Shame....shame....shame! Not bad, not terrible... but actually horrible. It's hard to reflect on sessions of live play since you have no way to track hands, however I think I have found a few leaks in my play. Ignore the PLO stuff since that is literally just like 3 sessions and I have no idea what im doing.

#1 - Playing WAY too loose against the wrong players. I've been playing pretty robotically and not adjusting for who's at the table. I'll try to iso with A4o with reckless abandon and then own myself trying to bluff a reg off some connected board. This might work against passive fish who only came to play with 1 bullet but the guy with a fanny pack full of chips isnt calling to try and bink top pair on the river.

#2 - Bad game selection. There are plenty of regs in my cardroom but I'm not sure how many of them are actual pros. The problem is they are willing to at least try and play like one. I've been getting 3bet in & out of position a lot lately and when I'm raising all PP's, SC's and any 2 face cards I just turn into a huge preflop station donating $80 per call and then check/folding when I miss. I honestly need to just get off of these tables asap and stick to the easiest one's I can find.

#3 - Mild tilt. Not from bad beats but just opponents surprising me. Back to the aforementioned regs, several times they've shown me 1 card that was basically the nuts after I fold I guess to earn credit or 'be nice' to me, I dunno. Thing is they'll show a single 5 on a 55J flop. Great, you made trips, but you 3bet me with a five in your hand? Whats that all about, A5s? 55? 56s? It was jarring, so now that I recognize I'm being 3bet light (which I suspected) I dont really know what to do. I guess the appropriate strat is to either 4bet light or tighten up and trap? Either way I have not made any adjustments and just take my lashings and move on the next hand.

The tilt part is more like 'entitlement tilt'. I dont mind being exploited for playing in an exploitative manner, if my opponents recognize I just call 3bets OOP and check/fold then they are playing perfectly. But when I keep missing and they keep smashing the board with their random 3bets I start to get annoyed, not at them but just the fact that I'm completely whiffing flop after flop. Again, I imagine the best option for me here is to just find another table without any 3betting, and at a minimum just play tight and hope for the best.

I think getting accustomed to some GTO preflop charts solves all 3 problems. I forgot where I got mine but Curbstomp2 would know. I know when I briefly came back to poker my ranges were off. I was playing way too loose. I mean if the games are fishy go ahead and play all those hands but full ring nlhe with no ante should be played tighter than any pp, scs, and any 2 face cards. But, yeah, game selection would help too.

I locked up my first win tonight boys, no hit n' run with a fair sample size of 5 hours and a righteous cashout. My first table was immediately undesirable with a player making frequent standard raise sizes and some 3betting here and there, mixed in with a couple of shortstackers I promptly got on the list to 'any table'. Luckily I ended up on a dream table within 30 minutes. Bunch of middle aged folks just gabbing and almost no raising whatsoever. It helped that I also ran pure and picked up JJ+ at least once per hour and held.

1 pro eventually came over however I had position on him, and true to my dumbass self I attempted to barrel him off with A4d on a KT77Qdd runnout and got looked up by J9. I immediately snapped out of it recognizing this is what I always do and didnt lose any more big pots from that point on. I was also proud of myself for catching a couple of other spots vs fish where I almost pulled the trigger but recognized the runnout may have helped them so I just checked it back and quietly mucked to their 2nd pair holdings. These are spots where I was previously full potting rivers for $300+, although in hindsight it may have still worked.

And I dont know if this had anything to do with it but I actually got buzzed on 3 cocktails to take the edge off. I used to always play slightly drunk just to keep the vibe going. My big run in December was played completely dry so I know I dont need alcohol to play but it sure felt good tonight, will have to consider whether or not I want to keep doing this.

bye now

yeah alcohol is much better than anything else to sustain energy for long sessions of gambling. alcohol has a half life of like 5 hours whereas sugar's is 30 minutes or an hour. that's why kids crash and diabetics too i guess. so anything else will make you like a maniac jackass player for the first hour if you even last any longer compared to alcohol keeping your metabolism up for even a 12 hour session

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen

lol @ considering playing while drinking alcohol...
dont think that ever helped anyone in the long run during "work"

Let me google this for ya:

Short-term effects of alcohol

feelings of relaxation or drowsiness
a sense of euphoria or giddiness
changes in mood
lowered inhibitions
impulsive behavior
slowed or slurred speech
changes in hearing, vision, and perception
loss of coordination
____ trouble focusing or making decisions____
loss of consciousness or gaps in memory (often called a blackout)

that's very logical thank you

you could also list the sucessfull ppl who are heroin addicts

might aswell make the assumption that heroin+alcohol =winner combo

Just imagine how much better Hunter S Thompson could have been WITHOUT alcohol. All that talent squandered

I honestly don't get your point.

Is that we should drink and take drugs regularly if you feel like it's good for you? sometimes even at work?

if like 5 or 6 fish in the game are drinking I would definitely be drinking. Shame the nits who aren't drinking or are nursing a 3.2% beer. It's so bad for their action and so good for yours when the fish get on your side.

Coming home from the bars and 10-tabling not so much. It could still be +ev though.
