Quick Hotkey Questions [Pokerstars]by AutumnSolace, April 03
So my touchpad on my laptop is pretty much shot.
Was wondering if Pokerstars has any hotkeys or like, any way to set it so I can use my keyboard to call/raise/fold? If not is there an Autohotkey script?
Thanks in advance.
(I'm going to buy a USB mouse later, like Saturday, but I need to get in my daily poker fix.)
Kid Cudi is the illest and realest nigga outta Cleveland atm, after me of course.
While were on the topic of real g's out of c-town, apparently this dude that owes me a decent amount of money is chip the rippers old roommate. So, I may end up having to teach chip's old boy a lesson. What lesson you may ask? Not to fuck around when it comes to the game. I gave him fair warning before I contracted him. Am I being reasonable? Should I give a fuck he supposedly knows chip? I feel nolan will have the most sound advice, being a G himself.

NL5 is so much fun. Lots of fishes, and of course the few decent guys who usually go to 300bb like me -thats where the High Stakes Poker Style fun begins
I decided I will move to NL10 much later and only for a very short time to ease the transition to 100bb when I get the NL25 roll (I have been long rolled for NL10). I of course keep playing SH, fullring was just a wrong game for my impatient nature.
lol found a fun article with some details about the mtg Obama had with the heads of the banks at the white house a week or so ago. Some stuff in here made me smile:
“My administration,” the president added, “is the only thing between you and the pitchforks.”
There were signs from the outset that this was a business event, not a social gathering. At each place around the table sat a single glass of water. No ice. For those who finished their glass, no refills were offered. There was no group photograph taken of the CEOs with the president, which typically happens at ceremonial White House gatherings but not at serious strategy sessions.
“The only way they could have sent a more Spartan message is if they had served bread along with the water,” says a person who attended the meeting. “The signal from Obama’s body language and demeanor was, ‘I’m the president, and you’re not.’”
According to the accounts of sources inside the room, President Obama told the CEOs exactly what he expects from them, and pushed back forcefully when they attempted to defend Wall Street’s legendarily high-paying ways.
This hand was vs a 90/75 megatard so ship ship shipppit riiite?

In spite of this Im still up 3.5 buyins in like 1.5 hour session. Friday afternoons are the shit.
So I'm heading down to the Borgata tonight for a friend's birthday and I'll be there tomorrow too for some pokers. If anyone wants to meet up down there or something PM me here. Though tonight I may be too drunk to notice.
hope this keeps up, still getting a lot of bad breaks but mindset is so strong right now after relieving myself of that damn cashier habit of mine (thanks to that nifty stoploss script) i feel soooo rejuvinated and ready to grind grind grind and pwn all 50nl regs, making some solid plays, bluffs and calldowns and everything seems to be working fine. redline still needs work but its kinda hard to be consistently having a upward redline in FR without running good since ur up against 9 nits all the time who will get hands no matter what. so far after installing that script and playing in a lighter happier mood this is my graph:
So a friend was asking me if I was headed to the WSOP this summer, I had to tell him I couldn't go because I can't afford it. Which is true. He asked, well didn't you make like >20k last month? Yeah but my problems are like way worse. So he said "well you should just sell your car, duh," and I thought that seemed obvious, although it's actually gotten to the point that the value of the car has dropped so much that even if I were to sell it (which I have been actively trying to do) I would only get a couple grand out of it (after paying back what I still owe on it). A couple grand is no where near what I need to fix my situation.
I guess the point of this post is to finally make it clear exactly how poor of a choice it was to buy this car and how important it is not to make capricious financial decisions. Particularly as a reminder to myself to make sure I don't repeat my own mistakes, plus I'm sure there's something to learn here for anybody young just coming into a decent amount of money.
November 2007 I was 5 months out of college and had just recently turned pro playing 2/4 w/ about 40k bankroll. During the first 2 weeks of December, I logged about +15k at 2/4 and 3/6 then had a huge score at 3/6 over the course of 3 1 hour sessions I came up another 10k.
When I was first coming up I didn't really cash out much at all, I really only had the goal to just make it as high as I could and desired to be one of the best. I didn't actually even think about cashing out money nor did I spend much on anything. Though at some point, somebody had gotten it into my head that I should reward myself and buy myself something. So I did a lot of thinking as to what it was I actually wanted.
I really couldn't think of anything except the fact that when I was really young I always looked at dudes driving these lambo's, ferraris, porsche's, and I had always dreamed of doing that myself. The way I looked at it was, if the car is 45k and I put down 20, I'm making ~10k a month as a conservative estimate--hell, I probably could pay off the remaining 25k in 5 months easy.
This was the way that I looked at it. The way it is flawed is that I assumed I couldn't lose in poker, I also assumed that the hot streak I was on was standard and would continue in the same trend. These are assumptions I'll never ever make again. I didn't have any money saved in the bank and didn't save any money to pay taxes despite my Dad's warnings. Ugh, I just feel dumber and dumber as I look back on this.
