WSOP Event 39 recap
I_run_godlike, Jun 21 2009
Hate to say this but it's just another "play good but run bad" day.
Nothing much happened during the lvl 1. Toward the end of level2, the very last hand:
50/100, utg limped, mp limped, co raised to 900 with 200 left, I picked up AKcc and reshoved all in. everyone folded and co calls with QThh and flopped Qx9x5h, turn 2nd heart, River Ah completing his flush. nh sir.
lvl3, 75/150, I had 3300ish left. utg(the QThh guy) limped, I looked down AKo and decided to just shove and have him gamble with me, folds to btn who instant all in w/ his last 1800 and utg folded. btn shows AQo and was on the way to the rail before the dealer brought the miracle Q on the river.
very last hand, folds to me in co with TJhh and had 1500 left, decided to shove and sb thinks and reshoves for 3500 and turned over A3cc, I liked my chance until the flop came A56 and sent me to the rail.
what can i do? oh well...
wsop event 28 recap.

Another $1500 donkfest.
I am in all confidence to say that I played the best tournament poker in my entire poker career in this event, tho the result went the opposite.
My stack went from 4500 to 1300 in the first orbit when my AK < QQ aipf; but that's not it! I made a sick come back just couple of hours later.
first I had 79hh on 88998 board and this fish bet/fold the river (which is weird cuz it wasn't much more for him to call) and my stack was back up to 2400.
Few hands later, I had AhAd on Kd5d6d board when the same fish c/r and called my 3bet shove w/ 8x8d and my AA held up.
Then I had AdQx on A3d6d board where I bet/3b jam on this idiot's "raise to see where he was at" bet and he mucked. That brought my stack to above 7k
Then the very next hand, I had AJo on J85r against a rando and the fish on my right where he c/c the flop cbet and left himself 4k in the pot of 8k and folded to my shove on the turn 6. This pot brought my stack to over 12k at 100/200 which is the chip leader on my table of passive donks and fish.
After exchanging some chips as a bank on the table, friggin variance decided to say hi to other players.
One major pots that I lost is: the fish limp (who's vpip is 80/5 ish), guy on my right (with 7k) who's been playing tight, raised to 700, I flat w/ AxQs on the co and btn flats, bb who has 2500 only also flats, fish was like..okay pot odds and he flats. So 3500 to the flop. Flop came AsKsTs (bang! top pair plus royal draw!), bb open shoves 1800, fish reshoves for 4k total and pfr folded and I snapped.
bb showed 56ss and fish showed KTcc. I got the nut flush on the turn but the effing river paired the K. The fish was jumping up and down and yelling and saying something like "i'm on my way to the final table" like he never wins an all in pot before. That hand brought my stack down to about 7k.
Then I proceed to lose few small pots and had 5.5k left which is still okay given the blinds were still 100/200 at the time.
few hands later, the guy on my right lost big chunk of his stack w/ his AK aipf against QQ and couldn't hit and he had 4bb left; so he started to shove like a maniac and brought his stack up to 1700ish before he doubles up through me on this hand.
Folds to him in the mp2 and he open ships again and I looked down ATo and decided to reship, everyone folded. He turned over A5o and I was v happy with my read but the flop J58 killed my mood and my stack completely.
Just not too long after that hand, blinds went up to 150/300 and i had just about 3800ish left. utg1 opens to 1100, folded to me in the sb w/ 88 and I decided to go with the hand and I jammed. utg1 moaned and tanked and finally called w/ KJo. Dealer gave him a QT9 flop to send me back to the bustoville again.
conclusion: very very soft field, tons of fish who have no clue what they are doing but the variance is just sick to my stomach. Played soooooo effing good but ran like the unluckiest guy in the world.
wsop event 13 update- barryG 2 to my right!
I_run_godlike, Jun 15 2009
I ended up busting with BarryG at lvl 5 when he shoved a fish's limp w/ ATo and I reshipped w/ AJo for 4kish at 100/200/25 and the fish snapped w/ AQdd.
Here are some remarkable hands that happened.
There was an old rock, literally only plays QQ+ AK directly to my left.
