that day has arrived more than a few times in my life, and unfortuantely has arrived once again in 2009.
it's funny that its coinciding with my SNE chase, but i have undoubtedly been running massively below expectation for the first two months of this year. i guess it all started when i lost a 200bb pot near the bubble of the PCA main event to a 6 outer. i've been playing PLO which is admittedly a new-ish game to me, but i just did some database leak plugging and it's undeniable that i'm running hugely below expectation. if you just look through the hands i've posted on LP, they're most of my all-in pots that don't include me having the nuts vs some rando donk's TPTK etc.
i've lost almost 80% of my 80/20's over 100k hands, that's pretty stifling. i'm not quite losing but more so breaking even, a result of my volume (good thing i'm not playing 20k hands a month or i'd probably quit over a stretch like this!). today i ended a session early (first time all year) only down 2 bi, but if you plug in my equity i shoulda been up about 10 skalansky buyins, pretty massive. it was the first time i've felt tilt as a result of this stretch. you can see the graphs i've posted in this blog, some crazy stuff.
it's tough when you're running bad because there's a sense of "well, what can i do?"
i've just worked on plugging small leaks, and it's probably been a positive in that sense, but i have the kind of expenses + tax time that I really can't just be breaking even all year long. i'm hoping i'll hop out of the funk. as it is this month, i'm break even or slightly down, mostly thanks to 5/10 shots vs. moneymaker and some gross beats in a soft 5/10 NL game. so i guess i'll have to take some time off 5/10. i might just go back to hold em, where suckouts don't necessarily feel as brutal. i was banking 50-100 buyins per month pretty regularly last year, so this is definitely becoming trying, but i shouldn't have been so accustomed to running good either.
i'm sort of rambling on some self-therapy here but i think you guys get the point.
Ive been on a crazy breakeven stretch, down 5bi today, im cutting my tables down to 8 and massive notetaking and playing rather than nutpeddling 24 tables, when u run bad 24 tabling can fucking hurt
i honestly think i will make more 8 tabling with notes than 12-24 tabling anyways, so many weak playes to pick on
i guess thers no resaon to mass table until u have stats and notes on everyone at the current limit anyways
so now i'll be 8 tabling, and expecting a much higher winrate since i will be playing more skillbased and less cardbased poker again
anything to end this downswing y.y;;
i've learned a ton through every downswing and i think this is something i learned that i will need to stick with all the way up the limits to be as proitable as possible, since nl100+ will be harder and harder
well, down 5bi right now, time to make it back, or atleast some of it (although I just lost another bi AJ vs A9 allin pf (i raise co and button shoves and i snap cuz hes a lagtard maniac...
as previously stated whenever I am playing a MTT I must blog about it, or owe $25 to anyone who sees me in the tournament, so heres the blog, i'm taking today off mostly, but plan to play the 200k for shits n giggles, maybe a luckbox

as for poker... i have been playing only limit the last 3 months. maybe about 8k USD which is far below expectations since im just chilling/travelling/pokering while waiting for the job market to improve. ive been to bali and bangkok and got engaged too so lots of stuff has been happening in my life. bought my fiance a ds for vday and shes addicted to it like crazy.
anyway poker wise my high rolling friends staked me for 2/4 which im slightly up there while meanwhile i grind .5/1 limit at stars since im supernova + its just alot less stressful and easier then 1/2. Im like 3bb at 50cent/1 but 0.5 bb at 1/2

Put in two sessions today, first session was really terrible, so many coolers it was unbelievable, and whenever it wasn't a cooler i was sucked out on.
no worries though, took 10 mins off, got stoned and relaxed, came back and won what i lost +10
I've revamped my 6max guide and its much more solid now imo, although I will still do alot of creative plays as I see them, I've changed around quite a few things (don't really want to post specifics since other NL50 regs can read here)
hrm, so i won my 1st 5400 fpp satellite last night, and now that im platinumstar i've almost made all the fpp back from that, so its like a free +215 :-)
I'm going to continue to play them when im sessioning, forgot to this morning, but plan on doing a couple today