So the last few days of December, the downswing I was due for hit, I went and played 5/10 and dropped 18 buy ins in one session, obviously nice stop loss I used there. I then continued to downswing through February and lost maybe another 15k.
So now I'm in a grip of debt living with my parents trying to save money to go back to leading a normal life. It's really awful living here but I don't even want to leave until I've taken care of my debts.
I always thought I was making the right choices for my life, I went to university, got a 4 year degree (the only one of my high school friends who actually has gotten one), I was making good money, had a long-term girlfriend, started going to grad school to get an MBA... At some point between finishing undergrad and buying this car everything just fell apart. GF left since I chose to play poker before spending time with her. I dropped out of grad school, made a couple super degen moves (like dropping 18k in one session, and buying 45k car), and ensuingly built up a ton of debt.
LOL so, what things am I gonna do differently this time around? I'm going to ensure I have enough money to pay for 6 months worth of living expenses ahead of time. I'm going to pay off all debts before leaving my parents house, and I'm going to continue working 50 hours a week to ensure it happens. I'm going to stay vigilant in keeping my game sharp and not ignore the obvious need to continue to improve as I thought last time around that I was so good that I didn't need to improve anymore. I'm going to save a percentage of all earnings on a monthly basis, and I'm not going to take on any more financial responsibilities other than the necessities like rent.
I think I can follow this plan, hopefully it works and I can get back on track, because life sucks when I have to rely on others, though I am thankful I have my parents to fall back on during a time like this.
I was going to post the entire 5 days at once, but I'm in chronic laziness / no-time mode so I'm going to post it one day at a time for a while.
Currently have 3 days done iirc.
Hopefully it's at least somewhat enjoyable to read haha.

b]The picture-deficient delayed Vegas blog![/b] Warning! WALL OF TEXT INCOMING
So basically on a whim, I decided to join Night in Vegas for 5 days - both to just hang out and to play a lil' live poker. I departed from SFO on the morning of the 11th, and returned on the 15th (wed-sun).
Short synopsis - Craziness.
Day 1 - Wednesday, March 11th
Day 1 started off rather ominously, as United graciously delayed the flight, then boarded us, then delayed again, then cancelled. The flight was supposed to depart at 8:40am, but most of the passengers were moved to the 12:40 flight (2 flights later). Fortunately I still had premier status on United (since I tend to have to fly a lot), I managed to find myself on the 10:40 flight, yay.
So I arrive @ LAS (the code for the vegas airport) a little past noon, and take a cab to Night's place. I knew the name of his timeshare but the cabby wasn't sure where the hell it was, so I called Night about 4 times to get him to give me directions haha. Anyways I eventually get to his place to be greeted by Night's mom and grandma, who were truly very awesome and fun people.
Night was hung over and sleep deprived for the escapades of the previous evening, and it took him a while to get himself up and ready for us to move on out. I asked him how much $ I should bring, to which he replied, "Bring your whole roll".
I obliged.
In any case we headed out, grabbing a light lunch along the way. We were walking up towards the middle of the strip, when it occurred to me to send a text msg to Myth (with whom I had talked to briefly via PM's on LP.net the week before). Turned out he had been cooler busto'ed out of that day's tourney, and would be @ the Wynn. Well, we were headed to the Wynn anyways, so we told him we'd text him when we were nearby.
By the way walking up and down the strip takes a surprisingly long time! Not to mention the fact that you're constantly hassled by Hispanic dudes handing you strip club / night club / phone sex cards.
Anyways, we get the the Wynn and meet Myth @ the back of the poker room. At this point I only remembered that his name started with a "C", and Night knew that everyone called him Corwin. I for some reason was (incorrectly) convinced that "Corwin" had to be a last name. IDK, I guess I suck at names =/. So we meet up, introduce ourselves, and exchange some pleasantries. One thing leads to another and we all agree to play @ the 1/3 game @ Wynn.
Now, at this point I'm a little weary. (A) I've never played live, ever (B) for certain reasons, I'm underrolled in my live BR (C) the highest I've played is nl100, so I'm a little bit out of my comfort zone (D) FFS I'm playing with a legitimate mid/high stakes player X_X.
Anyways we sit down at a new table. After a few orbits, it is exceedingly clear to me that there are literally no fish at the table. From the dealer's left, it went (1) some 20'something guy with a Rhino cap who was fucking around but knew the game, (2) a HOT - back me up on this Night - Euro blonde who again knew what she was doing, (3) A bald dude who reminded my of Moby who seemed to be an acquiaintance of the girl, (4) I forget, (5) Myth, (6) Night, (7) Me, (8) nit, (9) nit. I'm thinking to myself, "damn, why am I sitting here as my frist live game, underrolled and scared money? lol". Early on in the session Night's chatting to me in a lowered voice that this is not by any means a standard game lol. A rude awakening for sure.
