  Luna_Bluffgood, Mar 01 2008

The brother of a friend of a friend of mine took down the Party Poker Bad Beat Jackpot last night for 187k

He plays 0.10/0.25 obv. (5/10 now imo)

On a sidenote: Took good advantage of 29th on Stars, played about 7k hands for 5800 VPP (platinum for the first time) and ~12k FPP. 40" inch screen will be shipped soon I hope <3

Live Tourney <3
  Luna_Bluffgood, Dec 09 2007

Chopped the 50+8€ deepstack at the local cardroom for about 800e, which is quite a nice edition for my real life bankroll. Also I can use the money to party in Vienna on New Years'.

I got unbelievable lucky though. I raised it all in with 5bbs left with 66 utg+1 after a guy (with 3 bbs left limped). The guy behind me folded 88, the guy behind him folded TT. The guy under the gun with 3bb had limped TT and called. I flopped a set, so he was drawing dead, which is always nice. Then I got it all in with like 8bbs and 12 people left AQ vs QJ and vs AA for a smaller sidepot, board came 9TxK).

I can moderatedly assume I was the best player though. People just kept throwing away 88/99/TT etc against my raised, although they had like 5 bb left.

10 made the final table and the only girl at the table busted early (bummer, she was fiiiiine).
7 made the money and it took forever to get down to that. I didnt get any hands at all. Pretty much everyone hat less then 15, so I pushed AJ once I think, but that was it. Finally we got it down to 7, so people loosened up a bit, but still were unbelievable weak/tight. I got some hands and chipped up nicely (still staying under 10 bb for most of the time though). With 3 players left and none having more than 100bb I pushed KT from the button for like 70k blinds at 6000/12000. Normaly rather loose SB folded JJ (wtf?). I "bulldozed" 3 handed play until I raised to 40k with 23o from the button because the SB had gone to the toilet. Unfortunately the really weaktigh BB pushed A5 for 20k more so I couldnt really fold and doubled him up.
Then I had a nice suckout once again. I check/pushed Js4c ond a 4s7sks board against KJ. AFter that we were all pretty even with about 130k each, the blinds being at 8000/16000. Then the rather loose player asked for a chop, because it was already like 3:30 am. I had KK in the hole at that time and disagreed. I won the blinds and antes, but a hand later I casually told them I had reconsidered, so we chopped it 3 ways.

I should save the money to buy a car, because I took the bike there and its a good 30min ride through the mountains
(fucking austria, mountains everywhere).

My theory is that is all part of my "welcome to rednines"-upswing. Of course it's all in my head...online poker is not rigged, but it's nice to run good when you switch sites. Who knows, I might switch every two weeks...

Rednines has shipped me 8 buy ins in the first 1,1k hands, which is pretty nice. (I also got a nice welcome to party poker upswing with +6 BIs in 350 hands)

My shot taking at NL200 has not worked how I hoped it would, so I'm down in October so far.

However I'm very glad how Poker is going for me lately. I had my biggest ever winning month in September. (started with 3k, ended with 8,5k)
Unfortunately that will be my biggest winning month for quite a while .
I'm already properly rolled for NL200. However, I'm still gonna stay at NL100 until I'm a bit more comfortable at Rednines. The software really takes some getting used to.

P.S.

bought a new monitor. It's a 22" widescreen from LG

I was not really satisfied with my old 17" medion, but this will do for a while. Party/Stars tables fit quite alright. Unfortunately the Red9 tables are rather large and not resizable (the sorta miniview is not really a valid option), so I have a little overlap, but it's quite alright. I wouldnt wanna play there on a smaller monitor though.

That's it so far.
Thx for listening

Deepstackaments
  Luna_Bluffgood, Sep 24 2007

Well it took a while, but I finally got the tournament cash I needed to spice up my PS roll again.
(what also took a while was that deepstack shit, 13 hours man...now i can remotely imagine what WCOOP FTers must feel like)

I was kind of discouraged by my performances in the last two months losing about 1k at tournies, since I havent had a major cashes during that time. I had really doubted my tournament play as of late, but with another FT at the 3+r and this now I feel confident again that I can be a +EV tourney player at least for everything between 1$ and 109$ buy in for now. I should have enough on PS now to handle the variance that comes along with it.

I'll definitely have to start reviewing and discussing hands more.

It feels good to have added a significant amount to my br, which should now be around 8,7k. I have 3,6k at stars, which means that I dont have to redeposit all the time when I feel like playing lp tournies :D or play satelites when I'm in sunday warmup/million shot taking mood.

Unfortunately due to the semester restarting in about 3 weeks I won't be able to have long tourney nights like this one anymore. But I'm just glad that I won a tourney with more than 180 for once

Helga! Or is it?
  Luna_Bluffgood, Aug 23 2007

I'm sure you all remember Helga, the german beer drinking girl.

You know...

...her

So now that i got everyone's attention, let's proceed.
Well, after the little love triangle between her, Sakisaki and Daut, which I found quite entertaining, I conducted a little investigation myself to try to identify the german beer lady. I mean how hard can it be...

