| | Made back the money.... by DonVale, March 11
so yesterday i started down 1 hundo dollars on NL25 in like 300 hands in FR...so i switched to 7 tables of 6max and made a 150. So all is good and the roll is at $958.10. Also, I am pretty siked about this fantasy baseball league that tenbagger made and i want u all to know im gonna win. I hope to get up to $1,030 so i can just clean off the roll to $1k and still pay for the entry in the draft. Furthermore, I think i'm going to stay at NL25 until like $1250 then switch to NL50.... gl with all ur play

| | Poke Fourth Session by AntonChan, March 11
I'm running pretty well at these stakes. I'm confident that I can outplay most of the players at this stake so it's time for me to move up soon. Probably this week after I reached around $550-$600. Hand histories to follow...

| | my blog~ by fanta[Rn], March 10
Hello there. After chatting alot with the IRC regulars I came to the conclusion that I want to start a blog. Now I know I'm not exactly the most interesting person on this site and I'm not a highroller either but the purpose of this blog is not to show off or to whine but to improve myself and keep track of what I've done so far. I also think that it might keep me away from tilting and I could set up some milestones which I would try to achieve.
After reading Twisteds first blog entry I decided I'll steal a bit and start with an introduction about myself and mainly about my poker career so far.
The magical age of 18
So two years ago I turned 18 years old, back then I spent my time with playing all sorts of online games and going to a technical school over here in Austria. My days were boring and most of the time I did the same things over and over again. Back then Poker wasn't as popular as it is now among the media however it was very popular around us StarCraft and TL.net'ers. People like Rekrul and ElkY started to own up online Poker and earning a big bunch of cash. Ofcourse the way I am, my friend (bioboyAT) and me decided to go with the flow and start playing Poker on Pokerstars.
It was very funny, we both didn't have a clue at all about Texas Hold'Em. While he was starting discovering the CHECK, CALL, FOLD and RAISE buttons I decided to search up the net for how to play Texas Hold'Em. All I knew about poker were the hand rankings and back then I used to pronounce the Flush as >FLASH<.
We both played the playmoney tables without having a clue and crushed and burned ofcourse since you all know what it is like to play the playmoney tables.
Bioboy and me both had a friend from France, we were playing alot of TMA (Team Micro Arena) with him back then and we somehow talked about Poker and found out that he's been playing NLHE for a long long time. He taught us some basic stuff and gave us both 10$. I remember how we were very enthusiastic about the money and how we decided both to not touch it and play the playmoney until we hit at least 100k chips.
To make it shorter, after I got a horrible beat which resulted in me losing all my chips I decided to join up the real money tables to play some NL5. After 5 hands I decided to stop with a 5cent profit. I almost shit in my pants that excited I was. I made the first 5 cent of my poker career and they felt so sweet.
Fast forward, I don't remember when I went busto and lost all the 10$. I decided that playing Penny tables is not worth it and quit Poker for a good time.
After some months Korn[pG] opened up his pokersite pokerstrategy and he was giving away 5$ to everyone who signed up on his site. The site was very good, it had a few good starting articles about poker. Needless to say that I went busto once again and decided not to be part of pokerstrategy again since I was a bit embarassed and didn't feel like being asked about how I went broke.
Another friend (arcsinh[xp]) started to play poker as bioboy told him about pokerstrategy. He also started with 5$ and ran it into 500$ over some months playing FL penny tables.
I was extremly envious about that and decided to start again. By the time Korn's site grew and became more professional, with more articles and live coaches. The site had a quiz, if you passed that online quiz you got 5$ transfered to your Pokerstars account - however in order to pass the test you'd have to study the FL starting articles and master them. I've put in quite some time and studied like mad to pass the quiz and I did. I turned my 5$ into 25$ playing 2c/4c FL tables. I did really well infact and at 25$ pokerstrategy offered you to transfer those 25 bucks to Partypoker giving you additional 50$ for free and another 100$ after you played 10,000 raked hands.
Off to the mirical PartyPoker land, back then the software didn't look like it does now. I've played like mad and run pretty good playing FL tables. My roll grew and grew and at a point I was at 900$. However then the biggest downswing I've ever had kicked in and I fell down to 400$. I decided that I'm not a good pokerplayer at all and before losing the rest of my roll I cashed it out and stopped playing Poker. Again.
Fast foward, I didn't play Poker at all for over a year. Bioboy was playing 3/6 SH FL having a 4000$ roll. Once again I was envious and wanted to give it another try.
December, 2006 - The time Partypoker made the sickest mistake with reload bonuses. There were 4 or 5 up to 200$ reload bonuses for the major PP affiliates, one of them being pokerstrategy. However the bonuses weren't signup-code restricted so basically everyone could get all 4 or 5 bonuses.
I asked bioboy if he could lend me 1,400$ so I could clear at least 2 of the bonuses and get a roll started. He did and I went on a sick week of poker playing over 25,000 hands in just 4 days. I cleared 5 bonuses losing 200$ but however leaving the site with 800$.
===
SHIT, here I've pressed the "return to last page" button of my mouse and all my writings are gone so now I'll make it alot shorter since I don't feel like spending so much friggin time here.
===
Cashed in 600$ for a 600$ bonus on FTP and started playing NL10. I had no clue about playing NL before so I started with SH tables. It wen't good in the beginning however I left this stakes with -8BI. Since I was properly rolled I decided to move up to NL25.
Played a shitload of hands in 50 days, 84,000 hands to be more specific and after being almost breakeven I started to be frustrated a bit. Here's the graph anyway.
http://pages.prodigy.net/fxc/sumatra9.0quake-v2.JPG
Oh.. wait, wrong one.
http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/4185/nl25decemberkl4.jpg
Almost identical.
Decided to take a break for a week and fixing up my account so I can get a rakeback deal. It worked out and since I was breakeven - however +600$ up from the signup bonus I decided to move up once again to NL50.
Fast forward, I moved up to 1300$ and then went on a huge downswing + tiltfest down to 194$. Now frustration really kicked in, decided that I'd need a big break so I lost interest in poker for almost 2 and a half weeks.
Rakeback for my first month saved my bankroll and I was properly rolled for NL25. This time I decided to play it serious to set myself goals and to read alot of 2+2 poker articles.
My goals were to reach 750$ over at least 20,000 hands and then give NL50 a try - however I swore myself that I have to move down to NL25 again if I fall back to a 500$ roll.
Here is how it went.
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/7811/nl25februarytj0.jpg
I was very pleased with that and thought it was a good result eventhough I came into a rather big down near the end. I've reached my goal and decided to give NL50 a shot with a bankroll of ~800$.
And that's where I'm currently, I started to play NL50 again at the begin of March. I'm pleased so far and I'll take a shot at NL100 real soon.
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/2544/nl50marchch8.jpg
I know it's kinda swingy but I really don't get why as I think my playstyle didn't change too much. Infact I got a bit nitty lately and I definately want to work on that.
Guess that'd be the end of my first entrance, hope you enjoyed it.
Small Gimmick: bioboy showed me a site where you can watch Futurama online, I love to watch those after I'm having a tough poker day as it really cheers me up and makes me laugh.

