Sickest Call... No Justice.
  NiagaraPoker, Dec 12 2007

So last night I was playing 5-5 NL at the Fallsview Casino, playing well and was up about $300.00, when this character sits down in seat 10.(Im in seat 2) It was shorthanded with about 6 of us playing. The guy who sat down seemed not to care about money and had a pocket filled with black chips. Every have the guy would raise from $25-$75 and apply maximum pressure to the nits, basically going all in every hand.

I look down to As Qc in the BB and seat 10 makes it $35 to go. The SB calls with a shortstack behind and I make it $145 to go. Seat 10 calls and the SB calls.

Flop: Js 4h 5h (Pot 435)
Sb checks, I check with the intention to check raise all-in vs the mark and he insta bets all-in himself for 900 and change. The SB deliberates and says "fuck it, I'll call" with his 100 or so remaining. So I studied the guy, picked up a huge tell and called with the AQ. He tables Ad-10h and the SB shows Kh-Qd. LOL ship it.
Turn: 3
River: 2

Gross.
No justice.

Mid-Challenge Update
  NiagaraPoker, Sep 14 2007

Just finished a small session of 50NL and I have tried playing less tables (4) too see how that works for me and to ease into NL50 this time. I found my decisions were a bit better and I booked a small win. 5.4/100 in 750 hands.
After some thinking I feel I need to improve a few things about my lifestyle that I will be doing in the upcoming weeks.
1.Try and get on a better sleeping schedule
2.Go for a 20 minute run each morning.
3.Start smoking less each month.
4.Make time to keep in touch with family through e-mail.
6.Purchase a decent bed.

Also I got my Full Tilt t-shirt and casino quality deck shipped to me today after a long 3 week waiting period. but I did not have to pay any fees as previously stated in a thread. So that's good I guess. Looking forward to getting a second monitor soon.

Good luck at the tables.

50k hand Challenge Update.
  NiagaraPoker, Sep 12 2007

So after beating 25NL in about a months time I set myself a goal to beat 50NL in 30 days. 10 days in I have played maybe 8500 hands so far and I am honestly pretty disapointed and frustrated. Tonight being the 3rd time I moved up to NL50 and ran horribly being forced to move back down.

My results have been pretty bad but looking at all my hands in PT I really should be winning a great deal. It seems I just play NL50 get a combination of set over set/set vs overpair/overpair vs FD or something and it knocks me down to 25NL. I crush there, move back up. Repeat. The thing is, I really like how I am playing right now. But I seem to lose a VAST majority of the time when the money goes in vs a short stacked player. It sounds strange but it seems the players at NL50 are actually worse than the previous level. They are throwing money at me, but for some reason... getting there.

It seems like I have a hundred of those hands. I know it's just variance losing these so often, but losing to short stacks this way makes me go crazy.

I am not playing the required hands to meet the goal I set for myself, but it's difficult to play my game when I consistently lose as a 4/5-1 favorite. Anyway, needed to rant a bit perhaps. Hopefully the next shot I take I can actually win a pot.

Take care kids.

50k hands 30 days.
  NiagaraPoker, Sep 02 2007

After 1 month of solid playing I have hit my goal of beating 25NL. I feel I ran very poorly and still reached the goal I set for myself, so I am very happy about that. After the full 30 days I have played 50,000 hands. (With a sick session of 6.5k hands played today)

I am going to start playing NL 50 tomorrow morning as a fresh start and give myself 40 days to beat the limit. I feel I can definitely play about 70,000 hands in that time. I don't expect to change my style until 200 NL.

During this stretch of smashing micro stake donks it has taken a lot of patience and strength to keep playing after taking consistent 2 outters and running horribly.. but I have a perfect quote of inspiration from Rocky 4.
"You're gonna have to go through hell, worse than any nightmare you have ever dreamed. But in the end, I know you'll be the one standing. You know what you gotta do.. do it. Do it.

Here's another blonde jem for those that have read.

Fighting the good fight.
  NiagaraPoker, Aug 21 2007

Grinding 25 NL is not something I thought I would be doing if you asked me a few months ago. I was a 2/5NL and 5/5NL regular at my local casino.(The Fallsview Casino, Niagara Falls.) I was living off of poker for months and banking money. Life was good and I had a bankroll floating from 12k-15k. Then I hit a bad run like you read about and went broke.
At first I did'nt know what to do. Money came so easily beforehand. I have a few friends that I could borrow from, but its my personal opinion that you don't play as well on someone else money and it just causes stress and problems that I don't need. So I sucked it up and got "real" work for a month and a half. Payed some bills/debts and deposited $400 on Full Tilt on the 4th of August to grind hard.
I tore through NL10 with 8.5BB/100 and in less than a week I was up to $650 and playing 25 NL. I currently have played 19,000 hands at 25NL and $909.57 in my account after a roller coaster 2k hand session in which I was down 7 buy-ins at one point. Ended the session up 1 buy in, and that felt damn good. It's a little degrating to be playing for a fraction of what I was playing before, but every time I feel that way I turn on the Rocky Soundtrack and it inspires me to smash donks all the way up to my former self.
At this rate I will be at NL50 at the beginning of September and looking upward. Playing full time and if I run well I think I can get to 200NL by the new year. So to all you kids who are grinding hard keep up the good fight.

I also have a thing for blondes. So heres some added inspiration:

It seems I need to re-model my online game. After reviewing some of these hands it seems I need to rethink how to aproach multi-tabling. Maybe less tables.
