FTP -> PS $300 by OpWestAcct, November 25

I am interested in getting back into Pokerstars as I have been using UltimateBet for some time now but they just updated their software and I am disgusted with the new interface. However, I can only use instant e-checks and I do not want to wait 10 days. I can instantly deposit funds on FTP though so can anyone trade $300 on Pokerstars for $300 on FTP

Jan Axel Blomberg by PplusAD, November 25

Well didnt find a good Headline for this entry
some of u may know him , some may not.

Also its irreleveant to the blogpost itself.

November month summary so far

started with 200$ at Nl10 on stars after loosing ~ 4K + on Ipoker at Nl200/Nl100 and Nl50 in september + october
went pretty well in the beginning building it up to 540$ in just 5 days playing NL10 and NL25 when i hit 300$.
Then suddenly i hit a DS again and it was kinda same situation then on Ipoker .... started to lose like -20Bb/100 on Nl25 lol
didnt move down and tilted a bit...

156$ left at about 1 week or so ago.

then Nl10 again -> build it up to 380$
-> Nl25 the last 3 days winning solid and i built it up to 567 $

incredible i ended 6 of my last 7 sessions in the green
havent run like this in a looong time

Month overall still pretty dissapointing ^^
Played 21,5K hands at Nl10 and Nl25 ( each about 50%) + 367$ ...

My original goal was to be close to NL100 again by the end of the month having like 1,6K profits in November.
compared to last 2 months i loved November though <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Also learned a lession :
if u run bad at a limit u were a former winning player constantly losing when getting it in over more than 20K hands
-> change sites + reduce tables to like 3
Trying to grind it through when running ultimate bad for longer than u think it should be possible -> bad idea

First day at new limt by EXCELED, November 25

Today I started playing the next limit up for me which is $.5/$1 6 Max LHE. Didnt have a hell of a lot of success. Played around 1.5k hands so far today and Im only up 2 BB. I think Im running pretty bad though so its alright.

Some people just play there hands terrible man. A couple of times I thought I was ahead based on the way the action was going but then some guy shows me AK at the river to beat my AJ that I raise on the turn. I had KJ run into KQ a few times AJ into AQ, AK. All pretty standard stuff so Im not really phased at all. Here are a few hands from the session.

NOTE - LHE not NLHE

HAND 1

http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=575603

I think I played the hand alright. If I were to play it again I would probably 3bet preflop. He played it pretty bad Id say. I just got unlucky there and he luckboxed me.

HAND 2

http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=575606

This was a shitty one where he had KQ over my KJ. I tried to show my strength on the turn with a raise and he ended up just calling me down. He probably should have 3 bet unless for some reason he put me on AK or two pair which might be possible from the BB I suppose. Pretty standard again.

HAND 3

http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=575607

Again I got out kicked here this time my AJ ran into his AK. I really hate AJ in the SB. Its really hard to play from there. I actually really odnt like AJ that much at all period but what can you do? I raised the turn here to get him to fold any pocket pair or the flush draw. He for sure should have 3 bet this hand after I raised him on the turn. So yea just running a little shitty here.

HAND 4

http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=575610

Pocket aces FTW. Good thing I had the Ad or I would be shitting bricks on this river. Still would have bet/called down here no matter what if I didnt have the Ad though.

HAND 5

http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=575612

I cant say that I always run bad though. Love hitting sets then Quads on turn lol. Got max value out of this one.

A lot of pretty standard shit so Im not discouraged or anything. Going to take a break for a bit because the tables are pretty shitty right now. Probably play a bit later tonight when the fish come out. Sucks that I got hockey though because we are getting bag skated tonight so Im going to be pretty tired when I get home and might not have the urge to put in some hands.

Anyways hope everyones having a great day.

