to ad that I suspect that one of the most important parts of playnig poker is to be able to withstand long periods of break-even or running bad and losing some to be able to be a long-term winner. It might take a bit longer before I can move up in limits, but my bankroll is very decent for NL50 so it doesn't matter that much.
Hands:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/142184 <- God damn it! Hit! Hit!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/142185 <- Stack sizes made the turn stupid, but I guess I could've pushed. I will, however, put that in the "OMFG DAMN IT BAD BEAT MOTHER OF GOD PLZ KILL HIM"-category.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/142187 <- I dunno if I played this good, even though I was ahead this time. Anyway, it kinda proves that the competion isn't that great.
Edit: I just figured out that I've got a big-ass leak. I'm a huge payoff-donkey. I'll work on that.

| | Moving back down... by RAHZero, February 05
Last night was another horrible session at NL 100, my worst so far. Started off great when some guy called my $5 raise PF with 32o (I had AQ), then donked into me on a Q62 flop. He proceeded to call my raise to $45 (three-way pot, he led for $15, I raised to $45), and spiked a 3 on the turn. Down 1-buy-in early. It just went downhill from there. I didn't stack anyone all session, and spewed quite a bit towards the end and finished down 6 buy-ins.
After this terrible start to February, I'm moving back down to NL 50 for a little. I'm going to try to make a video tonight and see if some others can help me find leaks in my game. The plan is to play NL 50 until I've made 10 buy-ins ($500), then move back up. If I fail at NL 100 again, then I'll probably switch over to limit or tourneys for a bit. I really think that I'm capable of beating the NL 100 games I've been playing lately, but I can't seem to catch a break. Hopefully moving down will allow me to build back up some confidence in my game.

| | Rat Spirit by sn3t, February 05
Back in the 8th grade I had a rat that I named after my Diablo Character Snetmonch. It was a good rat, tan with a white belly.
I even used Snetmonch for my 8th grade science fair and I won 1st place and got a super neat metal and a smiley face sticker on my paper.
Well, after the science fair and having the rat for about 3-4 months I grew tired of it and its cuteness wore off. It started to get old and would pee on stuff and leave fresh rat biscuits on my bed or even on me. it even chew a hole in my favorite GUNDAM WING shirt and it chewed a hole in my awesome SPARKY hat that I got from my church camp when I was a little kid. (its super cool has little bible char on front of hat)
I started to not take my rat out anymore and it would just sit there day after day until it eventually died of old age.
Is this a sob story asking for sympathy for my rats passing? No.. something very strange has been happening. Every so often I smell very strong rat pee in my room. Now if you have ever had a rat you probably understand that you can recognize your rats pee scent.
I do not have any pets, and my house is not infested with rodents we have a very clean house. My carpet isn't stained and my sheets on my bed have been cleaned. THERE IS NO PEE ANYWHERE.
WHERE IS THIS RAT PEE SMELL COMING FROM? is my rat getting back at me for ignoring it?
i am off to find a doityourself exorcism

| | Sunday sucks by seweri, February 05
My second sunday session didn't go as planned... My intention was to play for a couple of hours and grind a buy-in or two but from the beginning, things went real bad.
http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/314/grindddhc1.jpg
The high point at about 400 hands is where I stopped my earlier short session described in the post below. In the new session I found myself shortly after starting all-in with TPTK only to get called by two pair. After my break I've been more tilt resistant but I guess this made me tilt a little. I was thinking "why the hell did I do that, I'm such a donk" etc and that definetly had an effect on my play.
So I was on a minor tilt and enjoying a cold deck and the results can be seen on the graph. Anyway after 900 hands (500 hands in this session) I finally got myself together and started playing good. There were still some coolers coming my way though and maybe there were some donkinsh plays too, but I don't (want to?) remember those.
What I do remember is these two hands occuring at the same time, which can be seen on the graph at around hand #1500 and the lowest point of the session.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/142058
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/142059
Anybody ever fold that set? His line was strange so maybe, just MAYBE you could put him on exactly the set of 6's but I'm not folding that after being cold decked and down about 6 buy-ins :D
I didn't tilt from these however, this was getting ridiculous already so I just brushed it off and continued grinding. Party decided that I had had my share of beats for the day and I started going uphill from here. I don't know if I played well or anything, I can't remember any spectacular plays I made but maybe that's because I'm not used to sessions this long. Seriously I was exhausted after this session. I only play 4 tables so what might be a standard session for you 12 tablers was a 5h+ grind for me.
I finally stopped after fighting most of the money back, and even though maybe I would have been better off without this second sunday session, I think it was a good learning experience for me. The best part was that even though I tilted a bit for the first time after my break I managed to get my game back together and grind most of it back. So yay for me.
By the way, at the end of the session I had over 660$ on 4 NL50 tables, and I was still down
Quite a feat!
Hopefully my next session will go better and I manage to avoid tilt. Only time will tell... Until then, cheers!

