Moneymaker, Matusow and Eskandani among the Poker Hall of Fame nominees!

We know the names of ten people who will compete this year for having their names hanging on the Poker Hall of Fame. The group contains as always both players as well as people from the industry.

WSOP 2018 slowly focuses on the Main Event, that recently has started. We will however concentrate for a bit on other events than WSOP – the nominees for this year's Poker Hall of Fame. The winners will be announced July 13th.

This year two more players will join the ranks. They will have to meet the following criteria:
– compete with opponents who are also recognized in the poker world
– be at least 40 years old
– play high stakes regularly
– be respected by other players
– play consistently over the years
– for those who are not players themselves it is crucial to have changed the image of poker and the industry over the previous years.

In 2017 Poker Hall of Fame added Phil Ivey and David Ulliott to the list. These are the candidates for this year, 2018 are:
Chris Bjorin
This is a Swedish, 70-year-old player who resides in London. Live events brought him 5.7 million and two bracelets from WSOP. He won the tournaments back in 1997 ($1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha) and 2000 ($3,000 No-Limit Hold’em). Took second place four times, too. WSOP 2018 so far gave him 5 cashes and altogether he has got 92 of them, including 7 from Main Event (fifth best result in the history).

David Chiu
Born in China, went to the USA as a student when he was 18. Started working as a dealer and then player. Won 5 WSOP bracelets. Last time in 2013 when he played against Michael Mizrachi and Scott Seiver. Cashed at WSOP 74 times. In 2008 he won WPT title when he defeated Gus Hansen in World Championship to grab 3.3 million. In all live events he registered to he has won more than 8 million.

Mori Eskandani
Not all of you probably know the name but you have certainly seen the effects of his work. 62-year-old American is the head of Poker PROductions, that made among others “Poker After Dark”,”, “High Stakes Poker” and National Heads-Up Championship. Eskandani's company also streams the Main Event at WSOP. In the past he often played high stakes.

Bruno Fitoussi
One of the French poker legends. Fitoussi is 59 and back in 1995 he brought Texas Hold’em to France when he started playing in Aviation Club de France. Fitoussi won 2.8 million dollars in live events. In 2001 he won his first World Heads Up Poker Championship eliminating Amarillo Slim in HU. First cash came back in 1991 and in 2007 he came second in $50,000 Poker Players Championship. Back then he won 1.27 million bucks. A few days ago he took second place in $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better. Apart from paying poker he also commented games in France.

John Hennigan
He is 48 years old and has 8 million dollars in the account from live events. He mostly plays in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. He also won five WSOP titles. Only at this year's festival he collected over 5.5 million dollars. Back in 2014 he won $50,000 Poker Players Championship, and got 1.51 million for the performance. WSOP 2018 meant another title for him as well as second position in PPC. So far he has cashed nine times here.

Mike Matusow
Can you believe he is already 50? 9.4 million dollars is not bad, though. He worked as a dealer before he went pro. Back in 2001 and 2005 he played the final tables of WSOP Main Event. Altogether he also took part in 15 other tables like that at WSOP. Matusow has four World Series bracelets, and he even won the National Heads-Up Championship.

Chris Moneymaker
Man without whom there would be no poker boomu. When he was 27 in 2003 he won the Main Event he got to via a satellite for only $86. Back then he won 2.5 million. Interestingly this was his first paid place in a poker tournament. In the whole career he cashed over 80 times and collected 3.7 million.

David Oppenheim
This 45-year-old player loves cash games and comes from Los Angeles. Live events gave him as much as 1.87 million dollars. In 2010 he came third in $50,000 Poker Players Championship. He is believed to be one of the toughest mixed game players in the world and has been playing card for 25 years.

Matt Savage
The one and only man responsible largely for the success of World Poker Tour. He is 49 years old and leads the best tournaments all over the world. Savage is also one of the co-founders of Tournament Directors Association. This organisation tries to unify all the tournaments in the world as far as rules and regulations go. Currently he is employed as tournament director in Bay 101 Casino in San Jose and Commerce Casino in Los Angeles. One of the directors at WPT, too.

Huckleberry Seed
A very tall guy who has been extremely successful over the years. 49-year-old graduate of California Institute of Technology. Live events brought him 7.6 million dollars and he has 4 WSOP titles to his name. In 1996 he was best in the Main Event. Final tabled the $50,000 Poker Players Championship twice. Seed also won the National Heads-Up Championship. In 2010 he was triumphant in the Player Championship at WSOP. His poker career goes back to 1990. 22 times in his life he has had a year with more than $100,000 in cashes.