50/100
mp limped, I had about 8k and looked down AKo from sb and pumped it up to 500, the old rock min 3bet to 1.1k and mp folded. Back to me and I looked at his stack and saw he had 3k left so I decided to just shove and be happy with it. To my surprise, he folded, which is nice.
just 2 orbits later, I picked up AA from co and there were 3 ppl limped, I made it 800 (50/100 still) and the old nit instant 3bet to 2400 (now he had 4.3k behind), everyone folded and I looked at his stack the same way I did in the AK hand (cuz he had a water bottle right next to his chips) and announced all in again, obv with expectation of getting snapped by his QQ or KK or whatever he 3bets me with. The rock then tanked and tanked and tanked for literally almost 5 mins and then open mucked KK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's like the worst beat in my tournament poker life. I really don't know how he managed to 3bet/fold KK pre when he already put in 1/3 of his stack in and to a guy who 4b shoved on him 2 times in 3 orbits?!?!!?. I obv didn't show my hand to make him feel he made the right play; but seriously, how did he do that?
Another interesting hand was that I opened 99 at 50/100 from hj and both blinds called.
Flop came Q43r and it went checked around. Turn was a diamond 8 which put 2 diamonds on the board. small blind (i have no read on him cuz he just sat down but looks like a donk) led 600 into around 1k. bb folded and I called. River was a diamond 7 and he made a fairly weak bet around 1200. I decided to turn my made hand into bluff and was hoping he'd fold his weak Q. I raised to 3850 and he instant called and I obv thought I was dead. I turned over my 99 and he nodded his head saying...omg...well played sir! nice read! and then he turned over A7! omg, what did I get myself into? why are these ppl playing wsop events?!?!
Anyhow, just after my AA couldn't get paid off by KK, I started to go on downhill and lost a big pot aipf w/ AK vs QQ and didn't win the flip. Then there was the barryg hand that busted me.
Conclusion: just another standard tournament that I felt like I played pretty well but keep being on the wrong side of the variance.

come cheer for me.
never been this steaming and frustrated. $2500 6m
I_run_godlike, Jun 08 2009
So I just got knocked out of the 6max tournament in lvl 2. I have no regrets on all my plays, to be honest, I think I played all my hands in an optimal manner.
Table was really crazy, guy 2 to my right is opening at least 65% if not 80% of the hands preflop. Devil Fish is directly to my left who's playing like a spewtard as well. Seat 3 is terribad but not as spewy-tardish as seat 5 and seat 2 (devil fish). Seat 4 is a guy who lost his left palm and plays pretty aggro and somewhat spewy as well.
I have no clue why these players 3bet every hand like they are supposed to in a 6max tournament. As a nl400/600 6m cash grinder, I have seen my fair share of 3bet pots in the last 500k hands, but I swear to god that I've never seen so many 3bet pots in a 2 hr frame. These people have no clue what they are doing, they treat every utg/utg1/co/btn open as steal therefore they HAVE TO 3bet to protect their blind!
I hate to complain about how bad I run, I used to complain a lot but now I have improved as a professional player and my mentality to the game and the variance so I have cut down my whining a lot. However, since there are many people have piece of me, I think they have right to know what had happened in every tournament I was in.
Here we go.
Hand that I lost huge chunk of my stack:
50/100, eff. stack 5200.
btn (kid who opens 65% of his hands and have shown tendency of not liking to fold to 3bet and likes to float) opens to 225, folded to me in bb and I looked down AQo, I decided to 3bet to 700 for value. Btn called.
Flop (1450) Qh 9d 9s
I cbet 800 and btn floats
Turn (3050) 4s
I decided to let him blow him off his float and make my hand look like AK or JJ/TT so I checked.
He, on the other hand, didn't disappoint me by betting 1100 into 3050 pot, I c/c'd.
River (5250) 4d
I checked, spewtard tanked for a sec before shipping in the rest of his 2600ish chips and I snapped.
He turned over for J9o for the flopped trips and I was down to 1800 with my AQ on Q99 board in a 3bet pot. I have absolutely no regret with my line as I think this is definitely the most optimal line at the moment against a guy who doesn't like to fold.