| | Fish Tank by Karma, February 05
Yeah getting a fish tank cos they're cool and have all kinds of sweet poker vibes, it should be pretty easy because I have a lot of experiance at owning fish
Looks shit now because it has none of the following which I will eventually have: Plants, bigger rocks and FISH
When I get the fish I'll name them after LP.net members
I expertly drew in some fish to give you an idea of what it will look like:
http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/5070/p1000479po2ul7.jpg
Anyway I bought a monster filter today that will mean I wont have to do much work, haggled with the fish shop guy to get the filter and some water cleaner for $150 (tag price: $185) Ship it dodgy asian dude
Paid in cash obv for dodgy discount
Check out this beast, it's bigger than the tank. The water is all dirrrty now because I put crap in it to get rid of the chemicals and get the good bacteria going. That dirty water simply has no chance, think of it as me playing some fish (Like Baal for instance) HU. Total rollover impending
http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/6500/p1000485zq5ds5.jpg
Anyway decided to play some poker today to make up for the splurging on the fish tank crap, decided I MUST make $150 to make it ok. Lucklily it look me like 5 hands so I was able to hit and run like a true balla
You see true pr0s like me quit when they're ahead, sustainable obv
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/52/todaype0.jpg
I really need to play more poker, I've played barely at all but unfortunately my internet is hampster powered and disconnects every 15mins so makes playing any meaningful session impossible

| | Why I like the blogs by DustySwedeDude, February 05
Ok so the liquidpoker-blogs have been around for a while now and I’d like to say a few things about them.
First of all, there have been some quiality posting from some people. Those photoshop-thingys byrnesam are really funny, Daut writes some good stuff and others have made monsterpost with some hands they played and such. That’s great and all, but I think that the best thing about the blogs, except the pics Hansen posted yesterday, is that one really gets to know that despite how bad you’re running or how many horrible beats you’re taking it’s just normal. When half the forum constantly seems to be on downswings I feel that it’s probably not that big of a deal when I lose 10 buyins or so as long as it’s not due to stupid tilt. Also, Joe told me that my stats were mega-LAG, so I’ll try to tighten up a bit.
New goal is something like:
Vpip: 30-35 ish, now: 47
Pfraise: 25ish, now: 34
Total AF: 4, now 3
The old stats are from my last 3k hands on NL50. I ran 14.86bb/100 hands during those but that’s mostly from a sick heater. My goal is to maintain +10bb/100 during 10k hands and then move up to NL100 again. I'm also very unsure of what the Total AF should be and I feel that I might valuebet a bit too little
More aggression, less splashing around with everything. I know that one can’t say that “those stats are teh pwnage, lol”, but I’d appreciate if someone could tell me if something is way off.

| | Is it really working ? :-O by PetrBlaha, February 04
I've spent this weekend with my gf so I didnt have much time to play poker (actually I've played about 200 hands when she was learning for some tests :D) I've finally cleared this PS bonus and decided that I'll test "once so much known" NL25.
I've decided to play at first just 4 tables to adjust to new types of blinds raises etc stuff. Then suddenly I've became bored so I start 6 tables.
What are main differences between nl25 and nl10? NL25 players can actually SOMETIMES fold their hands, not very often though but some of them thinks about their play a bit, still I find nl25 even with my extra sloppy skill (that I can't even call skill ) very easy to beat. I've suffered some bad beats but still after about 1 hour of 6-tabling I've gained 20$ (which is crappy but c'mon, I've suffered AK vs 67 flop A67 rainbow and stuff like that :D )
What I've never mentioned in nl10 but still continue to happen in nl25 is fact that I sometimes have to fold pocket pairs just because the stupid raiser is shortstack with 4$ which really makes me H8 +H0$e 5+uPid FUCk3n sHORT5t4Ck$ !
Good night folks
yeah and about all those
weak goal
medium goal
long goal
fuck that, I'll be best I don't have to have goals . My only goal is to beat Muhweli's BR at the end of o7 (we made some bet about it (still not decided about prize ). That son-of-a-fish doesn't believe me but I will make him to jk... I'm too tired to write properly sry
1st january 07 - 4th February 07 (I've play only on 4th)
BR : 450$ (+20$)
stakes : 0.05/0.10 $ + 0.10/0.25$

| | So exalted is like toast. by DustySwedeDude, February 04
Yea so I saw a quote of Gandalf over at TL and since I got a few bad beats earlier today (which is stupid, cause God is supposed to love me. I bet he's a fag or something) I'll just pick on Eric.
Gandalf impersonates exalted:
"I am in the 99.999th percentile of intelligence and will soon be in Harvard. I have 350 apm and will own you, newb. I can type at 450 wpm, thx. If you disagree with me, you are a fag, ok?"
So that's like correct n' stuff and I'll probably buy broodwar again just to get some games vs eric and show him what a n00b sweede who hasn't played for like 8 months or something can do. I'll probably just like 4 pool him the first game or so untill I learn the hotkeys and then like pwn him or something cause like God loves me so I'll probably just hit on some random keys and hope that they're hotkeys. That'll work for sure!

