No Sleep, no problem
  tilted fish, Mar 20 2007

As I am typing this I am entering the 38th hour of no sleep. I woke up around 10 am on sunday and I have been awake since. havent done this for awhile, last time was when I went to europe for a visit.
As you can tell from my last post I was in deep shit for school work, I have got most of it done, reports , labs all done, just a 30min talk then im really set until finals which shouldnt be as bad.
I have done all of the work while doing other things, including playing poker, and I finally started working on a new song after putting bucnh of ideas down...
Basically its been very productive this past week and including the last 2 sleepless days.... and I am wondering if I should do this more often... i mean sleep less.
Today around 10-11am I was almost passing out in during my lecture but since then I have been able to function normally and still be productive.
I feel like I can be up for alteast 12 more hours, but im calling it a day.

havent played all that much poker actually despite all the extra hours, but played some during weekend and monday mornign? cant remeber...I just know that i have been running ok, couple of small suckouts here and there but no complains at all, and I have played a very decent game... I always have a hand or two during my sessions that I kindda fuck up but its all good as long as this red line is moving up.

The Quest to be Antonius
  Daut, Mar 20 2007

So after I busto'ed out of the shooting star, im walking to the front of the casino when i bump into patrik antonius. He's standing there, dressed in a nice button up shirt with his muscles bulging out of it and looking how pretty much every guy poker player wants to look.

I stood there a few seconds scowling at him in jealousy. I then decided that I'm going to become patrick antonius junior.

I am going to start working out every day, eating healthier, dressing nicer, and playing my best at all times. Oh yeah, and ill probably shave my head.

By the time of the WPT championship next month, you wont be able to tell us apart. Not that you can now.

WPT celeb invitational.....JENNIE FINCH!!!
  Daut, Mar 19 2007

So last weekend I went to the celebrity invitational. It was a lot of fun, i got to meet/play with a bunch of celebs. Tourney was shitty structure, really fast, started with 50bb, blinds went up every 30 minutes and i just lost every all in i had. oh well, who cares, i got to play with mekhi phifer, timothy busfield and the creator of the simpsons, and got to talk to a bunch of other people.

cash games went shitty, 3rd hand at the table took a 12k 4 outer on the turn at 20/40, didnt bring enough money to play 20/40 after that so i had to grind the terrible weak tight 10/20 games and made a little more than half of it back.

Anyway, CA was fun, got to hang out with lyric, mango, and jonny cosmo, and met some other cool people out there. ok, the rest of the trip is meaningless besides the plane ride back.

So, I get on the plane on monday morning to fly home. Im really exhausted cause I've been up for like 25 hours at this point (didnt go to bed that night). As I'm walking to my seat I see that I'm the luckiest man alive and have the hottest girl on the plane next to me. Man do I run good sometimes.

so i sit down, say hi and dont really say much more to start. She looks really familiar to me, but I just cant place who it is. A couple minutes later she asks if I could get out so she could go to the bathroom. so I move out of the way and she stands up and i see that shes 6'1. then all of a sudden it dawned on me, HOLY SHIT ITS JENNIE FINCH.

for those of you that dont follow sports, jennie finch is like this phenom softball player who was voted the hottest female athlete a few years running back in like 2003 and 2004.

http://espn.go.com/page2/s/hottest/female/finals.html

in this poll she demolished anna kournikova as the hottest female athlete.

her softball achievments (what a sicko):

Led Arizona to 2001 NCAA softball championship with 32-0 record as a pitcher, two-time national player of the year, three-time All-American. Finished career with a record of 199-16 and also hit 50 home runs.

Anyway I havent heard anything about her in the last couple of years. It turns out shes married and has a kid, which really shocked me, shes only 26. The kid is 9 months old and his name is Ace. Hes going to be pretty much the best pitcher ever, seeing as how both parents are awesome pitchers (dad is on the diamondbacks).

So we got to talking. Shes going to be on a fantasy baseball show coming up in the next few months. Fantasy baseball was like my life for 8 years so i told her everything i knew about it. Then we started talking about what i did and poker came up.

pretty sad. i thought i was in but i blew it.

oh yeah, awesome news. so im getting into backing some really good mtt players in live tournaments with my friend victor (nazgul18 on stars, owns liquidpoker), and last night my boy bodogari won the 300 in AC for 63k weeeee. Ari is the man, hes already cashed in 3 events, only played in 8 for me, hes so sick. We're also going to be backing mig.com and hopefully a few others that im not sure about yet.

ill be at bay 101 in san jose playing in the 2k and 10k events out there next week. hopefully i book another big win.

one last little note. taylor showed me this link about the PPA. check out the video on pocketfives.

