Kathy Daut 8th leveled me
  Daut, Apr 06 2007

So I came home for the weekend cause I wanted to take care of some poker business stuff -- meeting with a lawyer to get some contracts written for my live backing deals.

Anyway, so im sitting at the kitchen table and my mom starts shaking her head at me and goes "such a waste...its so disappointing that youre not going to school anymore, such a waste of math talent"

So i look at my mom and go "If i had a 15 inch penis would it be a waste of talent if I wasnt a pornstar?"

To my surprise Kathy actually laughed. And then she looked at me and said "Yes, i guess it would be a waste"

OMFG pwned

New Classes at Uni
  tae-g, Apr 06 2007

I just registered for my next classes for school. I found it funny that several(my probability, statistics, and psychology classes) could/will have applications to poker.

I've been testing the water at 25NL FR. So far it seems extremely beatable, but I didn't have an amazing day due to hitting my set of 5's on a ace high flop only to run into AA for quite a large pot.

Cheers

Can't touch this
  Sheitan, Apr 06 2007

If i had to sum it up: http://www.filecabi.net/video/1175751572.html
The skinny guy = me.
The big guy = poker.

Got AA 4 times, two were cracked by 44 and AJo allin, got KK went all in pf vs AA on a FR cash game. I would say im starting to get used to that, managed to go +1 BI playing my best then get overwhelmed by massive suckouts/coolers and finish -3,5 BIs.

I tilted a bit since it's almost a month now i can't fucking touch this. I really wonder wtf is going on ? maybe it will never end, maybe i just entered the 4th dimension where i would get owned over and over again. I heard bad beats can last long but it's hard to get one that long when you just start poker, if this destroy my BR then it's a good thing because i'll never put 1 more cent in this, in fact i'll cash out the rest once i go back to where i started so i won't lose money. I'll play freerolls then (roflskates).

But i do love poker even if poker doesn't like me, whatever. I'll keep trying and play better, read books and improve my game, one needs to kill me to make me stop trying, so no matter how hard the poker gods try to punish me, i'll still be standing on my feet.

OOoookay let's stop crying, i'll be playing mainly SnGs since im running so bad at cash games right now. Just finished two where i got owned by J2s vs my AJ, lost the other one cuz i got no decent hand till the blinds got me heh. -1 BI.

The worst part is i have to go back to work in 2 days and that, gentlemen, is the worst bad beat of the week.

P.S: i'll stop making entries like that from now, i sound like a lil crybaby.

Challenge for myself
  CrownRoyal, Apr 06 2007

I have no discipline in poker, I keep going busto and never moving up stakes because I lack the ability to play correctly within my limits. Thus, I am challenging myself, starting with play money to play correctly and move up stakes and be at nl50 within two months (i'm insanely busy at the moment, i have baseball and senior trip and a bunch of other shit going on in my life)

As of right now I have made 970k playchips which took me all of two days, I figured that would be the longest part. I'll probably note the differences in the levels and try to make some type of guide as i move forward for players who are just starting or something, thus far I have noticed that the players in playmoney sng are significantly worse than the $1 in the early stages of sng, but on the bubble they are SIGNIFICANTLY better than the players in the $1 sng (this is of course regarding the 80k buyin playchip sng). The playmoney ring is pretty much just terrible, and all in all I really just found it pretty uneventful and im glad that portion went quickly

anyways, i'm trying to sell my playchips and (i think) that i've got someone to buy them so next step, nl2.

this was probably pretty boring, but i just wanted to make it known publicly for some random reason.

It's All Coming Back To Me
  JonnyCosMo, Apr 05 2007

So I started my session today right where I left off yesterday. I sat down at 8 tables, my AA got cracked by KQ in my $20+2 freezeout tourney, and I proceeded to lose 3 full buy-ins in my first 150 hands, all to bad beats or coolers. Shit was sick. So I thought about just stopping playing for the day after my first 400ish hands, then things started to get better... The clouds over my head parted... The sun came out and was shining bright once again. My iTunes randomly selected that song 'It's All Coming Back to Me Now' by Celine Dion. It was truely beautiful... I started to own bitches again.

See that guy on the motorcycle at the begining of this video? Yea that was me... So I played about 1500 hands straight at 1/2 this morning and here are some of the highlights:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169543 - This one could have gotten ugly if I didn't resuck out on him.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169544 - Kinda thin, nothing too impressive. Took a gamble on the flop by flatting this guy's donk lead with a player behind me. Not really sure if that's totally the smartest way to play it, but whatever it worked.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169547 - How to kill an aggro donk 101.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169548 - It's Christmas...

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169549 - How did I know this fish was going to call this shove? LOL Max Value baby

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169550 - Semi-coolered TwistedEcho, AKs vs my AA.

