SAT Grind part2
  LemOn[5thF], Oct 17 2009

After a very long time I had one 7HR+ session.
Boy do I miss the times when I was a fulltime grinder :o

On the negative side, I busted out of both freerolls again (well out of the 100fpp one because my GF forced me to go to pub with her -.-)

Well, cya you grinders, it was nice to enter your world once again after a very long time.
Now its time to leave the fish to you and go back to my 1k hands/day average -.-

Saturday Grind - Part 1
  LemOn[5thF], Oct 17 2009

Whats happening TL,

This is the first day in about 3 months when I plan on having a huge grinding session.

Got to sleep early last night so I am finally rested, my GF is working and having a dinner with friends or sth, which means today is one huge grind.

Part 1: Weekend Swings:

Its not easy to change your thinking completely during the weekend.
I am currently at NL25, and FE goes WAYYYY down during this time.
Well, let this first part be a lesson to me, I must tighten up even further and especially not pay off the typical NL25 regs who call any 3bet/squeeze with small pps.

I also managed what I must do all the time: completely ignore my results. I had no Idea if I am down $200 or up $200 when I finished the session, and thats the way it should be.

The session was very swingy and I had set over set, lost to set over set, and had twice KKvAA at the beginning.
Well whatever, I don't get tilted from this that much any more. However I did identify one huge leak: Relying on stats/play when I saw villain play for only <100 hands (and acting on it completely).

This is a huge flaw in my game and I must stop making plays at villains when my reads and stats mean jack shit as the samples are so tiny.

I am going for a lunch break, and at 3pm begin the grind, escallating with free rolls (I didn't cash in SN freeroll in 10 consecutive weeks, and had only some irrelevant cash in 100fpp free roll)

I must say that I expect this grind to be isolated instance unfortunately, I never have energy/time to really play whole day anymore.

LemOn out.

Swings -,-

Maniac (yeah I mean him this time)
+ Show Spoiler +

Fish (I was considering shove on the flop to look cool, his raise was SUPERSTRONG)
+ Show Spoiler +

All this and other stuff led to this.

(Retard I know)
+ Show Spoiler +

I almost cracked the Matrix as I now fully understand that variance is the one and only reason why anyone but the casinos/clients can make good money out of poker, but I still can't control my spewy heart.
I feel like I am on a great way to recovery though and one day I will not get tilted at all.

+ Show Spoiler +

Weak tight fish (On the turn I fold out pocket pairs that he would call flop with, he didn't fold so I am like cool c/f when he fires the super transparent blockbet I have seen him do with crap before :D)

It was most likely -ev play as I didn't have appropriately large sample to be able to put this villain away from the NL25 median of players with these stats, but w/e, I am not here to win money, I am here to learn.

+ Show Spoiler +

And tamtadada....

GREAT SPOT TO COLD 4BET BLUFF AT NL25
First time at limit below NL50 I must say.
non-spewy tags, position, blockers, some postflop value - I got it all baby, I though it would be a sin not to 4bet.

raiser: 32/23/1 /80% fold to 3bet
3Bettor: 19/17/3/ 8% 3bet who was 3betting 'In the field' a decent amount.

One of these days
  LemOn[5thF], Oct 10 2009

I can'r remember when I had a session as good as this one, its by far the best one since I started working.
6 hours of grind well spent

+I watched 2 DC vids
- latest 2m2m episode (by far the best one, if we discount the playboy ladies maybe), and what I seriously don't understand is why they didn't do the lock down right from the beginning.
I would really love to see at least one true grinder of JoeIngram's calibre there.

-I also have seen The Poker Star
I must say that it was epic, best show ever and everybody has to see it. Not only I got a great lesson on how to read people when you are not at the poker table, but some seriously advanced theory was mentioned.
All under the command of the best Australian poker player!

Other shiz:
-My Executive office chair finally arrived. Its awesome as fuck and I can't believe I didn't buy one earlier
-What also arrived is my new phone. Its one of them 'smart' touchphones with QWERTY keyboard and MS software. Excel, Outlook, Diary, PDFs what have you.
Too bad that Pokerstars don't do mobile market just yet, starting a donkament and playing the final table on the bus/at college/work mens room would be awesome.

[P]: Huge Tilt, but running hot?
  LemOn[5thF], Oct 05 2009

Poll: You play bad and are tilted, but the cards just keep coming.Would you:
(Vote): Keep on trucking. You play bad but hey, nobody posts +EV graphs anyway.
(Vote): You look at your BR, set a point in time and play until you hit a stop loss.
(Vote): You keep playing until the luck starts running out
(Vote): You quit/take a long break and come back when you pulled yourself together.
(Vote): You quit unless some tables are so juicy they are still +ev with neutral deck

So today I came from soccer we play with other people in Finance Department, and I started some tables. I had a dinner during that time and then was becoming really tired and really tilted because of other reasons.

You know the feeling: Weak tight is your motto and at some random points in time you pull out huge spews here and there.

But the cards just keep coming.
Where I should run at -6bb/100 in my present condition, I run +10bb/100.

This situation creates the biggest leaks as you subconsciously see the TT shoved 4way winning you 300bb, or simply that people fold to your raises or that weak/tight is good as the cards will come anyway and there is no reason to lose/risk anything more.

Well I wonder how this turns out

Numbered random update!
  LemOn[5thF], Oct 04 2009

1) Surrogates movie SUCKED.

It seemed short, the plot was lacking any depth and also I have seen Gamer two weeks ago so the concept of remote life was boring this time around.