EXCELED

UPDATE

I knew I was running pretty bad today. Just figured I would play through it and eventually variance would come back in my favour. I managedt o get unstuck and rebound makin about 50BB but I am only up about 15BB. I think Im done for the day. StarWars is on right now and then Im going to to hockey. After that I think Ill go smoke a J with my buddy and pack er in for the night

NL50 shot by edzwoo, November 25

Stnd 6ptbb/100 session

Differences of this session to typical NL25 session:

  • People squeeze a lot
  • There are some really stupidly small stack sizes
  • 20bb shortstacks love to crai flop when there is a bet and a call (annoying)
  • Regs still suck
  • Quads are more common than sets

Notable hands of session:

$32.40 stack displaying SilverStar status probably means scared money amiright? His range probably had all sorts of 7x in there.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=575444

Good bluff out. He snap checked that river.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=575459

I love suited aces vs regs; they never suspect the flush.

THANKS FOR THE FREE CARD LOL

ez turn
http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=575467

I loved my value bet, but I hated the fact that he had a flush on the turn.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=575436

Sick value line. Actually I just forgot to cbet and improvised lol.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=575450

Wrong read
http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=575442

Lol four quads in one session:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=575466

Interesting hand:
25/5 over a small sample, but rockman says this guy is pretty weak tight.

br and investing by Uptown, November 25

*note: this is mainly me talking to myself so that I can come back to this when I have more concrete thoughts. It's mainly going to be rambling.

----------------

For the past couple of days I've been wondering the proper balance between maintaining a bank roll, and diverting portions of it into investments. In theory, BR money above your personal minimum should be invested because money inside your poker account is essentially 'dead money' that is losing value every second. So for a NL100 player who likes to be rolled at 25bi, it would mean sending anything over $2500 into your portfolio. But obviously things aren't ideal...

What things affect this "ideal" scenario?

- The need for insurance against hard downswings
- Relative illiquidity of many investment options
- Deposit limits

Sudden downswings mean that oftentimes you will need to bring back your money from your portfolio back into your account to be properly rolled. But turning your stocks/bonds/etc into cash on short notice is not an optimal plan for your investment goals. In addition, depending on the size of your br and the limits you play, I believe you won't necessarily be able to stick enough cash back in asap.

Then on top of this, is the fact that many players are looking to "build" their br so they can move up in stakes, rather than continuously grind at their current state.

I sense that if I went through the math of common transaction fees, rates of interest, deposit fees, etc there would be a way to compose some form of structure that is better than simply having a massive pile of cash sitting in one's poker account. The effects of this kind of 'optimization' should grow exponentially as one's br becomes larger.

--------

It's completely irrelevant for me atm as I am a lowly nl2 player who recently migrated from TL.net, but it just got me thinking.

Finally got there. by EXCELED, November 24

I know I already did a blog today but this got me excited. Ive been grinding my nuts off at $.25/$.50 LHE for this whole month. I started with $250 and told myself that I would not move up until I had 500 BB for the next level. I finally go there today and it feels pretty good.

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/mbs03/500.jpg

Tomorrow Im going to give the $.5/$1 game a shot. Its pretty close to the same game as the $.25/$.5 but a little bit more aggressive so I wont have to change my style to much, maybe just showdown a little bit more and I should be good to go. Hopefully we dont have to drop down and its just smooth sailing. If I lose 100 BB at anytime Ive decided I will drop down and stay discipline no matter how much that might suck.

Later folks,

Great weekend bad monday by Cooperstown, November 24

Well as it says won 12 buyins over the weekend and then Monday happened. I ran into 5 sets with A's or K's ran K's into A's 2 times the list goes on. Needless to day -4 buyins fun stuff, decided to play a couple tourneys which was going well till I get ass raped by a 2 outer. Would have put in 2nd in chips, oh well sometimes you just don't run well. On the upside I'm still confident I can easily beat 50nl and I'm still comfortably rolled for it.

Up to 7K hands now by SpeedyJack, November 24

Pretty terrible 2K hands for the most part, seemed like every big pocket pair I got would get zero action. When I hit big it seemed everything I was up against was a cooler (most notably my full boat (pocket queens) running into quads). The last 500 hands weren't terrible, but I still wasn't getting much.