So long.

| | Counting and echecks by Adaptation, March 10
My echeck canceled, thus bringing my PP account to 0(didnt lose any money either though). I reload by using Neteller/visa, which worked but i reloaded with less. So far,
BR: 72$(+8)
Now i have to play NL.4, and grind my way up. Should be fun.
So far i had barely no action, playing tight following grot's advices, exception for this single hand
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/156876
His response cracked me up badly '' HOW CAN U CALL''. For me it was so obvious he didnt have an ace. His response was priceless.
-----------------Counting-----------------
Even though this site is about poker, i will use this blog to store my Blackjack counting situation. Two weeks ago i spoke with a friend about casino's which got me interested again in card counting. I knew how it works but i had actually never practiced.
I decided to give it a shot, learning the blackjack basic strategy by heart(how to play ur hands) is the first thing, which i rapidly learned in 2 days. The basic strategy is essential, and without it counting is nothing. Using Basic strategy, the house usually has a .60% edge over me. However, with successful card counting i can make the edge to 1%-2% in my favor.
Card counting works on the basis that certain cards are good for u and some are bad. You assign minus values to cards u want(because when u see them played, it gives u less chance to catch those cards later on, thus we give them negative values when we see them). We give cards we dont want positive values, because when we see them, its likely that were not going to get them soon after this hand.
Using a basic counting system, known as the HI-LO, i practiced for 5 days, until i was able to count a deck in 25 seconds minimum. Through free BJ simulators on internet, i sharpened my count and decided to hit the Local casino, with a hundred dollars.
To my suprise, the minimum bet there was 15$, thus allowing me to play 7 hands. That meant i could only play when the count was extremely high.
So for the first hour, i backcounted(counting the cards but not playing). I was able to keep track with the dealers, including the extremely fast one. After this hour, i decided to give it a shot.
For the next 3 hours, i walked around tables, counting, and when it was good, i bet, won and left because the count got crappy.
In 3 hours - +70$
BJ BR:170$
I left the casino feeling fairly good, quite happy with how things turned. Still my BR is incredibly tiny and the minimum bet is an overbet to my BR. Hopefully my count will stay sharp and i will keep getting the cards...

