The bleh of november.
This month has been a real bitch. Go away november, we're not friends anymore. If it weren't for thanksgiving i'd phase you completely out of my yearly routine.
WeeOctober
thewh00sel, Oct 31 2008
So, October was a great month. I played a lot of live poker, including 5 live tournaments. The first tournament was a preliminary event at WPT Festa al lago at Bellagio. I busted out pretty quickly in that. I made it kind of deep in a satellite to the $15k but didnt manage to grab a seat to that either. Then a couple of days later I head to Bellagio in the morning for a cash session and pick up a Cardplayer magazine while I'm waiting and see an ad in there that says Caesars Palace Classic October 16-29. There was a $1,500 event going on that day in about an hour so I just decide to head over to Caesars since Bellagio was kind of dead anyways. Turns out to be a fantastic decision since I won the tournament for 80k + a free seat to the 10k event of that series.
I made it to day 2 of the 10k along with several of LP's finest only to bust in like 80th (27 paid). Khan ended up shipping the whole thing and thanks to me being Swapper of the year I made 50k off of his win. Seriously this is the 2nd 10k event that i've swapped any % in and the guy i swap with ends up winning the tournament both times? Come to me if you want to win a tournament just swap with me. So before October my biggest winning month was 45k, but thanks to the run good-a-thon that is Oct 08 i ship the 140k month. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

Chip Leader Ceasar's $1500 event
thewh00sel, Oct 19 2008
ive got 810k blinds 3k/6k with 15 left. 1st is 85k. Also, Michael Phelps is there and still in. Here's a picture to prove im fa realz. Apparently he's been playing poker for 4 years and he's actually pretty solid/knows a ton of high stakes regs.

In a nutshell
thewh00sel, Sep 28 2008
September Sucked. I managed to have a win for $11k and a 4th place in 100r for $16k this month...and i still lost money. It was just a very disgusting WCOOP, and other tournaments mixed in. I want to throw up for the amount of times that I spewed chips on final table bubbles (i think i FT bubbled 4 tourneys, one of which i was chipleader on the bubble) and for the times i spewed in wcoop events. It was never anything huge, but little things that added up. Very frustrating.
Ive been looking over my game and I don't see any big mistakes, just little things that add a lot of variance that I need to work on.
Anyways, to sum up:
-$600 after being up almost 20k at one point. ugh, just a very swingy month. Here's looking forward to a better october and rest of the year!
WCOOP wrap-up
thewh00sel, Sep 22 2008
I am pretty sure I didn't cash in a single event. I bought in direct to the main event so the wcoop probably cost me like 15k, but luckily i made about 20k before i started playing WCOOP events which pretty much gives me a break even month at +5k. still a week left and I look forward to donating that last 5k of profit to turn this into a completely break even month, my first since May.
Atlantic City Trip Report and more
thewh00sel, Sep 15 2008
So I went to AC for Borgata's Poker Open, and I had a decent time. Got to hang out with an old friend and meet up with a friend from online who i've known a while. The tournaments were not very successful.
Recap: The $2,500 tourney we got 15k to start with and hour blinds. The levels accelerated slowly then they doubled from 100-200 to 200-400 with antes which sucked. They need to add 150-300 or something. Anyways, I made it to 400-800 and had a 20k stack when this hand happened. Im sb with QJdd, button retard opens for 2200, i call bb folds. Now to give some history, the button is awful. He has poker tattoos and says poker is his life...but he's awful. was consistently making it 4k to go at 200-400 with a 9k stack and was calling a preflop raise and open jamming into the raiser on QT8 boards with 66 or AK3 board with 99. It was very confusing.
So anyways, i call in the sb and the flop comes down KJ3 rainbow. I check to him and he fires out 7k which is standard for him. I was going to check shove but i figured he's bad enough to try and bluff the turn when i call so i call. turn is a brick, he shoves just like i expected and i called with QJ and he flipped KJ for top 2 GG main event.
In the 500 I just got blinded down and shoved/lost.
Cash games were fairly brutal I got it all in with AA twice in reraised pots and ran into sets on the lowest boards. Also got it in with KK in a reraised pots when i was reraised by 55 and he flopped quads.
Well actually the KK hand was kind of funny bc he RR pre and i just called in pos. flop 955 he checked i bet he called, he checked J turn i bet 500 he called, river 9 i still have 1k behind and he fires out 500 like an idiot, im obviously calling 1k if im calling 500. So he cost himself 500 there.
I managed to grind back that 4500 in losses at 5/10 in my next session when I got a couple of my big hands paid off and hit trips vs two pair on K high flop with AK.
So total tally for the trip is down 3k from tourney buy ins, but that was no problem as yesterday I managed to bink 4th in the sunday night 100r for 16k or so.

Nice to come home to a good score like that.
ttyl blog and hopefully i can bink one of these wcoop's soon.
Hard WCOOP beginnings and Atlantic City
thewh00sel, Sep 08 2008
Mmm, so I'm down about 4,500 in buy ins for WCOOP and other tourneys. Played pretty poorly on Sunday unfortunately and ran poorly as well. I wasn't really interested in any of the events going on today so I took the day off from MTTs and went with the wife and dog to Red Rock Canyon. That was pretty cool, nice views etc.
When I got home I played a short session at 3/6 and was happy to run well and play well. Although most of my profit came from a hand that for some reason i dont have the HH for, but I overflushed two people and scooped a 2100$ pot. So that was good.
+2k today makes my month +$6,500 and I'm headed to Atlantic City tomorrow to play in Borgata's $2,500 buy in WPT event on wednesday. I'm pretty stoked about that, but, barring any good results, it looks like my month will be about break even after WCOOP is all said and done. That's fine with me though because I'm happy to be freerolling most of the WCOOP thanks to a tourney score early in the month.
Also, one of the first ballerish things i've spewed on that makes me feel F4ZI-esque (not really) is a limo from philadelphia's airport to the Borgata, so that's a fun milestone. Anyways, Wish me luck in A.C. and GL to all who might be donkamenting around this week =]
Oops I jinxed it
thewh00sel, Sep 02 2008
So i guess it's bad to bragpost about something before it's over. I was up about 50k online in august and 8k live and took a shot at the 10/20 live game and lost a big pot with TT vs KT on a KT4 board all in on flop etc etc river king. then i played a bit online and dropped about 4500 at the cash games giving me a grand total of a 13k loss right at the end of the month. Oh well, make that the 2nd best month ever, + 45k for august.
I'll try to avoid month recaps in the future until the month has ended =]
August