Anyway, there is german internet community for students, where basically everyone signs up. There is a group there, whose name roughly translates into: "We only drink beer on days that end with the letter Y". this group has around 64k members, and when I clicked it, I found a very familiar face being the "cover girl" for this group. Exactly the same picutre that was posted in this forum a while ago, also is the theme picture of this group. So I thought, with 64k members, someone ought to know her...so I created a threak asking if someone knew her

...and whaddayaknow, an old classmates of hers responded. I shall make contact with her shortly, but this is what I know so far:
Her real name is Steffi.
She finished high-school this year, so she ought to be 19-20 years old.
She went to the Elsa-Brändström-Gymnasium.
She lives in Munich.

Oh, and the classmate of her studies beer brewery, so SakiSaki, you could also marry her and open a brewery.

If anyone cares...
  Luna_Bluffgood, Aug 22 2007

A little introduction of myself:

My name is Luna Bluffgood and im currently in my 6th year at Hogwarts. I'm about 5.5" and have blond long hair and my voice is all weird...

Ok that's a lie.
I'm no girl actually and I'm not pretending to be one just to get any pedophiles' attention. I am just a little harry potter fanatic (thx to Emma Watson, who was the reason I started reading th books) and found this nickname to be quite amusing.

My real name is Simon (I do have blond hair though).
I'm currently on semester break from law school. I study german law the University of Passau, Germany, which is situated at the rivers Donau, Inn and Ilz in Lower Bavaria right on the austrian border. I'm also doing the external law program of the university of London to study english law.

During the semester I don't have that much time to poker, because of the sick amounts we law students have to study (Hello Cutsss), but since im on break now I've been putting in quite a few hours.

As for poker, like most here I guess, I got into it through my StarCraft friends, when we played a few sngs at the infamous ToT LAN with Strafe, Muhweli etc.
I still play StarCraft occasionally (my nick is PfiliTheDwarf on europe, TheDwarf being my clan -ATTENTION BRAG- we play in BWCL-1a, but we'll go back to bwcl-2

Of course I didnt't know jack about poker that time, but I eventually got the sick amount of 5$ from PokerStrategy.de and started playing 0.01/0.02 fixed, which kinda helped me to get a good theoretic undertanding of the theory of the game. Eventually I rose in stakes to 0.5/1 fixed with around 300$. Then I hit a nice downer to eventually go near broke.

I got lucky at the right time though and used my last 4.40$ to play a 180 man sng. I got farely deep in chips, but then had to leave and Strafe took over and made 4th place for me and I got shipped the sick amount of 57.60$. I tried fixed for a while again, but was bored eventually. I got lucky once again and won a sunday million seat in a 3+r with the help of my peers and then started out with NL. I pledged that I would continue playing fixed, because I found the risk of losing so much money in NL so quickly to be unsuitable for the nature of my character. Well, that promise didn't last, and I don't think I played a hand of fixed online since then. I didn't really enjoy getting called down until the river with bottom pair and that happened a lot since I played FR. I guess fixed limit can be quite fun, but I estimate that the real play starts at 2/4 6max and I never got that high.

Well, anyhow, I was taken right in by NL and managed a fairly easy transition. I think my fixed knowledged helped me a lot there, as well as Strafe, Muhweli, Mondi etc. so thanks for that.

Well i already bored you enough. I've been playing NL for a year now. I got up as far NL100 with a bankroll peak of around 4k. When I started studying last October I stopped playing for good until Christmas, when I went to Vienna with Dissy, Rob and Arthur to the Concorde Card Casino. After that I was infatuated again, so I started rebuilding my BR, then hit a downer, and combined with bad play that's not something you enjoy. After a nice February, where I made around 1,5k, I didn't have a winning month until this August now.

Due to my semester break I've sick amounts of time now (although I probably should be studying criminal law, but nvm). I played around 23k this month so far, which, for 4-tabling is quite a lot, compared to how little I played before.

Here are my stats for the month.

Not particularly great, but I am just glad to have a winning month again. Unfortunately I can't get a grip on tourneys atm. More on that in the next episode. I've been writing way too much now anyway.

I'm on a sick run btw the last two days. Feels good.

My nicks are NineOne0ne on PS, manyfold on FTP and Sushi-fish on UB, so don't be shy to say hi.

So long

LAWL Blogaments
  Luna_Bluffgood, Aug 20 2007

Why does a mediocre NL50 player need a blog you ask?

Well, dont ask me, but it seems like everyone is writing one these days, so I'm going with the flow, or swimming with the fish if you will.

Anyway, I thirly enjoy reading some of the blogs, I guess you could say im a blog fetischist. I regularly read blogs of Negreanu, Antonius, greenplastic, muddywater, Bryan Townsend, kaibuxxe, and ofc the ultimate blog of Ryan "No Doubt" Daut (ty for that awesome nickname Vince), plus some blogs to see how everyone is doing atm, like midian, twisted, muhweli, Artanis.
In short, I read a lot and dream about the day i might play for such sick amounts

So since I enjoy reading them so much, I thought i might enjoy writing them as well, and maybe have some other people enjoy it. I'm no byrnesam, but I'll try to keep it on the funny side as far as possible.
I don't like bad beat blogs, so I'll try to avoid them (unless i get a really sick beat you know -_-)

You might be confronted with the occasional brag post, but come on, that's pretty much what blogs are for anyway.

Another reason I like writing is my love for the english language. I'll try and use this blog to further strengthen my english and make up for the horrible english a lot of german people have.

Expect more information of me coming in soon.

P.S.

Here's a little treat for you lovers of suck, resuck, reverse domination, or whatever you wanna call it.
