Micro Update
  jase, Apr 16 2008

So I've moved up to NL10, I told myself I'd play over 10k hands at NL5 even though I was well rolled for NL10 just to start to get a feel for 6max, here's how my graph ended up;

Today I played my first session at NL10, I was lucky enough to have kimseongchan watch over my shoulder and give me some tips. Pretty much all the hands I got into were very standard++ but there was a couple we just weren't sure of, so any opinions on these would be great =]

Hand1;
Easy fold here right? Maybe AT or A9?
+ Show Spoiler +

Hand2;
Pretty standard yes? Assuming any club, 7 or 8 is an out?
+ Show Spoiler +

Hand3;
I think I normally would have folded here to anyone else but the guy has been playing back at me a lot and trying to be tricky and stuff.
+ Show Spoiler +

Hand4;
Never fold kings pre right?
+ Show Spoiler +

Microcash update
  jase, Apr 01 2008

So as I've pointed out in my previous blog entries, I started out playing micro cash the last few weeks after having played SNGs for a few months. I feel I'm still definetely not a good player in any respect, I learn more and more every day either from watching others play, reading LP or just playing my own hands.

So I played NL2 even though I was well rolled for NL5 (Arguably NL10) just to start getting the feel of 6max cashgames and grinded out $30 there in 2 days or something easy (I usually only play 4 tables and only play 2hr sessions, but usually 2-3 sessions a day).

After moving up to NL5 I was feeling confident after making 3 buy-ins at NL5 in my first session (sitting with $5, not $10). After that session things changed drastically, was veryyyyy swingy, pretty much broke even for a few days, took some ridiculous beats like these;
+ Show Spoiler +

Anyway I definetely played bad for a few days hence the swingy graph, I was pretty down over losing so many buy-ins so quickly, but then I took 2 days off and came back completely refreshed and confident and played to the best of my abilities, and while it was still swingy, I was happy with how I played. I won some pretty nice pots like these;
+ Show Spoiler +

Anyway posting this graph is kinda tough for me, I hate looking bad It's extremely swingy and I really think I can be a very good player because I'm so hard on myself, I can really relate to kimseongchan's blog found here - http://kimseongchan.liquidpoker.net/

Anyway here is my graph, shoutouts to Ftrunkz for being a balla and driving me to the local freerolls, lachlan_fearn for keeping me sane throughout my 3am 4buyin losses, KeanuReaver for staking me for 10x 4/180s and any other micro stakes players on LP

edit: Any input on this hand would be really good, was fairly sure he was on the flushdraw but couldn't get him off it, is he just a nl25 donk that can't let go of a draw? In retrospect I would have normally raised to $2.20 on the turn I think

4/180 Staking
  jase, Mar 28 2008

Really desperately wanting someone to stake me for this.
60% profit + stake back to you (obv)

Had a really bad downswing at 6max cash. Cannot believe how badly I'm running, it's disgusting. Most hands are posted already, it's not a result of tilt or spewing, it's just horrid variance.

If anybody is willing to stake me for even 5 or more of the 4/180s please let me know. I'm not safely rolled to play them myself.

Nutshot has staked me in the past and will vouch for me being honest and a good player, he made a profit off me about a month ago when he staked me for 10 of them.

If you'd like to talk MTT strategy or see my 4/180 stats I'd be willing to share those too.
Thanks LP
GL
edit: Also I think lachlan_fearn, deadman, Ftrunkz and rnbsalsa will vouch for me too

SNGs to Cashgames
  jase, Mar 23 2008

So I've been playing 6max cash for a few days, I started at NL2 to get a feel for things even though I'm well rolled for NL10, I just wanted to get a sense of things, obviously crushed that for a few days, I've now moved up to NL5 I am up but things seem swingy. I think I may be trying to make some plays that just aren't +EV at these levels because of the level of thinking that these players employ.

This is my graph for NL5 so far (short sample size I know) but mannnn I ran bad last night and tilted a little due to a few hands, so I quit. I played really solid tonight and worked it back up though.

When I make a $100 profit at NL5 I'll move up to NL10. I'm trying to set goals so I can improve my discipline which will need to improve if I want to be a winner at cashgames.

Graph:

Also coming from SNGs I've had to adapt a little to 6max, can anyone tell me how these stats look? (Small sample size, I know);

edit: Also if anyone is interested in staking me for some 4/180s shoot me a PM, read previous blog entries for details.

4/180 Staking
  jase, Mar 19 2008

Bumping last blog post.

Also been playing some cashgames for something to do, here's a few of my interesting hands;
#1 - Not sure whether my river call is good. I considered folding but I also considered raising.
+ Show Spoiler +

#2 - Last two times I had caught my flush on the turn or river and he had shoved a set once and twopair when the flushcard came over. I think he may be scared shoving which is very odd, but I have found it to be pretty common at NL2 over the last 2 days.
+ Show Spoiler +

#3 - Should I not shove here? I didn't want him drawing but I was also scared of a set at the same time.
+ Show Spoiler +

#4 - PKS Ace is a pretty solid player, but I had pulled a few moves on him in a couple of tables and I think he may have been playing back in frustration
+ Show Spoiler +

#5 - Standard shove I think?
+ Show Spoiler +

#6 - Should I raise flop/turn here? I know I got all my chips in in the end but maybe I could have got more out of mcoles?
+ Show Spoiler +

Any comments on how those were played badly/well/could be better would be nice, I'll add why I did what to some of them in a bit.

GLGL

edit: Also, I've only been playing 6max cash for a couple days now after playing SNGS for a few months so any criticism is welcome

Update
  jase, Mar 18 2008

So I've finished the 10 4/180s that I got staked for by nutshot, I made myself a small profit and made nutshot a profit also, I ended up cashing in 4/10 and final table'd twice which is nice!

I think I did pretty well, my strength is definetely shorthanded play and bubble play, taking advantage of players that tighten up on the bubble is so easy. After playing the 4/180s I'm finding it difficult to go back to the 1/18s, I just don't find them as fun anymore because there's not as much money on the line. >

Last 4 days or so I've been playing some cash, mostly NL2 or NL5 6max. Eventually I want to move to cash permanently, and even though I'm rolled for NL5 and arguably NL10 I want to play NL2 to really adapt to having to put up with retards which I'll find at every limit. So far I'm positive in NL2 over 4 days. Up about $25 I think.

Shoutout to nutshot for staking me for the 10 4/180s, was sweet fun and I definetely learnt a lot and made a profit, which is always good , thanks very much man.
If anybody else would be interested in staking me for some I'd be happy to work out a deal and definitely have another go at them, at the moment I'm not rolled enough to play them safely with my own money.
I'll end this blog with a screenshot of my SNG stats since the beginning which I'm quite proud of having only played poker for a few months now;

^^ Does anyone know how to remove those N/A Tournaments from my PT Database? ^^

Staked for 10x 4/180s
  jase, Mar 04 2008

So nutshot has been so kind to stake me for 10 of these, I've played 4 and gone deep in each one, usually about 10 off the bubble only to get sucked out on, maybe I should be folding to the money at lesat when I'm playing with a stake, but I really do want to take one of these down.
I lost KK to JJ, KA to KJ/AJ (not that bad) and another time hit the nut-flush on the turn only to get it in against bottom set and him to river a fullhouse lol, oh well. Hopefully the next few will go better and I can make myself and nutshot some $$$

In other news; ASIAN RICKROLL

OH ALSO how could i forget, tonight was the semi-final for the one dayers (cricket) in Australia, a streaker ran onto the field whilst Andrew Symonds was batting, this is how he retaliated;