Graph looked something like this:

FTP Bonuses Questions by Sicks Macks, November 24

Three questions:

1. I heard that buying CR/Stox memberships from the store doesn't cut into your MGR (for rakeback), is this true? If so are there any other items like this?

2. I should be getting a year-end Ironman Bonus, if I clear that in January it should cut deeply into MGR. If so, should I then spend all my FTP points possible that month? Does a negative MGR carry over, or do I reset at 0 in february?

3. Also what do you guys spend your Ironman medals on... I can hit gold some months, but Iron is out of my reach (lol traditional employment). Any suggestions?

Thanks for any insight.

My Poker Career by Chibuzo21, November 24

Aite I have never done a blog before but recently I have been thinking about taking poker seriously so I guess this will be a good start. I started playing poker when I was 15. My friends first introduced it to me at a basketball camp in the Summer of 2005. Being new to the game I pretty much sucked and lost every time we played during the camp. We kept playing all that summer and I got better every time we played until I eventually was a regular whenever of these small stakes tournaments and cash games.

I was so engrossed by this game I wanted to take it to the next level so I asked my mom to let me use her credit card to play online. She, being the mother she is, wouldn't because she said I was too young and gambling wasn't good for me. So I stared playing play money on PokerStars just to get more experience. After awhile I realized that this was not going to get me anywhere so I had my friend transfer me ten dollars. I started out playing $2nl and $1 SNGs. I had a lot of success at these levels and quickly moved up to higher games. This went on for about 2-3 months until I probably had accumulated around $500-600. That’s when I had my first breakthrough. I decided to play in the $3 re-buy on Stars (obviously not good bankroll management but I was young at the time). I ended up taking second in the tournament for $3.2K. At this time I was still 15 and being this young and naive led to my downfall.

To make a long story short I went broke within a pretty short amount of time by not following basic bankroll management rules. I was devastated to say the least. I didn't play poker for about six months online or live. I got back into playing poker in the summer of 06' trying to undo what I had done in the previous year. My friend gave me another $10 dollar loan and I went back to grinding. This time I put in way more hours and tried to learn everything I could to make myself better. I played a mixture of small stakes cash games and SNGs until I reached $25nl. This is when I started playing cash games more as a main source of my poker income.

At this time I was 16 years old and had a bankroll of $625 dollars. I played $25nl for a couple of months and was beating it easily. I took a shot at $50nl with a $1000 roll but had to drop back down to $25nl after losing several buy-ins. I grinded $25nl for several more months and returned to $50nl with a bankroll of $1500. This time I was making pretty good progress and beating the game fairly easy and decided to move up stakes at 3K. I made fair good progress at $100nl at first but later had to drop down again. The emotional rollercoaster of losing and winning money started to get to me at this point not to mention having to keep up with schoolwork, after school sports, and a job. I took a little break from poker until the summer my junior year of high school when I began to start grinding $50nl again. I started back playing and running really good and eventually took another shot at $100nl with $4K. It was probably the beginning of the year 2008 when I started playing $100nl.

I also started playing tournaments again at this time trying to better myself at them and found much luck. I made about $5.5K playing in these tournaments which boosted my bankroll to about $12K. I took a shot at $200nl and ran well at first but after a 15 buy-in downswing I moved back down to $100nl. I didn’t play much in the next couple of months due to starting college and also because I was kind of satisfied with my earnings and this pretty much brings us to where I am now. I have cashed out several times for some expenses I had so now I have a $5K bankroll grinding $50/$100nl.

Aite I know that was a lot of information and many of you won’t read, but take from it what you want. Atleast now you know I’m not some retard that makes all-in calls with K high.