Few hands later (after that kid busted Devil Fish with AA on T high board), he opened utg to 225 again, I looked down A9cc and decided to ship it in against his range. I got snapped by his KK and flopped KQc8c, I got there on the turn w/ 5c and doubled up my short stack to 3750. He was saying something like..omg....and I have no clue why he's complaining given the fact that he runs hotter than the sun already.
few hands later (3800 eff stack), utg (guy who lost his left palm) opened to 300, folded to me in sb w/ KJdd, i decided to flat and bb called.
Flop (900) Kc Tc Jc
I checked, bb checked, utg bets 1k and I crai and he made a crying call and flipped KTss, sweet, finally i can get back on track w/ another double up.
Not so much as turn brought 8c and river 9c for the flush on the board and we chopped the pot where I got my money in WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY good. like what? 92% equity?!
At that point, I already knew that this tournament is not gonna be a very easy/happy ride for me.
Just few hands later, I picked up KQo otb and everyone folded back to me. I made a min raise to 225 and bb (who obv has no clue what he's doing but 3bets because everyone's doing it) made a fairly large 3bet to 800. I had a read on him and know for fact that his bet size indicated a very weak hand that he didn't want a call. I made a committing 4bet to 1650 (left myself about 2200) and he jammed and I snapped.
BB turned over 47o and I was very happy w/ my read and call. Little did I know that the board ran out J76JA and my KQo couldn't hold up. End of the day, left the table with steam on my head, trying to figure out how the F those terribad idiots who have no clue how the game works and what they're doing can run so good.
Ive been doing pretty well in the cash game this past weekend and will come back and update more later tonight or tomorrow after I get back to LA.
A little teaser: I got my money in with AKo at Bellagio's 5/10 preflop against AA and got a runner runner flush for 70bb deep pot :-)
Stay tuned!

5/28-6/1 Bellagio/Rio 5/10 NL cash game recaps
I_run_godlike, Jun 03 2009
The cash game has been quite swingy for me as well. Lost 800 the first day at Rio's 2/5 6max, up about 2900 from 5/10 and then proceed to lose 2200 the night before I came back to LA.
I don't know if I remember all of the big pot or interesting hands but I'll try my best.
5/29 Rio's 2/5 6max.
Players were just incredibly horrible, just as any other live FR players who are loose/passive/weak. They use their "FR standard" to play the 6 max. An old guy sat directly to my left is a total non-believer, literally playing 90/5 style. After my 85o cracked his A4dd on 8s 5d 6h Jd Xs board where he flat my flop cbet and shoved on the turn, he went on tilt against me. So this hand happened just few orbits after the hand. I opened utg to 20 w/ JJ, he flat, btn flat and bb flat. 85 to the flop. Flop came T84r, I cbet 60 and he flats, turn a 6, I led 160 into 200 and he shoved for 200 more, I obv instant called. River T and he flipped KTo. wp sir.
5/30 Rio's 5/10 FR.
Right after I busted out from the 1k donkament and was waiting for my friend, decided to play some live cash to kill time. A new game just started so I picked my seat. on the 3rd hand, I got dealt AA in utg2. UTG1 opened to 30 (w/ 1k eff. stack), I 3bet to 105 and folded to sb (who's a donk/station with 1200 eff stack) cold called. pfr also flat. $325 to the flop. Flop came 66d9d and I have two red Aces. Sb led out 200 and pfr instant jammed for 1k, I snapped and sb folded. turn and river bricked off and pfr turned over 78dd and my AA incredibly dodged trillion outs and held up. pfr started to berate and said something like..you called that?!?! I was like..yea, ez call sir, snap and fist pump. He's like..do you call if I crai? I replied, even faster sir, I never fold there. He then went on tilt and I left the very next hand cuz my friend was here for lunch (First time ever that I hit and ran somebody)
5/31 Bellagio 5/10 FR
down 2k right off the bat (don't really want to talk about the hand that I stacked off 1500 with but I think it was okay) Anyway..I kept grinding and grinding and finally after 7 hours of sitting on the same table, I was up 100. One interesting hand was that a new guy who just sat down couple orbits ago opened to 40 and co and btn both called. (btn had eff. stack of 4k and I covered him) I flat in bb w/ J5cc. flop 67c9c...I decided to play this pot cautiously. It was checked to btn who bet 100 into 160 and i tanked and flat. pfr then announced raise to 350 (leaving him 650 left) and btn folded, ez decision for me then, I then announced all in and pfr called. turn 5 river J...I turned over my two pair and pfr said it's good and I shipped a decent size pot which brought my winning to about 1700 for the night.