2)

Poll: Do you think that using sunbeds is gay?
(Vote): Yes
(Vote): No

3) I shaved after 3 months, got a haircut and went for a sunbed. Not that I care how I look like but it brings a little bit of sun into this Scottish dump called Edinburgh -.-

If it wasn't for the suits I am wearing all the time, people might have actually mistaken me for a homeless person.

I also ordered creatine/protein powder and I really want to get back to weight lifting and exercise again. I actually gained about 17Kg in 3 years which is pretty horrendous.

4) Poker wise: I am still grinding NL10. I had two failed shots at NL25, both during the weekend. The fact that its weekend changes everything as you know, as the games are ridiculously soft.
But that also means that variance kicks in brutally(although in the long run my graphs would be hugely up-swinging in this environment), and I found out that when I go 40 times all in and am forced to ship any TP like 30 times per session, only to lose to them random 73o 2 pairs, I need more than 20 BI.

Even at NL10 which I beat at 6bb+ over 80k+ hands sample I experience 10 BI swings.

5)Doing some maintenance:
- I purged my database (My PC couldn't handle it and I had ridiculous loading times, there is no need to have a large database at micros anyway)
- After my pimp chair didn't arrive and my money was returned I ordered another one from a different supplier

-I ordered a phone. I am actually getting one of them HTC smart phones with QWERTY keyboard, I really wonder what excel on a phone looks like :o

6) I want to remind you something that is very true :VARIANCE IS THE ONLY REASON WHY YOU CAN MAKE DECENT MONEY OUT OF POKER

7)) My plan for pokerz:
I will grind it up to 30BI for NL25 this time around, and then go to NL50 with 24BI 4 tabling where I never had any troubles as the variance is a lot lower than at NL10/25.

I will try to read 2 Pokerstrategy articles per week and watch 5dc vids

BR: 540 (from a low point of 320 lol)

HF Yo, thanks for reading

Variance is awesome

Why do people here keep bitching about the only reason why they can make decent money out of poker?

I beat NL10!
  LemOn[5thF], Sep 27 2009

Yeah baby, I officially pronounce myself as a winning player at NL10!
Bring it on NL25 -.-

All this while watching 4 vids from DC.

-Learned quite a bit about reverse implied odds
-Learned about necessity of assessing the board when we hit a drawing hand in relation to our implied odds
-Finally I fully understand how stove calculates % against ranges, and some basics on how to do it myself (e.g. possible combinations of cards, card removal etc.)
-Learned some forum etiquette, and that majority of people on forums think they know everything. I will try to avoid falling into that category myself from now on :o
-Also, learned a lot about an area I completely neglected so far - table and seat selections in relation to looseness/passivity/awareness/stacks of villains.

-Found out a statement that is incredibly true: 'The more you learn about poker, the more you realize you don't know'

-And polished some basics like what hands to play in position and against what villains etc.

So far watching vids/reading articles while playing 3-5 tables was a great experience for me. I don't really have to focus too much at NL10-NL50 to be a winning player, and I stopped having the feeling that my time is wasted when I don't win a single $$.

GL ya all

LOL September
  LemOn[5thF], Sep 26 2009

I still haven't quite figured out the whole Life/Work/Poker balance and I always find myself having my brain out at some point.

The days where my brain doesn't work and I just look down at myself and ask wtf am I doing keep coming back. This month it seriously happened only during one day, but the one day totally fucked up my entire month, right at the beginning :D

Also, my Pimpchair didn't arrive yet

What to do? Well nothing is changing really. I have 11 months to get to NL200. I feel like my progress has stalled massively, and I hardly learn by cruising through NL10 and NL25 apart from self discipline. I decided to take focus away from playing back to the basics and maths of poker, I started watching a vid or reading an article, while having 3-4 tables open to avoid boredom and apply the concepts straight away.

I expect that it will take until 2010 before I get back to the pre-job stage where I was beating NL50 at 5+bb/100 and was taking shots at NL100.

As for my life update, my job is still fun, but as time passes I find myself having my weekly plan fuller and fuller. I even got to the stage that I plan my 35 hour week and I get 60 hours of work that has to be done.
With this regime I find it hard to focus on the main reason why I am at the job - to learn, see the big picture and apply my University learning to the working environment.
Its not easy to finish a hard 9hr day where you made 6 different tasks for various people/reporting and then think about it and write it down to a diary. What I usually want to do is go home, get drunk/watch tv/spew some money in pokerz/do some sexy time.

What I want to introduce is to roughly breakdown and plan not only my time at the job, but also my free time as it is becoming very scarce, especially when happens something like today - I woke up at 1pm after 14 hours of sleep.

/end boring blog, Gl at the tables guys

Lucky Retard
  LemOn[5thF], Aug 29 2009

So I came back, still tilted and not paying max attention really and playing 6 tables instead of 4, but cards started coming and I am completely unstuck for today!

Hint: There is one hand where I confused my holecards with other table, guess which one

The thing is, as I set myself a rule that I instantly withdraw to 20BI once I start multitabling and go under my stop loss in the process, I took my BR down to $1k, but overall for the day I am breakeven (now at $1270)
I can't move to NL100 properly only because of the multitabling and spew issues unresolved, so here is what I am going to do:

I will keep the cash I took out because of the anti-spew rule in my Bank account, and if I manage to get to $2.4k without multitabling turbo tilts during at least consecutive 10k hands, I will instantly ship the $1k back to my Pokerstars Account, having 34BI NL100 Roll and a 14BI Shot at the limit.

If I will keep breaking the rule, then tough luck - I will take a shot at 24 BI only for 4BI, as there is no point in playing NL100 if I can't keep playing without turbotilts.