| | 2k hands session by SneakrFreakr, February 04
So yesterday I've read an article on table selection. Even though I knew most of these things before, I would usually be to lazy to focus on it. But this article convinced me to pay more attention to this aspect of the game. So I opened the best 16 6max nl100 tables on ftp (highest % of people seeing flop, 70bb+ stacks etc) and left them on with PT and PAHUD for 20 mins or so untill I got statistics for most players. Than chose 8 or 10 of these tables, cancalled my table reservations a few times to get better position on weak players and finally got 8 good tables filled with donks with about 40/10 stats and big stacks to my right. I wasn't sure if I should play that many tables but I had no problems except for the fact that for like 20 minutes my broadband was very slow and I had to close 4 tables.
The session started pretty well and after 20 minutes I was up about 2 buyins. Later on I started running pretty bad. I was getting good cards, hitting flops pretty good as well but I lost a few major pots end I ended the session being up about $200. Here are the stats from this session:
http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/2541/93082134am5.jpg
I was playing very tight but this is because of 8 tables and I’m still not used to it. The other things it that this was enough to make people pay me off where they shouldn’t.
Now I need to get my party rakeback set up and I’ll be playing a mix of FTP and Party. I might give some other networks a go as well, just to clear some bonuses, get some rakeback etc. and maybe I’ll find a gold mine.
Here are some interesting hands from today:
1. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141453
That was a tough one. I’m not gonna post the results now cause first I’d like to hear some comments. Villains’ stats: ianleeds - 19.3/5.3 / AdmiralTwill - 18/10. No other reads. What do you guys think about it?
2. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141457
Thanks a lot.
3. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141730
I think folding is the right play in this spot. Any opinions?
4. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141731
Should’ve raised on flop probably. Villain’s stats – 22/20 I was actually close to fold on turn when he bet big. Luckily I was right this time.
5. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141734
Ship it.
6. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141735
Probably should’ve bet on flop but I try to mix betting and checking on AAx flops with both Ax and others hands to confuse my opponents. He either sensed my weakness or had a really good hand.
7. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141737
I had a big problem when deciding what to do in this spot. There’s a preflop raise, shortstack’s allin for 16bb and I ‘ve got KK. I figured that calling wasn’t a good idea as it might’ve given the other villain too good pot odds. Raising like $40 would look pretty strong so I figured that I’d push to make it look as if I wanted to stay in the pot only with the shortstack with a decent but not a top notch hand. Bastard folded anyway.
8. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141739
Well, happens.
9. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141740
I really like the way I played it hand and after his call on the flop I planned to make it look like I’ve been 3-barreling or sth. Pot-sized bet on the river and he calls with top pair, no kicker. He was playing very loose (47/20), splashing around and trying to stack me.
10. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141743
I think this was an easy (and correct) fold. What hands can I beat that he’s pushing here?
11. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141745
Pot odds.
12. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141746
Turn gave me a nut FD so I fired a second barrel. He checkraised me and my odds weren’t good enough if I was hoping for a flush only. But since he was a very loose and aggressive player I was pretty sure that my overcards are good as well. Made a call with proper odds and the turn helped me to win.
13. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141747
Managed to induce a river bluff by checking – just as I planned it.
14. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141748
Standard?
15. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141751
That was a tough one. Villain wasn’t raising often so I gave him credit. It might’ve been a mistake but he haven’t even made a 3-bet before). What do you guys think?
16. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141754
Villain was pretty tight, with stats about 17/10. I saw him 3-betting a few times though. I also had a good image and I think he respects my game. The flop wasn’t ideal for me but I decided to raise his pot sized flop bet. If he had TT-QQ he’d probably fold thinking that I might have KK or AA. If he had one of the top two pairs, he could also fold thinking that I’ve hit a set. And there’s always a possibility that he was bluffing.
I’m a bit tired since I slept only 3 hrs yesterday but I’m gonna play a 2-3hr session now anyway. If I feel that I’m not playing well, then I’ll finish my session. And from now on I’ll be posting only the really most interesting hand histories as it takes too much time to post 10+ hands a day.