| | Dusty goes shopping by DustySwedeDude, March 10
I went home from university this weekend to hang out with my family and me and my little sister went shopping for some wii games and a few movies. And “a few” was around 20 so and I spent around 150 USD or something on it. I just loved the look on the girl who sold them to me when I put those films on the table and threw the money on the table. I don’t think it’s very useall that someone buys that many movies in one and the same time and I’m pretty certain that not that many people as young-looking as me and my sister carries around a few hundred USD in their wallets. It’s not “that” much money or anything, but it’s still far more then I figured I’d spend on movies during one day before I started playing poker. I looked kinda shabby too so I guess that made the picture even better. I also bought my grandmother a big-ass flower and even she has started to see that my gambling is a good thing.
The only thing that feelt even better with it was the knowledge that I made 750 USD yesterday and another 400 USD today. I’m running really good, playing great and I’m just so fucking happy about it all right now. I’ve only played for like 6 months and so far this year I’ve made more money than my mother and she’s working full time while I’ve played maybe 2 hours/day or something. I love LP, I’ve learnd most of what I know about poker from you guys and I’m so happy about it. Thanks a lot guys!
Here's a pic of the films we got:

| | Stacking the aggro donkey! by Verbloten, March 09
HO HO HO
I just joined a 25NL table on Interpoker. Sat down it was 4 handed and there was a guy sitting there with 99 dollars. That's pretty awsome on a 25NL table....
So i very very quickly notice that this guy is a maniac donkey and think to myself what idiots came here and paid this guy off... now i think he probably just got lucky!
First hand we played against each other i check in the BB with A5 and play HU against big stack donkey guy. Flop checked through. Turn is Ace. He bets just over pot. I call. Check through river. He has Q high with 3 kicker!
Very next hand
So must admit i was quite happy to see such a huge pre flop raise when i had AA What he is thinking playing TT like that i have NO FUCKING CLUE!!
About 15 hands later
Then over the course of the next 16 hands dealt, he raises preflop and doesn't get any callers, takes down the pot, 13 times. I'm thinking to myself - i bet he thinks he is good because he is winning so many pots - maybe he doesn't realise winning 10 30c pots in a row is less than winning a small pot that sees a flop!
So then this hand
Game #3413905283: Hold'em NL ($0.15/$0.25) - 2007/03/10 - 03:55:43 (BST)
Table "Arneb" Seat 3 is the button.
Seat 1: Welshy100 ($17.33 in chips)
Seat 2: paistikas ($46.01 in chips)
Seat 3: Mar230337 ($67.92 in chips)
Seat 6: netolbrev ($55.15 in chips)
netolbrev: posts small blind $0.15
Welshy100: posts big blind $0.25
----- HOLE CARDS -----
dealt to netolbrev
paistikas: folds
Mar230337: raises to $0.50
netolbrev: raises to $1.25
Welshy100: folds
Mar230337: raises to $67.92 and is all-in
netolbrev: is all-in $53.90
Returned uncalled bets $12.77 to Mar230337
The software shows his cards:
This is good yes?
----- FLOP -----
----- TURN -----
This is bad yes?
ONE TIME??? ONE TIME??? !!!!!!!!!!!!!
----- RIVER -----    --->>> <<<----
----- SHOW DOWN -----
Mar230337: shows (A Straight, Queen high)
netolbrev: shows (A Straight, Ace high)
netolbrev collected $108.55 from Main pot
Very next hand he pushes with 55 for his last $12.
I instacall with 88.
Ship it! Stack goes from 25 to $120 in less than 10 minutes

Down 10 buyins on full tilt NL50
Kept playing after losing like 4 buyins and then my aces lost to JJ all in preflop deep stacked so I close all my table and for some reason decide to play nl100 and lose 2 buyins
So that is really shitty...
I’m still rolled for nl50 comfortably I'm just kind of disappointed in 2 things
1. Playing after losing 4 buyins
2. Playing nl100 when running bad
Got to learn to discipline myself
Oh and btw I’ve been trying to win a seat to the Sunday million... I have come heads up a few times but always fell short... I dropped like $150 trying to get a seat
I’m really bummed out and feel like a terrible idiot...
Tomorrow I work all day, but after work I’m going to come home and eat and shower and have a 1 hour session at nl50... depending how that goes with results and how I play ill decide if I’m going to continue playing nl50 for the month or play like 7k hands of nl25 and then reevaluate
And school sucks and so does work

umm played like 1k hands today and played like shit but managed to be up a lil over a buy in. so i'm happy with that. Plus the roll is over 900, so i'm a happy fuck. I'm pissed off cuz i got stacked on something that i shouldve folded easily...i have JJ in MP and raise it up to a dollar, i think utg reraises normal to like 3 or something then the flop comes 565...i check call...then turn i check call all in basically cuz he had a big stack already...he had KK (i think it was an ez fold by me). All in all i felt ok but not great. GL with all ur play this weekend cuz i dont know how much im gonna play...prolly will play a good amount tomorrow just to get the roll up to 1k.
started today with: $871.75
Ended today with: $910.00