2nd interesting hand I played was that utg opened to 45, 2 callers and btn (4k eff stack) called and I flat T8ss in bb. flop AsKs7 and was checked to btn who instant bet 200 into 225. I tanked for 30 secs before calling (didn't want to make it too obv that I was drawing), everyone folded. Turn 6c which gave me 3 extra outs. I checked and btn instant bet 300 into 625 (weird size...but he's a live donk so he probably doesn't know how bet sizing works). I tanked and called, river brought an offsuit T (damn, for 1 sec, I thought I got the miracle offsuit 9!) I checked again and btn instant bet 500, I tanked and folded. Spent 500 on a draw hoping I can ship his 4k over..sigh...
3rd hand I shipped 1200 w/ my AA and bb's AK on K44 board.
the last hand of the night which totally killed my mood was that I opened 45 utg1 w/ two black QQ and got 3 callers.
$180 to the flop and the board was Qh79h, I obv didn't really like the flop that much but still can't complain about the top set. Given how cordinated the board was, I led 150 into 180 and got one caller who just sat down few hands ago. After he called, I asked how many bills he was playing and he replied 6 (makes it 1500 to start with). Turn brought the ugliest card in the deck: 8h. I thought for a little bit and decided to go for a check/raise. So I checked and he jokingly asked me how much i had and i said I had him covered. he threw out his bills and I crai and got snap called and he turned A5hh for the nut flush. Needless to say, I never bink when I need to.
to be continued.
5/30 WSOP event 4, day 1A recap
I_run_godlike, May 31 2009
Nothing much to say about the tournament except for I was the chip leader at the table with 6375 in chips at the first break (started with 3k and 25/25), but proceed to lose 3 coin flips in a row after the break and everyone else but me was literally short stacking and forced me to flip with them.
Hand 1 (50/100)
UTG (a monkey) with about 4500 in chips opens to 250
UTG1, short stack shoved for 575
UTG2, another short stack over called for 450
Me (Mp1) looked down AKss, decided to reshove, then everyone including the pfr folded.
UTG1 had JJ, UTG2 had T6o...AKs...that's okay...i had pretty good equity in the pot...
obv didn't bink. oh well...at least it's not a significant big pot..
Hand 2 50/100
UTg folded to Mp3 (who was the major contributor to my big stack in lvl 2) opened to 250, he's been opening quite a few pots after the break.
folded to me in sb with JJ.
I looked at his stack and found him had only 2200 left, so I decided to try to get money in pre cuz JJ is obv ahead of his range.
I made it 750 and he shipped for the rest of his chips and flipped AKo...okay, another flip..
Flop came.. KQc4c...didn't improve...great, this really almost crippled me down to 3200 in chips..
Hand 3 (75/150)
guy who won the flip opened utg2 to 400, a new guy who just sat down 1 orbit ago..seems tight and had about 6500 in chips called, folded to me otb and looked down AQdd. I knew i couldn't fold this cuz there were too much in the pot already (400+400+75+150=1025), I only needed to win 1025/3200+1025= 24% of the time to make my shove profitable. So I shoved and pfr folded but the new guy tanked for a min and reluctantly called with TT...nice, another flip, one time plz?
Flop brought 459 and obv I couldn't bink when I needed to...out on the first event I played.
conclusion: I believe I played this tournament very well but just unfortunate to be on the wrong side of the variance. Looking forward to next week's event.
I can't wait for WSOP 2009
I_run_godlike, May 28 2009
This is the first time I blog about myself, I thought this would be a good idea to update my WSOP status to my investors and to keep myself motivated in many other ways.
I'm very thankful and grateful for those who purchased my action, I will do my best to play my A game and hopefully run like god for one time!
Having a downswing for the past 3 months certainly didn't help with my bankroll and confidence but I have readjusted my mentality and got a great mentor to refresh my mind. I'm physically, financially and mentally ready to go!
wish me luck guys.