After my 1/2 session I got some coffee and breakfast then Steve (PoorUser) was nice enough to sit down with me and give me his guidance through a 2/4 session. Here are some interesting hands from that:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169552 - Orgasm anyone?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169554 - PoorUser's idea not mine!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169556 - Alotofdonk gets pwned.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169557 - Again, PoorUser's magic hard at work. Dont ask.

Here is the graph of my April so far:

Atleast I'm back to almost even! Yeah baby~!!

Massive bad beats - How to react ?
  Sheitan, Apr 05 2007

Hi guys, im ashamed to post something about this but i seriously need some advices: you can insult me, piss on me whatever. As long as it improves my game. Ive been reading you guys for so long i decided today to create my blog and get some advices from you...

Here is my story: im a 29 yo male canadian blabla and i ve been playing poker for the last 2 months. I discovered the game back then when i was getting bored out of my mind by dota and spent 1 day playing dat shit. Never been playing dota since, i play like 6-8H a day since ive been on vacations in France for 2 months (oh boy!). Made my first deposit 50 bucks and managed to lose it all in 1 day because i thought i was a genius heh. Made a second deposit and decided this time i should go step by step: 30 more bucks.

Bought all books i could find and started the serious business, playing tons of hands, learning how to beat the game. I had many success and went from 30 to 300 $ in a heart beat, not following basic BR management, whatever i was a wild gun and would go all in with all my bankroll when i thought i was ahead... And it worked.

Then i started to lose some money and get massive suck outs/coolers one month ago. Reading shit on this site i started all over again with my BR down to 80 bucks. MTT on PP 3-4 tables NL10 so i can focus on my hands and get the best of it, i thought by this time i will quickly beat this level and start the interesting stuff (6max NL). I managed to reach 300$ slowly getting sucked out here and there but by the end of the day i'd finish making profit.

Then the nightmare began: i could not do one session without me losing to 2 outters, suck outs, coolers. I was thinking it was still ok that's variance so i don't give a flying shit as long as i play my A game. And it has been like this for 3 weeks now, 8H a day playing poker, 8H a day getting bad results, so today i decided to fucking beat the shit out of my keyboard when some random donk pop me with K5o vs my AAs all-in pf. No matter how hard i try, no matter how i play i'd get massively sucked out over and over and over. Yeah i know i sound like a whiney bitch but whatever i needed to let it out.

So 2 days ago i was like wtf im playing too much poker that's why maybe i don't realize im playing poorly so let's stop for a couple of days, go out do some shit.Today i went back to poker and did a session, won 2BIs and lost it all to J5 vs my QQ on a XXJJ5 board, then i played this hand:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/169412

Now im here, crying like a hoe, someone throw me a bone what am i doing wrong ? I'll post some of my hands and hopefully you guys will make fun of me and give me some advices, right now im down to 220 $

Tournament Player Logic LOL...
  JonnyCosMo, Apr 04 2007

"LOL Donkaments" ... the phrase just says it all. I have respect for tournaments players (for the most part) as what they do can be extremely stressful at times. With that said, it's time to rip on this one moron. May I direct your attention to Team USA's captain AppSt2004. Oh? You didn't know he was the captain of Team USA? And the #6 ranked tournament player in 2005 on all of PokerStars? Let's take a closer look:

Link: http://www.pokerstars.com/wcp/event/
AppSt2004 (Captain) - USA Team Captain, Joe Harwell, has run his own real estate business since leaving college. Joe's only been playing 4 years but has plenty of live tournament experience, playing 3 events of last year's WSOP. Joe is one of the top US players in PokerStars TLB rankings, rated the 4th best US player for 2005, and 6th placed in the world.

Ok so I'm playing my 1/2 session this morning, running like total shit (I'll probably post another list of hands in the Hand Discussion later for people to look over), and Mr. Harwell is sitting to my right at one of my tables. Getting right to the point, this happens to me:

Having no previous information on this player, I thought stacking off with a set of 3's was alright. Am I wrong to think so? If you think I am you can start playing tournaments with this moron too. So I get stacked, reload, play on, whatever. Then this idiot says the following:

AppSt2004: 33 no good obv
JonnyCosMo: ???
AppSt2004: treys are into the muck, gg
JonnyCosMo: are you kidding?
AppSt2004: thanks for the coin.
JonnyCosMo: rofl fish, i hope your not serious...
AppSt2004: obv 33 no good
JonnyCosMo: obv your a card rack
AppSt2004: you just called team usa's captain a fish, your funny.