I'm taking my 43,241 FPP into the 5400 FPP Sunday mil satellite tournies tomorrow (I have enough for 8 of them and I'll have 41 fpp left)
wish me luck, hopefully I can get a large br boost, i quit tournies a while ago, but I think that this is the best option for me to do with my platinumstar status (I can't save for the $1500/$4000 bonuses until I am a Supernova player, and the $650 bonus is pretty much saying that you're being impatient, since you can just wait another week or two and get the 100k fpps)
I know its highly unlikely, but to get top 4/10 in all 8 is $1720, which would be TITS! (and get me pretty close to nl100)
But honestly, winning 3 of them is what I expect, and anything more than that is awesome imo. Thats $645, $5 shy of the $650 bonus without having to clear it.

OK. Enough is enough! I have taken so much shit throught the tournaments i've played in my life it is just sick. Cash-wise i am ok but when it comes to tournaments it just seems like i am doomed to get badbeaten. The last several hundred sngs i've played the Boss Media soft. has just raped me, then ipoker did that too. So i started cash. But from time to time i relax with a tourny cause the guys playing tourneys with up to 20-30$ buyin are so UNBELIEVABLY bad it is mindblowing. And yet their flush draws, OESD , gutshots always rape my sets and so on. But i don't lose hope cause theoretically everything will come to place. So, i decided to try FTP, about which i constantly hear "rigged".. much more than any other site. I bought in for 2 tourneys, 8$ and a 10$ (with bounty). I quickly doubled up on both of them and i realised that i have never in my life encountered such bad players. Almost everyone at my tables was ready to get it in with air or call with 2 overs or a g-shot! I flopped a str8 and set and was like "lol it is not rigged at all! ". Then... AK on one table, JJ on the other. I went allin on the turn with AK with TPTK, villain had AT, 3 outs. T. Busted. On the other: a shorty calls a minraise, i 3bet them, only he calls. Pot is = his stack. Flop 787, me allin, he calls A7. Nice hand, nice calls preflop. Then i recovered and i have 15k, blinds 400/800. me: AA. UTG raises 3BB, I 3bet smallish cause he is a huge shoving donk. Folded to him, he calls. Flop AsTd2s. He leads allin, I very happy with a smile call thinking how finally i might hit big in a donkament after 3 hours of play and playing good and all those feelings. He shows me JK. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....(silence)" during the silence, a Q came on the MOTHERFUCKJING RIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK!?!? HE CALLED MY 3BET WITH JK, SHOVED ON A-HIGH FLOP AND RIVERS HIS 3OUTER. How many times should get fkngly raped. Sometimes i click on final tables of random tourneys and i see the HUGEST DONKS win the shit just raping everyone else. 62o allin, no problem, AK is busted! Every single tournament i have FTed the biggest donk won it! WTF!?!? The better i play tourneys the less i cash. If i do cash i get badbeaten right after the bubble. Does anyone else feel like tournaments are HUGELY fucked up by the Poker Force. I am just sick from those luckfests. The donk rule the tournaments. I don't even know the purpose of this blog. Just tell me that you too get buttraped by the donks in tourneys. I feel alone now. I am just losing lil by lil my money on these shits. i've got the job at the bank i was talking about in my previous post, salary is ok but not super great. But nowadays i'm pretty happy to at least have a fucking job ! Also they have some very nice employees advantages like full health care covery for my family (my wife and I), free credit cards with half interests, low interest mortgage, and special investments plans. So im pretty pumped up with this and hope i will be able to capitalize. For all the guys out there dreaming of a poker career i tell you be cool stay in school, a LOT of wanabees and a very few will make it. If you don't get an education while you still can, you'll get screwed pretty hard for the rest of your life.This doesn t apply for people making 200k$+/year playing the game for obvious reasons.
Poker wise:
Im trying to rebuild a decent roll for the xth time, i swore to myself im not withdrawing money from now on except if i hit 100k, so it means there is a high chance i'll never withdraw ever again ROFL. Microstakes are just a pain in the ass and i can't say in words how much i hate them, you spend too much time grinding a meaningless money and have to deal with the variance who's skyrocketing due to the massive horde of aggrofishes who just don't have any fold buttons.
What i find intriguing is why i don't get any heaters at all for the last 2 months or so. Im playing a pretty aggressive game (25/20/3 on average) but just seems to never get action on my strong hands and keep running into theirs when my holding is weak. But i think im not the first one to write this in his blog hay ? I just don't understand how is it possible to play for several weeks and never have a small heater, this is just weird while i witness everyday awful players running on the water at my tables on a daily basis.
I don't think i run THAT bad but its just weird to never say after a session i had good cards and scored a +5bis session. I mean even if i was the worst player on earth, i should have a couple good winning sessions overall isn't it ? And we're talking about nl25 here, not like it's tough in any way...
Diet:
I need to lose some weight and i decided to start a new diet based on fruits, vegetables and low fat meat along with hitting the gym when winter is over here in Canada. I'd like to have some advices from you people out there who did that kind of diet, im obv avoiding any processed food and focus on eating healthy every day BUT i have had a (sorry its gross) sick diarrhea going on for the last couple of days and i just don't understand where does it come from ? Is it my body on dtox or something ? I eat rice, vegetables and fruits at will and to not lose muscles i eat a lot of white meat low on fat like turkey/chicken. And it's the fucking niagara falls when i go to the toilets, wtf ? Am i missing something here ?
I feel a lot better even if it has been 10 days im doing this diet, more energic, sleep better, focus better. I feel less and less sleepy and i only need 7-8h of sleep where i used to be tired when i woke up at 8 am. Results are fast and i hope i'll drop some weight soon and come back in shape.
Any inputs appreciated, also good luck at the tables guys and please don't overvalue this game and make bad decisions that will prolly be a catastrophe for your life, especially if you're young. Stay in school and get a degree so at least your future is not jeopardized.
well, i have decided i'm going to revert to hold em for my SNE grind. I just completed losing around 30bi or so in the last three sessions, and although I'm pretty sure it was "standard" variance (got it in deep a decent favorite multiple times and lost), what i'm not sure about is my ability to go through stretches like this (or even worse) and maintain SNE pace.
it's tough as well because in general i'm not as confident in my play as i would be in NLHE so the opportunity to "second guess" myself comes up way more often.

