prop bet
CrownRoyal, Mar 17 2008
I come to you all today to offer a bet.
1. I start with $50 on pokerstars.
2. I must make the climb to nl25 ($500) in 50k hands.
3. I am not allowed to play sng.
4. I am not allowed to play tournaments.
5. If I go busto, you win the bet.
6. If i play outside of my set bankroll rules (move up at 20 buyins, down at 15) you win the bet. (I dunno how we can legitly do this but perhaps if you're trustworthy you can ask me up to 5 times to quit playing, give you the password to my account, check it, and return it to me, you can also see transaction histories this way to ensure yourself that I didn't redeposit/get transferred money)
7. I MUST complete the bet within 2 months or you win.
8. I MUST tell you about my progress if you inquire about it, for example: number of hands in/stakes playing/bankroll, etc.
I wanna get an escrow to hold our money, i don't care who as long as they are trustworthy.
1:1.5 odds, so my 300 vs your 450.
if any of you guys dont know me, i've been busto more times than i can count and can't manage a bankroll to save my life. This is a sick -EV bet for myself but I'm not doing it to profit.
anyone interested?
also, im willing to take smaller amounts of action, i just want to bet $300 total.
EDIT - I have a new offer, same rules as above, but I must complete the bet in under 20k hands for 3.5:1 odds.

1st place $115 buy-in tourney.
TheHuHu, Mar 16 2008
LIVE TOURNEY, BITCHES!! The field was about 50+ people and took a total of 5.5 hours to complete but I took home first place with a Jamie Gold chip stack with four other players at the final table. They decided I should take first and they would chop the rest (which was like $660 each) and I took first for $1870. I loved the tournament structure because you start off with 3,500 chips with blinds starting at 25/25 with 20-minute blind raises. A cool thing was top 10 people got paid which was totally different from other casinos where it's literally only top 10% people get paid which sucks if it's a 50-person tourney as well.
What I loved was that after 150/300, it became 150/300 with 25 ante, good shit! Anyways, I was severely discouraged at one point where I was only 10 big blinds strong and looking at huge chip stacks at my table, but I made some disciplined folds and doubled up a few times to come in average at the final table.
I made a pretty gosu call IMO where UTG raises 4x and I call with TT in MP pre-flop, everyone else folds. UTG checks and I bet half pot on a J82 two spade flop and UTG goes all in covering me well enough. I tanked for like five minutes before calling and he had pocket 77s and everyone ooh'd and ahh'd which made me feel like a champ and I was told by the person to my right that I was sweating profusely thinking about it (I had a sweater on and it was hot ). Anyways, this made me chip leader and I just started raising every hand and taking down like 5k dead money in the pot every time. I had so many chips the poker manager dude had to bring me three racks to stack my chips because it was everywhere, which he later gave me bigger denominations for them.
After my experience at these tourneys, I giggle to myself when people start whining and bitching when I raise every hand or I'm "too aggressive." There's only one goal when anyone plays these tournaments and that's to win.

It's been crazy out here. My $2,000 final table didn't go as well as I'd had hoped. Basically what happened was that I had $33,500 to start the final table at 2k/4k w 400 ante, and folded the first 3 hands. On the fourth hand I was in the small blind with $28,000 in my stack and it gets folded to my friend Jermey (aka TheTaker on FTP, I thought he played excellent on day 1) who shoved his short stack of $34,000 in the cut-off. I look down hoping for A9+, 66+ and happen to look at AJo. NUTS! I snap shoved for what I had left, and Jermey rolls over JJ. Ug sick life The board bricks off for me and I went out in 10th for $4180. Meh...
Last night brystmar (the CR pro who is also staked by peachy) made the final table of the $3,000 with the chip lead so we all were pretty excited for him. So in celebration, me and my friends from SD got drunk at Parasol Up, and went out to Tryst for a fun night of dancing. Pics will follow, def some funny stuff. I've now seen ElkY dance. My life is complete.
Kind of nervous right now, as tomorrow is my first $10,000 event. Pretty landmark moment in a poker career I think. I feel pretty confident about my chances in it, especially after seeing the fields in these previous events. I have a $100 last longer vs mig.com so that should be fun. I told him he's drawing dead thou, as I run too good at the Wynn for him to last longer tomorrow. Ok wish me luck, going out to Tao now, hopefully won't be too hung over tomorrow.

Does alcohol help ?
100Large, Mar 15 2008
Alcohol helps loosen my game play up, especially in live play. Must players cant read my abnormal playing style,i find this extremely help full at underground poker clubs. I like to take a shot of Whiskey right before i step in, literally. Letting the table(s) smell the liquor off the my breath helps with my image. They never knew what hit em
Back to cash games :).
TheHuHu, Mar 15 2008

Regrinding my BR - Update + Graphs
Bigbobm, Mar 14 2008
So I haven't updated in a while because I've been so busy owning noobs. I figured I'd post a quick update before I start my marathon. I've got a week off from school, so I'm hoping to get like a billion hands in. I'll probably be 16 tabling 50nl on FTP just in case any of you noobs wanna ruin my day and sit at my tables. By the end of next week, I'll probably have 255k+ FTP points to buy the new laptop in their store..

We're done with this hotel job in mid april, I should have 1.6-2k saved up by then. I don't think im gonna go to the next job and I've been thinking about something.
I'm gonna take a maybe one month shot at being a live grinder. I miss the freedoms of being a poker player and i hate having my life scheduled. Playing live is really good for me because it takes away most all of the ways that I can tilt. When I tilt I don't start playing stupid, I can't do that because it goes against my ways. I merely chase my losses on HU sng or something stupid, variance rapes me, and i go busto.
From my 15-20 live sessions(NL200) I can only recall two losing sessions and I know it's a really really easy game at my local casino. My only real question is if I can make enough money to live off of + maybe still increase my br at the same time to move up stakes eventually.
I think something like 25bb/100 isn't THAT far fetched in this game and is prob attainable. IF i can pull that off I'm averaging a $1 profit per hand. I'm not sure exactly how many hands I can play per hour, but im gonna guess 30ish, so looking at a raw $30/h from that winrate. Gotta figure in tips too so prob like 25-26/h.
I also gotta spend ~20 on gas each day I go to the casino and spend a bit of money on food although I could easily skip around eating during sessions.
If/when I do this I'm gonna try the best I can to make it really scientific. I'm gonna take something with me to keep track of my stats, maybe like one of the things that an umpire uses to keep track of strikes/balls/outs. Instead I'd use it for hands played/# of hands vp$ip/pfr
What do you guys think about all of this?
How long did it take too
100Large, Mar 12 2008
How long did it take to really start making large amounts of money from poker?
I've heard stories where guys deposit 50, and now are making 30k a month, how long does it take to achieve this status ?
Frustration
Sheitan, Mar 12 2008
This game is frustrating the shit out of me, i can't score in an mtt except winning these shitty 4$ 180, can't win a godamn mother fucking donkament. Play str8 solid for 5 hours only to get knock out and win 50$ -_-
Cash games are frustrating as well, make profit only to lose it the next day due to massive coolers/suck out. I know i shouldn't be ranting but i swear i wish i could run good for a short period just to have some faith and confidence back, my game is not the greatest for sure and i do realize it, but i think i could ez beat my current limit if only the deck would stop defecate on my head...
Now what's my plan ?