He then proceeds to think that he owned me? He goes off for 30 minutes on why I play bad, and how he's god's gift to the game. Like... wtf? So what moron, you stacked me once on a total cooler and you think you're good!?! Like, the only way he gets any money into that pot is if I have a set of 3's or 2's. He played that hand like your standard tournament fish, minrais, minraise, minraise. I feel like I got dumber from reading what this moron had to say to me. Ok sorry, had to vent that... very frustrating after being up 3 buy-ins and ending your session down 2.5 buyins. Seriously, I'm not smiling

EDIT: Ok I'm smiling again

Empty the clip and let the lord decide
  Daut, Apr 04 2007

This semester I'm "taking" 3 classes. Abstract Algebra 2, Complex/Functional Analysis and Advanced Mathematical Logic 2. I have taking in quotations because I haven't exactly been the model student for attendance.

So I didnt go to abstract algebra for a little while. On the friday after spring break, I decided to make an appearance only to find out that there was a midterm coming up on the following monday. This posed a major problem. Basically, even if I wanted to buckle down and study for it, i had no idea what was even on the test because it had been so long since I had went to class. I figured id just show up to the test and as the title says, empty the clip and let the looooord decide.

I asked the good people in the BBV forum at twoplustwo what I should do, and their response was invariably "DROP OUT!"

Then my buddy Jonny Cosmo drew this graph to describe my situation:

I knew what I had to do. I just didnt go to the test. That's what real poker players do, they fold the hand when they know theyre beat.

So I talked things over with my parents and told them I dont really think grad school is for me. If i'm not motivated enough to go to class and dont want to learn this stuff then I really shouldnt be here. So I'm going to hang out for the rest of the semester and withdraw from my classes.

Ok, so anyway, on to the point of this post. Since then I havent been going to class, i've just been playing poker, working out, watching movies, etc. So I've basically been going down imdb's top 250 list and checking out the movies ive always wanted to but never did, and pretty much have been watching one a day. In the past week I've seen apocalypse now, reservoir dogs, kill bill 1 and 2, and raging bull for the first time ever. but I cant seem to find the one movie i really want to see...

For the past 2 weeks ive been trying to find the seven samurai. Not in best buy, not in circuit city, not in blockbuster, not in the little movie racks at walmart or target. Nowhere. I was beginning to believe this movie didnt really exist. And then I remembered a little movie place down the street called mike's movies. I was sure this dude would have it, i mean he specializes in movies, hes got to.

As I pulled up and saw the front of the store I became really skeptical. I mean on the front window the only movie poster he had was Charlotte's Web.

Imagine walking up to the window of a promising movie store and seeing a 24 x 32 in. shot of that fat little blob's mug. I totally lost faith. i decided to enter anyway.

First I hit up the classics section. No seven samurai.
then I went to the drama section. No seven samurai.
Next I hit up adventure. No seven samurai.

With a disgusted scowl on my face I started to walk out when I just saw it sitting there in the middle of this unnamed rack. WOOHOOO.

It was pretty damn expensive, the movie cost over 40 fucking dollars, but that ain't nothin to a boss.

Time to watch it. Will post results later.

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona
  JonnyCosMo, Apr 04 2007

So recent I've been searching for a new watch (since I left my old favorite Fossil watch in Hawaii with my best friend while I was on vacation there) and so me and milkman have been searching for baller status at an affordable price. It's actually kind of funny how much some people pay for these watches because I'm pretty sure 95% of the price on some of these things are just for the name. Rolex, being one example, has a dozen watches all worth sick amounts of dough, but all baller status ofcourse. While scanning their website I found my dream watch:

May I Introduce to you...The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona

This watch was even named for me. Unfortunately I looked at the price and threw up (Somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,000 at the minimum, figures something that's tagged with "Cosmo" would be that baller :-P). So I guess the search continues. Anyone know of a good watch that has a similar style to this one, but is also somewhat affordable? Like in the mini-baller range of under $1000? If so, give me a heads up.

Im playing less tables and focusing much much more on each hand I'm involved in. I winning at a pretty steady rate again. I feel like making good folds is going to be more important to my success than anything else. Thanks to all who've helped me out and given advice. <3 LP.net

I Run Like a Special Olympics Runner

... So today sucked some royal ass. Started off the day early and played a session that lasted 2 hours and came out of it down $450. Then after my nap and a work out I kicked up another session and managed to lose another $500 all at NL200. Like wtf... I think this picture sums up what I'm feeling:

Playing E-Poker at Hollywood Park

Notice how I'm still smiling? I'm pretty sure I was stuck like $300 all to Daut and Lyric at the time this picture was taken. This about sums up my feeling of fake wonderfulness. I feel like jumping into oncoming traffic.

On another note, I'd like to take this time to point out how bad carrotsnake is at poker. Why do people at twoplustwo think this guy is the God of NL200 on Stars?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/168605 <-- Calls a 4 bet all-in with AJo
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/168604 <-- Retard bluff vs a total aggro donk. What does he expect the guy to fold? LOL...

This guy is so stupid it hurts my head. If you think he's good or hard to play against, your probably not too good yourself. There is no way this guy wins at the winrate he claims on the twoplustwo forums.