as you can see, pretty rough stuff. quitting a winner for the month though! unfortunately i'm down about 5k in NLHE playign some 5/10 over at FTP before I had to cash out my roll, so i am indeed stuck in the month, hopefully I can get in the swing of things in NLHE and at least break even. a losing month would probably mean i'd have to give up on SNE altogether, but I'm confident
For shits and giggles, this is my year graph at the PLO. I guess the swings are standard but I'm going to give it a rest for a while regardless, I may get back into it if I can find some decent coaching or something of the sort. It's actually missing another 5-10k in winnings from my laptop DB, but as you can see it's not the results I'd expect from my holdem play. At the heyday I was a 5ptbb winner but I think this is more something like 2.5 which isn't really acceptable for me. (Not because 2.5ptbb isn't an acceptable winrate, but rather if I were to go for SNE playing holdem at the same winrate it would take more hands which can be accomplished in the same amount of time, and thus my real life hourly would be better)
Trying to stay positive, 30bi in 3 days is pretty unreal and something that probably couldn't happen at NLHE, but in a sense I was probably due for an epic bad run.
I've been swinging like mad on NL50..played a marathon yesterday in which i lost a ton, made back about 10 bi today though
my styles has high variance, but i have a great image to get paid on pretty much all hands, and there's many players i can continue to run over
adjusting to nl50 well imo, i will be playing very long session for now on, so expect a lot of hands, i had some realizations of what i could be making at nl50 everyday and today i showed myself i can make atleast 500 a day.