Cant get it healthy. by EXCELED, November 24

I started working where I work right now in September. I work at a Loblaws Distrubution centre and I am what they call a "picker" A picker drives around a "Jigger" which is pretty much an electric pump truck that you drive around on. We get orders through our headset and we drive around picking the items and putting them on skids, the wrapping them and shipping them away. Its not really a great job and the hours are just shit. They have such a bad turnover at this place and I really can see why.

You could call in sick once every wee and they wouldnt give a shit as long as you showed up for some of your shifts. New guys are hired and trained every week and I bet not even half of them end up working there for more than a month. The part that makes this job shitty is the fact that you are timed on everything you do. You target goal is to pick at 95% for the week which is not that easy. Ive been there for 2 months and just last wee I fianlly started to hit that number. If you pick over 95% then you get a bonus on your paycheck every week. To get over 100% you have to bust your ass all day everyday. Its not like you get a shit load of extra paying by doing this so right now Im fine with hitting the standard they put out for you.

Lifting things all day can get pretty strainning on the back. My back started to get a bit sore after working there for 2 weeks. I stretch before every shift but that only does so much. What makes this worse is about a month ago I hurt my side in hockey which was not fun. I thought things were getting better but on the weekend I managed to fuck my side up again the same way. I was pretty happy because my back/side was starting to feel really good and I was planning on getting back to the gym this week but my back is just to sore and lifting weights + work definitly will not help it get better. I think Im going to start going back to the chiropractor again and get a massage or too. Hopefully this helps a bit.

The good thing is this job is only a temporary thing for me since Im moving to London soon. Im only going to be working there for about one more month. This reminds me, gotta hand in my two weeks notice soon. Its actually more like 3 wees because Im going Snowboarding at Mt. Tremblant in December for a week. Im pretty excited for this trip because the biggest place to snowboard around here is Blue Mountain which is alright but Ive head Tremblant is way bigger. I just got all new equipment so Im pumped that I get to try it out soon. Its been snowing alot here too lately so hopefully they are getting a lot of snow out at Tremblant so the conditions are good when I end up going there.

My hockey team played 2 games this weekend and we went 1-1 when we should have gone 2-0. The first game we played was vs Wellsley. There coach is our old coach so its a pretty big rivalry. We ended up beating them 6-2 but the end of the game gott pretty ugly and there was a few fights. What bugs me is Im never on the ice when any of this shit goes down. Havent gotten in a single tilt this year The league just isnt the same as it used to be. Full of a bunch of younger guys now who think they are going somewhere in hockey but havent gotten there reality check yet. Its hilarious because they think they are so good but there is no extrordinary talent in our league anymore. The second game we played was for sure one we should have won. We were up 3-1 and ended up blowing it and losing 5-4. We even got a penalty shot in the final minute to send it into OT but buddy missed so we lost Shouldnt have even came down to that moment though. Apparently now we are going to get bag skated at practice on Tuesday which fucking sucks because I hate skating all practice.

Big weekend coming up. We play the team who is in 1st (were in 2nd) in a home and home series. We also have the ROOKIE party Saturday night This year we decided to get our rookies to wear diapers only at the party and tape 40ozs of shit beer to there hands so they have to drink them all before they can take them off and go to the bathroom or they can go in there diaper haha. Shold be a lot of fun drunk times. Ill put up pictures if I remember to take some lol.

I didnt play much poker at all this weekend because I was so busy with hockey/work. I dont have to work again until Friday so I should be able to get in some serious hours too. I only need to make 35 more BB until its time to move up in limits. I should be able to grind that out tonight, if not for sure tomorrow. Today Im aready up 65BB so I dont really feel like pressing my luck to much tonight unless there are some huge fish sitting and the tables are exceptionally good. Heres the graph for today:

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/mbs03/Nov24.jpg

I recently put my stats up on 2+2 looking to get some feed back. They basically said that right now my stats are good for the limit I am playing and I wont need to make much of an adjustment when I move up. The only thing they said I have to improve on was something that I kinda knew on my own. They said I have to increase my WTSD% a bit, raise a few more hands in late position and defend my BB a bit less. All easily fixable imo.

