So I just got knocked out of the 6max tournament in lvl 2. I have no regrets on all my plays, to be honest, I think I played all my hands in an optimal manner.
Table was really crazy, guy 2 to my right is opening at least 65% if not 80% of the hands preflop. Devil Fish is directly to my left who's playing like a spewtard as well. Seat 3 is terribad but not as spewy-tardish as seat 5 and seat 2 (devil fish). Seat 4 is a guy who lost his left palm and plays pretty aggro and somewhat spewy as well.
I have no clue why these players 3bet every hand like they are supposed to in a 6max tournament. As a nl400/600 6m cash grinder, I have seen my fair share of 3bet pots in the last 500k hands, but I swear to god that I've never seen so many 3bet pots in a 2 hr frame. These people have no clue what they are doing, they treat every utg/utg1/co/btn open as steal therefore they HAVE TO 3bet to protect their blind!
I hate to complain about how bad I run, I used to complain a lot but now I have improved as a professional player and my mentality to the game and the variance so I have cut down my whining a lot. However, since there are many people have piece of me, I think they have right to know what had happened in every tournament I was in.
Here we go.
Hand that I lost huge chunk of my stack:
50/100, eff. stack 5200.
btn (kid who opens 65% of his hands and have shown tendency of not liking to fold to 3bet and likes to float) opens to 225, folded to me in bb and I looked down AQo, I decided to 3bet to 700 for value. Btn called.
Flop (1450) Qh 9d 9s
I cbet 800 and btn floats
Turn (3050) 4s
I decided to let him blow him off his float and make my hand look like AK or JJ/TT so I checked.
He, on the other hand, didn't disappoint me by betting 1100 into 3050 pot, I c/c'd.
River (5250) 4d
I checked, spewtard tanked for a sec before shipping in the rest of his 2600ish chips and I snapped.
He turned over for J9o for the flopped trips and I was down to 1800 with my AQ on Q99 board in a 3bet pot. I have absolutely no regret with my line as I think this is definitely the most optimal line at the moment against a guy who doesn't like to fold.
Few hands later (after that kid busted Devil Fish with AA on T high board), he opened utg to 225 again, I looked down A9cc and decided to ship it in against his range. I got snapped by his KK and flopped KQc8c, I got there on the turn w/ 5c and doubled up my short stack to 3750. He was saying something like..omg....and I have no clue why he's complaining given the fact that he runs hotter than the sun already.
few hands later (3800 eff stack), utg (guy who lost his left palm) opened to 300, folded to me in sb w/ KJdd, i decided to flat and bb called.
Flop (900) Kc Tc Jc
I checked, bb checked, utg bets 1k and I crai and he made a crying call and flipped KTss, sweet, finally i can get back on track w/ another double up.
Not so much as turn brought 8c and river 9c for the flush on the board and we chopped the pot where I got my money in WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY good. like what? 92% equity?!
At that point, I already knew that this tournament is not gonna be a very easy/happy ride for me.
Just few hands later, I picked up KQo otb and everyone folded back to me. I made a min raise to 225 and bb (who obv has no clue what he's doing but 3bets because everyone's doing it) made a fairly large 3bet to 800. I had a read on him and know for fact that his bet size indicated a very weak hand that he didn't want a call. I made a committing 4bet to 1650 (left myself about 2200) and he jammed and I snapped.
BB turned over 47o and I was very happy w/ my read and call. Little did I know that the board ran out J76JA and my KQo couldn't hold up. End of the day, left the table with steam on my head, trying to figure out how the F those terribad idiots who have no clue how the game works and what they're doing can run so good.
Ive been doing pretty well in the cash game this past weekend and will come back and update more later tonight or tomorrow after I get back to LA.
A little teaser: I got my money in with AKo at Bellagio's 5/10 preflop against AA and got a runner runner flush for 70bb deep pot :-)
Stay tuned!
