This is without a doubt one of the most entertaining and interesting TwoPlusTwo threads recently: an anonymous Americas Cardroom poker player, that hides under “Themadbotter” on forum, posted earlier this week that he has been using an AI bot on the site for the past six months, making over $30,000 in the process.
He commented anonymously that he decided to stop, as the bot required constant attention to remain profitable. After forum users outed the anonymous poster, he said he was just joking, but doubts remain, especially in this situation. You can check entire thread under this link.
Was he joking or got scared of possible consequences? It's hard to say, but reading his posts you can see that he has a solid understanding of how such programs works, and how the blotting community operates as well.
Another user however claimed he realized who the person is and said he reported him to ACRs security team, which officially stated on their Twitter they are launching an investigation.
Soon after that Themadbotter tried to retract his first statement, but he was unable to delete posting history:
" I see from the FAQ that [my inability to delete previous posts] is likely due to the way this particular sub was set up. Well, I’m sorry to disappoint you all, I was just bored and wanted to troll. This is why I could not post any proof. I hope that admin can delete this thread so as to not cause undue panic in the players or to unnecessarily slander WPN’s reputation. ACR should ask to have this thread deleted since there is no reason why my unfortunate misstep, with no proof or evidence to support any of the allegations in this thread, should unnecessarily cause them financial harm or bring negative publicity."
So far we don't know the outcome - however, we know that ACR was able to find out his username and they also informed they are applying various fixes to their software to prevent that kind of situations, so the chance that the story was true is quite high.

From a player standpoint, I can see getting rid of the bots.
From ACR's standpoint, I can see just acting like they got rid of the bots but actually keeping them on because if there's enough that if they dropped them, player traffic would drop which the perceived drop could further drop traffic.
I don't know, but it's just a thought. |

what if they create a botting poker site. i think that would be fun. you create/script a poker bot and let it play online and see how it does. yo tweak it, develop it, etc.. kinda like your own little pet online to play poker. |

Unless donking is the new meta, I label anyone with a donk range a bot. I imagine it's some guy in china with a ring of bots thinking that it's plus EV to donk bluff a 7bb pot. |