A few hours ago I watched the most recent episode of ENTOURAGE. Just when you thought Vince and crew hit rock bottom things managed to turn themselves around. Love this show and cant wait to see whats going to happen next. The season has to be over soon though doesnt it? They are already 12 episodes in and they just put Vince in a new movie? Maybe they are going to do make the movie this season and then priemier it in the next one. Sorta like last season. Actually... is has HBO even confirmed a 6th season yet? I really hope they do. If anyone knows the answer to this let me know.

I started up the 2nd season of DEXTER too. I really like this show and at the end of every episode I always want to start watching the next episode asap. The shitty thing is that the site I watch it on has had a pretty laggy feed lately so hopefully they fix this soon so I can start watching again.

Not sure what I am going to get up to tonight. Might go for some beers at Boston Pizza and watch the Monday nighter. Maybe just smoke a joint and chill out because tomorrow I have to head down to London to give my lasts months rent to the Land lord. Hopefully we can get into the place sooner then Januaray so I can start painting the place.

Anways... hope alls good with everyone.

First time at a casino by barbieman, November 24

I visited a casino for the first time yesterday, I played 10-handed with SEK20/20 blinds, which is $2.50.
The minimum buy-in was 500 and the maximum was 2000, the rake was 5% and i think the maximum from a single pot was 100sek.

The players were soooo bad, even if i raised 10bb preflop i still got 2-3 callers. All your pp and sc got priced in no matter what. I played for 9h and had a 1h break. During that time I only picked up 6 pp, two of them was AA tho. Got paid off by a 600 stack once. Won one big hand during the night, an uninteresting hand. 36 on the button, limped pot with 6 players. flopped bottom two and rivered a full house, pot sized all-in and got a caller on a 369-8-6 board. I won the hand and a 5,5k pot. He was such a station, he could seriously have had 9T.

Unfortunately I was more or less card dead the whole night and hardly caught anything, when I had top pair I ran into a set three times, folded on turn or river and they showed me what they had.

Lost two big pots, the first one happened after two hours. I had 56ss on the cut off with 150bb and a guy from MP raised to 300. He only raised JJ+ and AQ+. JJ+ to 300 and AQ+ to 200 and the times that he raised to 300 he had always gone all the way. He had me covered so i called, huge station who limped from EP also calls.
pot is around 1000SEK, flop comes 648ss. Middle pair and an inside straight flush draw. OR cbets 700, I re-raise him 2200 and he instashoved and I call with my remaining 500. I was a 3:2 favourite but unfortunately I didn't hit any of my outs and his AA held and i lost a 6500SEK pot.

The other big pot I lost was after I had won the all-in with 36. This pot is vs. the same guy as I lost the first hand against and a 1,8k stack.
I have 76dd and 250bb on SB, 4-5 limpers and that guy raises 300 from the cut off, he has about 400bb so I call. EP limper with a 1,8k stack raises to 800 [guess what he has], "that guy" calls and I'm priced in obviously. The pot is about 2500SEK and flop comes 58T, I check my OESD, EP pushes with his remaining 1080. Guy calls and I of course call. Pot is now 5,7k. turn 7 check/check river 8 and check/check. I had to show first because I'm first to act, gay rules. EP shows AA and Guy shows JJ and calls me an idiot, I stared into his eyes and gave him a big smile. Thanks to some morons I still only ended the day down 10BB, the trip itself probably cost me about 1k but that's okay I guess. After all I made over 3k the day before when i played against some even bigger fishes,< first time playing live.

Most annoying thing at the casino were probably the players that thought they were the shit and had no idea wtf they were doing, it was so annoying to listen to them analyzing hands. That and the assholes berating players that they just had beaten. Win a 4k pot from somebody and then tell them that they suck, are you a fucking retard?

Might go there again in a month or so, I'll try not to be card dead that time.
