Doug Polk and Jason Mercier exchange blows on Twitter

Doug ‘WCGRider’ Polk, who is one of the most renowned high stakes online players at the moment and Jason Mercier, member of Team PokerStars, one of the best all-round tournament poker players of all time, exchanged some direct blows recently through Twitter. It all started after Doug Polk has allegedly publicized his personal view that Jason Mercier is nothing more than a “bad regular”.

Polk, who recently took down a Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) event for six-figures while streaming online, has been focusing lately on his recently launched UpswingPoker brand on Twitch – and it was through the channel that Mercier supposedly has heard of his opinion, which reached Mercier. He then explained on Twitter:
"I think you are a nice guy. I just think you ran massively over ev in your career and don't have respect for your poker game"

Let's say that Jason Mercier (currently ranked 11th at all-time tournament money list with nearly $16.5 million won) disagrees with the opinion of Polk and decided to openly comment on his thoughts.

He responded with "how starved r u for attention? R u hurt that we stopped talking on AIM back in 2008? You're the talentless 1".

Finally Daniel Negreanu joined the conversation taking Merciers site: "Doug, I don't know if they give out a "tool of the year" award yet but you are in contention!"

I doubt many people would play WCGRider hu and Mercier is def not one of them. Doesn't make him less of a douche though. Compared to WCG's skill atm 90% of top NLHE players are " bad regs" lol..

Doug didn't even start anything here. Mercier got all butt hurt after someone on twitter told him Doug had him tagged as a "bad reg" on his Twitch stream. He could've laughed it off or something but instead chose to challenge Doug to play him in ridiculous games that Doug has never even played before. Then he refused HUNL & HU 8 game when Doug offered

He does seem like a cool and chill guy. But he also seems like he has some serious flaws that he may be trying to hide. Most guys like him are not nearly as successful, so he should be very thankful for what he has accomplished.

what really started it was doug offering to the public on twitter to buy the opposite of Mericier's action at 95% and then down to 90-92% (basically trying to crossbook fade mercier) in the 20k SCOOP HU figuring he was a big dog vs that tough field. Mercier then pulled out and let Trueteller have his spot (who then ironically bounced doug in the 3rd round). The tags were less of an issue and got brought up in the ensuing twitter battles.

That said Doug can offer whatever he wants and never directly shit talked mercier. Doug is obv egotistical as fuck and kind of douchey however... as is mercier. so the the clash was standard. They each offered to play e/o in their specialties... mercier wanted to cross ring 8game and live tourneys, doug HU big bet or even hu 8game. So i kinda think doug "won" but whatever
