so in order to keep my weak ego intact i too must post some results
best month ever in terms of learning.
i played three or so regs in HU who were quite a bit better than me last month, and they turned out to be the most +ev long term spots, i asked one of them to tell me all my leaks since i gave him action and he told me all my leaks+ gave me a list of all the midstakes regs that give HU action.
also played a leggopoker coach and he's going to make a leakfinder video with a recording of me playing at 1/2 deep.
stuff

I got a new place, living with silver from lp with a goal to make monies for a few months. We are thinking of adopting the idea of penalty stunts from the tv show 2 months 2 million next year, any suggestions for embarrassing penalty stunts are welcome.
poker has been going averagely this half of the year. had a 20kish downswing in july and have almost completely recovered from it, but have still lost about 12k at 2/4 since my 20k downswing. i've just been taking shots over and over again at 2/4

august
Stroggoz, Aug 31 2011
moved up to 2/4 a week or so before august, and also started playing 1/2 deep tables.
first graph is 2/4
2nd graph is 1/2, mostly 1/2 deep.
I had some pretty big swings at 2/4 so i decided to grind 1/2, then i discovered deep tables which have some pretty bad regs, and fish which buy in for 250bbs. I got exploited a bit by the better 1/2 deep regs since i hadnt played deep before, and getting used to the 3bet/4bet dymanics was difficult. Because there are some situations where i would normally 3bet for value in 100bb poker with AQo, but when i 3bet that hand for value in 250bb poker and they 4bet, and im oop it really sucks heh.
overall though im used to 1/2 deep tables now and i can definitely say that these tables are insanely crushable for 5 reasons. I recommend people to learn and play these tables at any limit.
1) i get to know all the regs fast since only 2-4 tables run at a time.
2) sipinho plays 1/2 deep
3) a lot of the regs dont mind playing HU.
4) megafish buying in for 250bb is win.
August has probably been the best month for me so far because i dropped down to 4-6 tables again, instead of the usual 9-12 that i had been doing in the previous two months.
And i measure how good my month is in terms of improvement as well as money.
time until i quit poker multiplied by level of improvement per month= how much money i will gain from poker.
I hope to move up to 2/4 and 3/6 deep tables soon after next month.
beatable rake?
Stroggoz, Jul 25 2011
just a short blog.
I've been getting into live poker recently at my local casino. the games there are very soft (nl200). And the tables are purely fish, i'd say about as easy as nl5 or possibly nl2. but the rake is 10% on every pot, with a $10 cap. which is insanely high. I can beat 1/2 6max online with a 1BB/100 winrate, do you think these live games are beatable with that amount of rake?
analyzing longples coaching
Stroggoz, Jul 15 2011
Well, i was lucky enough to get two free lessons of longples coaching, and it was a really good experience to see what goes on in the mind of someone who crushes the higher stakes. It was also just a lot of fun talking about poker. He taught me a lot about bet sizing, and how to save a bundle of money. There is one thing he taught me though, that is really high level and it stuck out from everything else. Lets analyze this play that he taught me.
heres public link for easier reading cause i dunno how to get teh cool symbols. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/912553

This is just my analysis, so i may be wrong in some parts about the opponents range and stuff.
so here we see longple 3bets JTs deep, flops the nuts and goes for value on flop and turn. All pretty standard stuff.
The really important part of this hand is the river.
When we get to the river, villain can have alot of top pair type hands like T9s. He can also get to the river with a 6 a decent amount with hands like 76s, 66 maybe.
So what happens against a good regular when we make a pretty normal bet size of $4k~ on the river?
Well we can get top pair to fold here quite alot, hands with a 6 will just flat call so we get value from them. I'd imagine most regs would not have two pair or a set here too often, again this is something i'm not too sure on.
so what happens if we bet $1500~ on the river vs a good regular?
well, with their top pair hands they could be calling alot, or they could turning top pair into a bluff here as well, as a good regular would realize that top pair is hardly ever good here vs this bet sizing. But The best thing about this bet sizing, is you are inducing a value raise from a lower straight very often. So even with this small bet on the river, you actually get more value from a straight, than if you would bet a standard size of 4k. So vs a GOOD regular who will value raise lower straights here, this play becomes very good.
There's also the added bonus when we are this deep, that we are going to put them in a very strange spot once we jam over the top here. A spot where even if they are a good reg they can make mistakes here.
TL;DR:
betting smaller can get you MORE value from almost their ENTIRE RANGE vs GOOD REGULARS. i like talking in caps when its important.
Anyways, their were a few other interesting hands we went over that i may post in upcoming blogs, and im feeling very comfortable at 1/2 after those coaching lessons. I hope to move up to 2/4 soon and my goal is to get to 3/6 by the end of the end of the year. (started at nl50 in feb)
Im also looking to start coaching nl25-nl100 regs for free once i get a pretty decent winrate at nl400. I'm an impressionable person so yeah, charity inspires charity.
