Poker career of a book author and psychologist Maria Konnikova has just got a nice push. It was announced yesterday that she became a new member of Team PokerStars.

12 months ago Maria Konnikova was working on a book. She wanted to define how important luck is in life. She started from poker, which seems a natural choice.

She knew nothing about cards and our beloved game so she asked Erik Seidel, to train her. Then she spent a year playing poker tournaments to learn more about luck.

Today Konnikova has over $200,000 in tournament cashes. Writing the book will have to wait a bit though, as now her story is often described by poker media. PokerStars decided to go one step further and made her an ambassador.

– I am very excited to join PokerStars. I have worked hard to learn poker, but never though this would happen. It's an incredible experience. I wonder what future with PokerStars will bring – says Maria.

Konnikova has cashed many times in Macau, Monte Carlo and Las Vegas. A fw months ago she had her first big triumph when she proved better than 290 players and won PCA National Championship. She received $84,600, as well as a ticket to Players NL Holdem Championship, High Roller, that will take place in January next year.

Maria's book titled “The Biggest Bluff” will be published in a year to give the author more time to rite her experiences down.

Maria has never imagined that she will be playing poker professionally and now she admits the game has given her freedom and inspired to work harder.

– This simple card game motivates me to practice and develop to be better me than ever before. Today when I sit at a table I am a completely different person than a year ago – jI am a different person and a different player. The way I think about life has changed with the way I see poker now.

lol I hate how they mention how much people have cashed in their career without mentionning the total amount of buy ins, for all we know she could be stuck

Im not sure what to do tomorrow when I see her, should I shake her hand?? -Floofy