Poker League Update
  iop, Mar 19 2007

So, I played the first round of the poker league. The blind structure was really nice. 10k chips, 25/50 - 25 minutes. After every 25 minutes you got 3 minutes to talk with your team. Things started out great and I had almost 20k going into the second brake. Some well timed bluffs, and overall solid play. I tried to bluff a guy with his Q high flush. Then something happened that had never happened before. I didn't get any cards, nothing. For about 2.5 hours I didnt get a decent hand. So the blinds started to eat off of my stack. I found QJ off and moved allin, I managed to tripple up with a K high straight. I still only had about half of what the average stack had, so not much to do.. After about 30 mins, I found 99 and moved allin, only to get a call by AK. I was out 22'nd out of 60. Our team was really unlucky, out captain had found AA, and moved in preflop facing QQ and KK. Flop came Q high - turn AND river Kings. It was alot of fun to playing 5-6 hours of poker.

I was sort of hungover and I didn't manage to shave, I'm the guy with the blue sweater.

Poker Weekend
  iop, Mar 15 2007

So this weekend will be a weekend with lots and lots of poker. On friday we will have our traditional afterwork with beer and poker in our office. More than half the company plays poker, so we usually play a mini-tournament with 30 people or so. I've played in it twice, getting 3rd and 2nd place. Afterwards people like to play cashgames too.

On saturday I will be competing in an offline poker league in Sweden called "lagpokerligan". That should be a lot of fun too. I will also try to play online the whole weekend. I am going to cashout out my whole roll too after this weekend, so lets hope for a good poker weekend. We are in the lead in the Martins Poker League. We beat De Knjiff and Thuritz team last week. Today we're playing another team called "Skåne" - Omaha time. I still haven't made my debut yet, but I will probably play next thursday!

On a sidenote, I am going to have to start playing omaha, so if anybody has some simple guidelines I would be more than thankful. I'll play the $1 sng's just to get the hang of it.

Sometimes I wish I didnt have to sleep... or day was 48hrs or things were slower or i was faster

university sucks, days go so fast... I know my projects are piling up but I still do all other random things...
I come to this point where I have shitload of work now, and I dont know where to start, so instead I just go for a run and come back with such a nice high feeling(running in cold weather is amazing), but the work is still there.

Why am I writing this blog if I have no time... just to avoid getting started on my work.
you know what im talking about, you have been there.

anyways, I dont seem to have enough time for poker, or when I have time I am tired and I dont really want to play tired.
but things are good in few hands that I play.
Going to new zealand soon so I need to make some cashouts but I want to move to 100nl soon. I have tried it a bit and im up like a buyin over 1k hands, but 50nl is more fun and relaxed I guess.

Yeah...I ran hot
  tae-g, Mar 14 2007

I have a Chem II test and a Diff Eq. test tomorrow, so I've been studying a lot lately with not much time for poker. I sat down today to play a short session for fun just to appease the addiction a little. 12 Tabling 6-max "fast" tables is a bit like trying to keep your APM at 300+ for a whole BW game, but it was fun/funny because I ran so amazing hot over so few hands. Have a look:

During current Hold'em session you were dealt..
  TianYuan, Mar 14 2007

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 764 hands and saw flop:
- 68 out of 133 times while in big blind (51%)
- 33 out of 138 times while in small blind (23%)
- 110 out of 493 times in other positions (22%)
- a total of 211 out of 764 (27%)
Pots won at showdown - 32 of 53 (60%)
Pots won without showdown - 84

+80$

I'm good son.

+ Like 200 hands I played before I reset the counter.

Stars froze or who knows how high I'd go!

I sucked out HORRIBLY on some guy, almost felt bad. I misplayed the hand kinda horribly (obviously intended to set an image, although I think I overdid it, badly) and of course I make trips on the river.. Yea.