I'll spare you the dulleries of the long session, but in the end we were there for about 10 hours, from 3pm to 1am. Shit, it seriously felt like it was 2 hours or something. Some highlights. Myth was pounding down double vodka redbulls all night, telling us epic Elky et al. stories, was playing some ridiculous loose aggro game, flopped a boat with 27o lol. Night was often fucking with Myth, reraising him in position. I was playing super uber nit style, due to my multiple levels of uncomfortable-ness that I described earlier. Peachy dropped by to say hey sometime in the middle, and Frinkx joined us later and added to the laggotry. It was pretty hilarious seeing the expressions on the random guys @ the tables through the night when Frinkx laid out bricks of 100's on the table, or when Myth threw out some Flags from his bag. At one point Frinkx was betting / raising by having a stack of $3 chips about a foot and a half tall and determining his bet by hitting the top and seeing how many chips fell down. Spending a good deal of time with Night, Myth, and Frinkx, I could tell that even w/o poker or anything else, they were solid quality guys - good humored and a lil' bit crazy . I ended up +240 or so, after donating $450 or so to Myth on a terrible play where I had Aces and he had 2p. Sooooo baaaaad X_X.
Hilarities that I caused from my live-poker noobiness: I think I stringbet at least twice, and also at one point declared by bet size as "half pot" ROFL. I think I acted out of turn several times, would forget to tip the dealer (which I would correct like 2 hands later), etcetc. We had a good laugh over my retardation, incl myself, so in the end all was good. It was an entertaining and fulfilling ten hours, and was certinaly a completely new experience for me and my sheltered mind (lol). I started out incredibly nervous and not talking much and at times noticibly shaking, but by the end I was at least pretty comfortable with where I was at and what I was doing. B/c my BR couldn't handle variance I ended up nut peddling plyaing something retarded like 12/8, but well hopefully next time I can play my standard game X_X.
LOL HALF POT!
At 1am, famished and tired and our judgement obviously suffering, Night and I left the room and headed back home. We ended up going to sleep around 3am or so. I was exhausted and weary, wondering if I could handle this again the next day...
5/10 blinds ..... 2000 starting stacks ... no blind increase
I got bored after 20 minutes no action .... trading 120chip pots back and forth >-<
then shoved every hand and villian foldet 56 times before he called with AA
after that he called with 99 and i was gone
LOL average match length on this must be ~ 1h for 1 single HU sng
So I got to the apartment today. I moved my little bit of stuff in and am going to finish putting it away tomorrow, gotta figure out wtf a grocery store is 'n clean up a little bit before I put stuff where it goes.
Played a 9hr session at the Wynn. Had a couple of pretty entertaining hands. In one of 'em, this super drunk guy "put me on the flush draw" when I 3bet shoved on him on 62Tss. My 45s totally whiffed and his J5o took the pot.
..... uh most of my flush draws beat you anyways, dude.
I won about a buyin though, which is fine. I'm going to take 2 seconds and slap together a spreadsheet to record my sessions on so that I can see what my hourly, total winnings, etc ends up being. I am pretty sure my hourly at 1/3 live is less than my hourly 4-6 tabling nl100 but whatever. Its easier to play more hours live because you fight boredom a lot more than you fight mental fatigue 'n all.
Also then I can post a weekly or monthly graph MUAHAHAHAHHA I MUST HAVE MY GRAPHS.
decided to give myself room for losing 3 buyins and i lost my 3 buyins. I got raped so hard by this guy that bet 1/2 pot with nothing and full pot with the nuts. Regardless of the fact that I knew what he had at all times it didnt matter because he wins @ life apparently and worships the cake chef gods or something no idea. I wish i could flop straights and trips as often as that dude, life would be way ez. The worst part was that he would have some comment like "yawn" or "donk" after anytime i did anything iadf;aof fuck that nerd. From what i seen the game looks nittier if that's possible than nl100 and didnt really look any harder but was obv just one session and maybe i got good regs (there aren't fish on cake after nl20 only regs albeit no good regs)
he took like 1k off of me while i won vs everyone else, ridiculous. Guess I'll win 600 and try again
I'm running so bad, I'm running like shit
I think I should throw in the towel and quit
With 2 outs on the river, the fish always hit
And I always get stacked though I play like a nit
No matter the cards, no matter the stacks
My asshole gets violated and stretched to the max
Being dealt aces makes me cry like a sop
I know the villain will hit his set on the flop
Flopping a set makes my eyes burn
I know a set over set will come on the turn
Turning a flush makes my spider sense quiver
I know the board will pair on the river
When faced with a shove, my tears it arouses
I know that it's time to lower my trousers
When faced with a raise, oh how it rankles
I know that it's time to grab my ankles
I thought poker was easy and the money was free
But now the only one getting poked is me.
