NL5 Rake?!?
SolarM, Nov 27 2012
So the Rake for my last 10k hands at NL5 Zoom was 6,5BB/100. That's brutal. Am I right to say, that it's hard to win any money at all there?
What about higher stakes? Anyone can share how much the rake is for higher games?
Drunk like hell

First Week
SolarM, Nov 20 2012
So here are the results from my first week of poker.

4 tabling zoom is pretty much fun. Played like an hour each day and it seems I can't concentrate for much longer. Any hints on how to focus better? My attention is definately going down after 30 minutes. Is a winrate of 18BB/100 realistic over the long run at NL5? I usually don't think so, but maybe something like 8-10BB/100...
Really appreciate to have the possibility to talk about Poker here, thanks guys
Live Play Motivation
SolarM, Aug 03 2012
Hey LP,
First of all, I'm 22, have some jobs which give me like 600€/month and I am living on that money. Well and it has been my dream to live on playing live Poker since I know about Poker. So 3 days ago I took my 6000€ savings and went to a local Casino to play some 5/5 NL. I finished my first day with 100€ profit which really made me happy and motivated me to keep on going... So today I bought in for 300€ and doubled up pretty quickly to 600€. And then this hand happened :
I am utg and raise 20 with AAch, 5 people call, flop is KT9cc and I bet 80. Some guy who seems to be a reg shoves all in for 600 total, everyone folds and I make the call after tanking for 2 minutes. He shows T7cc and hits the flush.
Well... I Never played a 1200€ pot in my life and it fucked me pretty bad since I got 6000€ total and that is in fact ALL money I have. I rebought for 300€, made it to 400€ and then this hand happened :
Some guy raises to 10, four people call and I make it 70 as BB. Everyone folds, button calls and flop comes A98. Button is some guy that plays many pots and doesnt seem to care a lot about money, but definately has a clue of the game. My image is very tight and I think he knows that. I check and he bets 120, I quickly think that he got an ace, but on the other hand I thought he might also bet with lots of hands + I might be able to push him off like A5. So I shove for 400€ total and he calls while shrugging his shoulders and wins the pot with AT.

Monitor for 6 tabling
SolarM, May 23 2012
Hey guys,
1. I'd like to buy a monitor which is large enough to 6 table properly without overlapping tables.
Which one would you recommend? Below 200$ if possible.
2. Which pokertracking software would you recommend? I'd like to grind hard now with a perfect setup.
Thanks
Chris
Supernova Rakeback / Sunday Storm
SolarM, Feb 27 2012
Hey guys, played the Sunday Storm on Pokerstars yesterday and got really deep to about 200K starting at 5K and got killed by AT preflop all in while holding AA. Fuck it! Only received 80$...
I've learned a lot in the last few days, cause I've played lots of NL10 and feel really comfortable to beat this game. I've realized at last, that it's the big decisions that differenciate the good and the bad players... Not wheather to cbet or not. It's the big pots and the proper decisions. Right? :D
I just calculated the Rakeback for Supernova and Supernova Elite just for fun... Here are my results :
Supernova : 4000$ back for each 12987$ Rake they pay (30.8%) PLUS average 3114$ (2600+2800+3000+3200+3600+3800+4200 (the more they play, the more they gain, but I will just calculate the average) for each 18181$ Rake they pay (17.13%) = 47.93% Rakeback!
Supernova Elite : 4000$ back for each 9090$ Rake they pay (44%) PLUS average 11700$ (9200+9200+9200+19200+9200+9200+9200+19200)for each 45455$ Rake they pay (25.74%) = 69.74% Rakeback!
What the fuck, thats a lot. And I didn't even calculate the 20K Bonus when reaching Supernova Elite.
Since doing math is fun at 5AM I will calculate BronzeStar, SilverStar, GoldStar and PlatinumStar as well...
BronzeStar : 25$ back for each 455$ Rake they pay (5.5%) PLUS average 10$ for each 182$ Rake they pay (5.5%) = 11% Rakeback!
SilverStar : 50$ back for each 545$ Rake they pay (9.2%) PLUS average 50$ for each 909$ Rake they pay (5.5%) = 14.7% Rakeback!
GoldStar : 300$ back for each 2273$ Rake they pay (13.2%) PLUS average 50$ for each 909$ Rake they pay (5.5%) = 18.7% Rakeback!
PlatinumStar : 650$ back for each 3636$ Rake they pay (17.9%) PLUS average 50$ for each 909$ Rake they pay (5.5%) = 23.4% Rakeback!
Thanks for listening... Do you think those amounts are correct?
Restarting Poker
SolarM, Feb 15 2012
So I quit Poker 3 years ago and I am trying to restart now.
I won about 3k at NL25 in my active times and would like to get there again. So I deposited 100$ and started with 8 tables NL10 and it's a totally different gameplay than 4 years ago... There aren't as much weak people to pay me off and everyone seems to be tight waiting for the nuts. Played 8K hands now with pokertracker and I'm still at 100$. This is really pissing me off, cause I was a winning player at NL25... Anyway, can you tell me how Poker changed in the last few years? How can I adapt my game to it? I'm willing to learn from you guys.
Since NL seems to be much tougher than years ago I think about giving PL Omaha a shot, but I don't know anything about this game. I've seen that good Omaha players have winrates of about 20BB/100, while great NL players have like 4BB/100. My theory is that Omaha is way harder to play, because there are much more of mathematics to know --> More people who don't know about this and pay you off great. Is this true? If you master most of the Omaha stuff, can you win more money than in NLholdem?
Thanks for helping me and plz don't tell me that I need more buyins for playing NL10 :D
