I don't play Omaha, but raising AJ99 from the big blind can't be +EV. Especially when you're going to be out of position vs the entire table except one.

it's a hand that flops very well 5-ways, might as well build a big pot. I've only been playing and studying plo for about a week, Bbt both checking and raising here should be ok.

My biggest problem right now with plo is the variance, losing several buy-ins within minutes. Instead of sucking it up and telling myself that I'm a winning player in the long run and that omaha is a high variance game, I become a cry-baby about it. "omg how many flop in a row can u miss with 4 connected card, and how many 60/40 and 40/60 can you lose bla-bla".
