 German player Stefan Schillhabel took down the €10k NL Hold'em Single Re-Entry Event here at EPT13 Prague. The 29-year-old from Dusseldorf cut a four-way deal, eventually scooping €248,046 including extra €25k left for the champion. Schillhabel beat a 133-player field, comprised of 108 unique players.
Schillhabel first came to attention last year, making the final table at EPT11 Malta. He banked €260,500 for fourth place back in March 2015. March 2016 was even better for Schillhabel, who travelled to the US west coast and triumphed in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event, taking a huge $1,298,000 first prize. Today's victory pushed Schillhabel's live earnings over $2.2 million.
It was a long heads-up battle between Schillhabel and Sergio Aido, whose resistance was finally shut when he ran with trips into Schillhabel's full house. Aido took €177,965 for his efforts. The 28-year-old Spaniard, who lives in London, won around $1m in the Triton Super High Roller Series last month. He finished third in the Suncity Cup for about $150k and followed it with another third place finish in the Main Event, worth nearly $850k, the biggest prize of his career. Aido's live tournament resumé includes the UKIPT3 London and WPTN Barcelona titles.
Third place finisher Charlie Carrel received €159,548. He has earned a six-figure prize in each of the last three months. Carrel was third in the €10k Single-Day Event at EPT13 Malta for €170,754 and added another five cashes at Amsterdam's Master Classics of Poker in Amsterdam, including a €144,615 third-place prize in the €10k High Roller.
EPT13 Malta champion Aliaksei Boika was knocked out in fourth place, earning €218,944.
There were 19 players coming back for the final day with the top 17 finishers sharing pieces of a €2,900,100 prize pool.
