Black Friday shopping thread
  PuertoRican, Nov 16 2012

sup.

Can someone who's knowledgeable about "Black Friday" shopping threads, please make a thread in the General forum, since the holiday's are coming up soon.

We just need 1 solid person to start off the thread, then everyone else can contribute to the thread. I don't have enough knowledge on all the deals to make a decent thread myself.

----------

I'm looking to purchase a new pair of headphones before the end of the year. Do you guys have any suggestions? They can be either audio style where you use them mostly just for music purposes, or a gaming headset. I don't like the headphones that have the black coating on the ear area, cuz that will flake/peel off over time.

Basically, I'm just looking for a headset with good sound and bass. I don't need the best headset on the market, since I'm just using it for recreational, everyday use. The headset I have now is a gaming headset, which I've used for 7 years, and it's time to upgrade since this pair is falling apart.

Free burger
  PuertoRican, Jul 02 2012

Free burger at Carl's Jr. on July 4th if you dress like Spider-Man, without the mask.

----------

I don't own any Spider-Man related attire, but some of you might have kids who do, so if you're into eating unhealthy food, go grab yourself a free burger.

MyPillow
  PuertoRican, Jun 23 2012

The creator/founder looks sketchy as fuck, and I'd never leave him alone around any kids, especially not with that random cross he's hanging from his neck that looks like he's trying to please the audience.

----------

This is my review on MyPillow, a pillow that is only sold over the internet, phone, or at a few conventions where people sell random shit.

I decided to write this after using MyPillow for exactly 1 month.

I was skeptical of MyPillow at first because it wasn't sold in stores and the price for the pillow seemed excessive ($89.95), even though I already owned 2 feathered down pillows ($100 each), that I used for 8 years prior to this new purchase. Just like anything I want but costs too much, I waited a few months until the price went down or until I saw a discount on it. After a few months, I saw a discount code on TV for MyPillow that gave you 25% off, so I purchased it the same day.

Anyway, I slept on my back during the first night I use, and after I woke up, the back of my head felt a little sore for some reason, like if I was laying my head against a hard surface for too long or something.

The second night, I decided to not use any pillow to test if it was the pillow or not.

After the second night, I decided to go back to YouTube and watch the user-guide for MyPillow as well as some user uploaded reviews. I forgot that MyPillow keep the shape you mold it into, so, I decided to mold it into the shape I wanted and haven't had any problems during the past month.

I've noticed that the pillow seemed to get softer after the first week, and I don't mean it was hard as a rock or it lost its shape after using it, I just mean that it seems more comfortable to use now and I can still mold it into any shape I want.

I would recommend this pillow for the following reasons:

- I'm able to noticeably have more dreams now, when compared to before. They mention this in their advertising too. "rem sleep"
- The pillow is machine washable and you can put it in a dryer.
- There's a 60 day money back guarantee. (I read reviews that say MyPillow charges you a re-stocking fee or something like that, which costs $20-$25. I'm not sure if this is true, but I'm not returning this pillow anyway.)
- There's a 10 year warranty on the pillow.
- After shipping to California, it was $70 for the pillow.

The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr

About

The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr is a documentary about the mixed martial arts career and personal life of Mark Kerr. The documentary is critically acclaimed for its sobering account of the brutal sport of early no holds barred fighting and the depths of addiction in which Kerr succumbs to and eventually overcomes.

----------

Better quality version below, but, it's dubbed in German. You could sync the above and below video if you really wanted to. Although, I watched the lesser video quality version while at my desk eating dinner, so the quality wasn't an issue.

Elias Garcia MMA
  PuertoRican, Jun 13 2012

About

"Talented amateur MMA Fighter Elias Garcia is profiled during training, as he prepares for his June 23 title fight. At 19 years old, Garcia's skill level surpasses that of many veterans of the sport. Garcia is the cousin of UFC number one contender Anthony Pettis. Coaches and fellow fighters are interviewed, including his next contender. Student Producer/Director Kenneth Williams."

----------

This documentary is a decent watch for any fight fan. The filming didn't seem top notch, especially since I think this was shown on a local TV station in Wisconsin, but, the storyline and interviews with such fighters as Sergio Pettis, Anthony Pettis, Erik Koch, Ben Askren, Allen Belcher, and Duke Roufus, pick up the slack.

Tough Mudder
  PuertoRican, Apr 07 2012

Aside from letting you guys know about the Tough Mudder event, I'm trying to see if there's anyone going to any of the many events that are held around the world.
It would be a great time to do this event, as well as meet up with some fellow LP`ers along the way and team up for this event, since some of the courses require help from other people.

I've been talking to some friends, and we got a 5 person group so far that will enter the Diablo Grande event in Northern California. Taho filled up too fast.

----------

About

Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. As the leading company in the booming obstacle course industry, Tough Mudder has already challenged half a million inspiring participants worldwide and raised more than $2 million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project. But Tough Mudder is more than an event, it’s a way of thinking. By running a Tough Mudder challenge, you’ll unlock a true sense of accomplishment, have a great time, and discover a camaraderie with your fellow participants that’s experienced all too rarely these days.

FACT #1 – Marathon running is boring

And the only thing more boring than doing a marathon is watching a marathon. Road-running may give you a healthy set of lungs, but will leave you with as much upper body strength as Keira Knightley. At Tough Mudder, we want to test your all-around mettle, not just your ability to run in a straight line, on your own, for hours on end, getting bored out of your mind. Our obstacle courses are designed by British Special Forces to test you in every way and are meant only for truly exceptional all-around people, not for people who have enough time and money to train their knees to run 26 miles.

FACT #2 – Mudders do not take themselves too seriously

Triathlons, marathons, and other lame-ass mud runs are more stressful than fun. Not Tough Mudder. As hardcore as our courses are, we meet you at the finish line with a beer, a laugh, and a rockin’ live band. It’s pretty hard to take yourself seriously when you’re covered in mud and have just finished an obstacle called ‘Just The Tip’, so please don’t show up at a Tough Mudder without a sense of humor. Just check out the ridiculous team costumes in our event photos to get a feel for the spirit of Tough Mudder.

FACT #3 – You cannot complete a Tough Mudder course alone

To get through mud, fire, ice-water, and 10,000 volts of electricity you’ll need teammates to pick you up when your spirits dip. To get over 12 foot walls and through underground mud tunnels, you’ll need teammates to give you a boost and a push. Tough Mudders are team players who make sure no one gets left behind. To that end, all Mudders are expected to uphold our ideals and exhibit teamwork and camaraderie both on the course and off it. All participants are asked to join us in reciting the Tough Mudder pledge before starting each event.