On the other hand, I lost a lot to rivers with AA and KK so I guess it evens out! Funny how my KK has a higher win % than AA in pokertracker :D

REAL NEW ZEALAND NEWS
  TheHuHu, Jul 20 2005

<em>We hope all of you in London are safe and well after the dreadful terrorist bombings. A memorial service was held this morning in the city for a young New Zealand woman, Shelley Marie Mather, 26, who <a href="http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3351546a10,00.html">died in the attacks</a>.
</em> <p>Controversy continues to rage about whether the Government should step in to forbid the Black Caps going to <strong>Zimbabwe for a cricket tour</strong> later this year. The Green Party, human rights groups and most Kiwis (according to a recent poll) think the tour should be stopped to protest that country's worsening human rights abuses. </p> <p>The Government remains opposed to passing laws governing the travel of private citizens, which would admittedly be a rather ironic way to protest an authoritarian regime.</p> <p>Email networks and local blogs are abuzz with gossip and name dropping over reports that a number of <strong>high profile Aucklanders</strong> have been hauled in as part of a big drugs bust. The accused have name suppression, but the rumours point strongly towards two, well-known, former international sportsmen TV celebrities.... whom I'm just itching to name for you but had better not. </p> <p>The National Party still seems to have <strong>a slight lead</strong> over Labour. Despite a concerted campaigning effort by Labour over the Parliamentary winter holidays, <a href="http://www.nbr.co.nz/home/column_article.asp?id=12427&cid=8&amp;cname=News">the polls show</a> the Nats two points ahead. At this stage, either party would need NZ First to form a government, but Labour would need the Greens as well. </p> <p>Still no official word on the election date, but the 17th September is the favourite of most pundits.</p> <p>Perhaps a little belatedly, the Government announced <a href="http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3349497a10,00.html">a crack-down</a> on tertiary courses of dubious merit. A few high profile examples, such as <strong>sing-along in Maori classes</strong> and surfing courses, have caused much public outrage and Labour grief over the last year.</p> <p>From Whangarei? Your nearby Mt Parahaki has been renamed Mt Parihaka, after local iwi pointed out a historical error in the spelling. Not all the locals are <a href="http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?c_id=1&amp;ObjectID=10336656">that thrilled</a>.</p> <p>An amateur-built <strong>Kiwi satellite</strong> is closer to launch after Massey researchers made a <a href="http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3350525a11,00.html">breakthrough</a> in the development of its solar energy cells. The basketball-sized satellite will be piggy-backed into space on a much larger Russian satellite sometime soonish, hopefully.</p> <p><strong>New Zealand Idol 2</strong> has exploded onto screens (not mine) around the country and a 26 year old Masterton man is the <a href="http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3351742a1860,00.html">bookies' early favourite</a>. Meanwhile, the latest Tui billboard reads, "NZ Idol: Ticket to Stardom. Yeah right."</p> <p>The NZ-directed and filmed <strong>Chronicles of Narnia</strong>: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, is in post-production in London and nearing launch. </p> And Peter Jackson's <strong>King Kong</strong> trailer was <a href="http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/king_kong/">released</a>. Some of the scenes are recognisably south coast Wellington, and what looks like 1920s New York is actually Petone a few months ago.

ONLY IN NEW ZEALAND NEWS
  TheHuHu, Jul 20 2005

<p><strong>Carlos Spencer</strong> may be safely out of sight playing rugby in the UK, but his Dad is still annoying sensible New Zealanders. A game in Levin had to delayed while Graham Spencer was <a href="http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?c_id=4&amp;ObjectID=10336724">escorted from the ground</a> for making a--frankly outlandish--comparison between the touch judge and Adolf Hitler.</p> And, in more inland North Island madness, a Hamilton restaurant is receiving abusive phonecalls and hungry customers as a result of its new offering of horse steak, a meal they call <a href="http://www.canada.com/news/oddities/story.html?id=a8fb432f-b166-4028-99e3-615c5cdc2a07">"Mr Ed is Dead."</a>

NEW ZEALAND SPORTS NEWS
  TheHuHu, Jul 20 2005

<p>The final Lions test was scrappy but conclusive, 38-19 to the All Blacks, concluding the third <strong>Lions tour whitewash</strong> in history. Tana Umaga scored a satisfying two tries after being repeatedly and unjustifiably attacked by the British press. [<a href="http://www.planet-rugby.com/Tournaments/British_Irish_Lions/story_44766.shtml">Match report</a>] The ever gracious Sir Clive Woodward boarded his flight home reminding Kiwis that the World Cup's the only true test of a side.</p> <p>Now there's no rugby till August, when we can look forward to the Tri-Nations and the NPC (ahead of the end of year All Blacks Grand Slam tour of the UK - yep, it's a long season).</p> <p><strong>Michael Campbell</strong> wasn't able to repeat his winning form from the US Open, but came fifth in the British Open at St Andrews.</p> <p>Boxer <strong>David Tua</strong> is set to return to the ring at the end of the August. No details on where, who, or why. </p> <strong>The Warriors</strong> beat the Roosters, <a href="http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3350073a10713,00.html">24-22</a>, to keep alive their hopes of making the play offs.
