Change!
  TalentedTom, Apr 08 2007

I didn't update in a while because I didn't feel like it, I didn't see the point of posting my results every few day(s). My results are preety consistant so it would be like posting almost morrior images of a prior week.

Instead I will try and post some thoughts and maybe some strategy for you guys. This will be a decent exersise for me because it will also force me to go over what I already know but maybe am not applying or things I forgot about and will re-call as I write. I will also most likley use examples from hands I have played and demonstrate my thoughts/theory in situations.

Note* These will be my thoughts, some of you may disagree make hate posts else where.

So stay tuned in the near future!

12 tableeeee!
  TalentedTom, Mar 26 2007

This is working out very decently - today I ran a 7k hand session and it felt like nothing. I'm so focused on playing each hand I don't have time to keep track of time or how much I'm up/down. It's a very cool change, this is what I've been trying to achieve for some time now and it's finally coming along.

On that note - I don't want to mix-up different stakes eg. 8 tables of 3/6 and 4 of 5/10 etc.. so the only stake that has 12+ 6-max tables running non stop is 2/4... which is kinda lame but I will try to find a way around it. Maybe in the future I will throw in some full ring tables*

This is today's session. 2/4 is a weird stake, I can make a killing on it if I decide to play there but I rather play 3/6 and 5/10 (esp 3/6, there are so many over aggro donkies)
What's also weird is that I thought I was playing tight - but apparently I give a lot of action, I thought my volume would be around 20ish but it's 25 - maybe that's why people keep playing back at me w/ trash

Vaesolis style!
  TalentedTom, Mar 23 2007

Okay - well the last few days I've been experimenting with 12-tabling and doing 4k+ hand sessions - I found out adding the extra tables really makes it easy to play long sessions. So I'm gonna try and do this for a while longer see where it goesss!'

So we will see if I can do a 10k hand session, I've only done it once before but that was 8 tabling. Gonna see if I can do one this weekend

Small steps.
  TalentedTom, Mar 11 2007

I realized it's not a good idea to set unreasonable goals because by not achieving them you are letting yourself down and 4k hands a day for 25 out of 30 days is an unreasonable thing to ask of myself. So I will try and do a weekly hand goal and build via small steps

This last week has been a okay, the clowns keep playing big pots w/ trash and the money keeps coming.

I also wanna give props to cardrunners.com for teaching people to repop preflop with garbage and 2-3 barrel bluff. The things they teach are very good but I think the majority of people watching it are really mis-interpreting what's really going on.
TY

That's my last few hands - as you can see I have tightened up substaicially and vary between 20-25 vpip. I kind of miss playing very loose and aggresive but true TAG is very profitable against today's players which consist of wanna-be LAGS who are incapable of folding anything.

So that 100k hands goal will rest in peace (for the time being) and I will come up with something more achievable and build from there.

100k+ Hands in 1 month
  TalentedTom, Mar 05 2007

Okay - this is what I am going try to and accomplish. Over the next few days I will figure out a way to accomplish this. Idealy I would want to do 3k hands/day but this assumes I will paly every day which never do, I always take breaks here and there. So I think I will have to do 4k+ hands over 25 sessions - this seems like the most practical way to achieve this.

BTW - I am not a nit.

Morons keep stacking off w/ 2nd pair sometimes just A high without draw - and I don't mean AK, they are playing AJ, A9 etc for stacks... UNIMPROVED - WTF - TY 4 donate.

I'm not even running good - over the last 6-7 weeks people just keep playing back at me for whatever reason and calling down very light. I'm actually losing a lot of big pots hands like AA v 99 all in pre or AK v AJ all in pre etc... but more often than not I do take those down.

So I will determine an action plan to persue this goal and see where things go from there.

Goals??
  TalentedTom, Mar 02 2007

A lot of people have asked me "Tom what are you'r goals?"
My response is always "uhhh" Unfortunatley I am not a very goal oriented person, recently I'm trying to play 2-3k hands a day and have been successfull at this for a few weeks now but nothing too specific. I'm not gonna do anythign retarded like "100k in 100 days" because that's stupid. So I imported my old blog and glanced through it and realized - I NEED TO PLAY MORE HANDS. I wanna be able to do 4-5k per session, and over-all at least 100k hands/month. Money goals do not matter because I can sustain a decent win-rate and if I put in the hands the $$ will come.

So I'm going to give this some serious considerstaion this time and see what I can make of it.

Cooler city.
  TalentedTom, Dec 05 2006

I havn't been running very well at 5/10, after 4-5 weeks of playing 3/6 without a single losing session I suppose this was due. My overpairs are running into higher overpairs and or are getting sucked out on + people seem to just be picking up better hands. So the last 2-3 days have been going poorly and I no longer feel I am playing my A-game, I don't feel my edge is very big in my current state so I will drop down and regroup temporarly. It's funny how confident you become after a really good month and how quickly things can take a turn for the worse :D

3/6 is my A game so I will play it for a few days and go back to 5/10 when I feel I am good and ready.

I had two interesting hands today:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/109748 People have tol d me this is a spew but I generally don't get these wong. My thought process is preety simple: if his hand isn't strong enough to bet the turn it's not strong enough to make this river bet as a value bet therefore it must be a bluff. This board has a lot of missed straights and that's exactly what I put him on, I felt he is only doing this with a hand that has absolutley no showdown value. Also it's transparent my hand is weak and I would figure if he had anything decent he would value bet it because it's clear I'm not strong enough to call a big bet.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/109644 This guy was on tilt and I figured only a stronger hand would call a 2nd barrel from me so I decided to let him bluff off his chips. I also didn't think he would smooth call a flush in his "tilt" stage most players on tilt will repop me here with any draw.

That's all for now, also this month I've played 14k hands so I think I will reach the goal of 75k. I'm on pace to exceed this but I will certainley take days off.

Okay :)
  TalentedTom, Nov 28 2006

I've had many requests from a lot of people to revive the blog, because it's been idle so long. So I figure I may do a few posts here and there but I will most likley change the format of the blog, I will just list things that I think are interesting and omit the ABC hands which I feel are not too significant.

I don't feel like spending too much time at the moment writing, but I will do a significant post int he near future

Looking back.
  TalentedTom, Nov 30 2006

I was browsing through some of my old hands that I posted here and reading the comments I made, and I can actually see how significantly my game and thought process has changed (for the better I beleive). While I was never very tight I am now considerably looser than before and my reads and understanding of the game is much better than it one was my winrate is almost 80% higher than it used to be as well.

My comfort zone at the moment is Stars 3/6NL. I can play this game and beat it for a very decent amount of money any time I want to. I've built a ton of my bankroll playing these stakes but I beleive now it's time for me to move up, there is not much left for me to learn at these stakes and I think I've certainley over-stayed my welcome. I've reached a level now where I hope I am good enough to beat any stake I wish to play or adapt quickly enough to be a winning player at any stake. So starting today I will play 5/10NL full time and attempt to move up higher at a much more rapid pace than before.

I've also made a friendly bet with Straate that we will play at least 75k hands this month (December), and if one of us fails to reach this number we pay the other 1k. I think if I do put in this number of hands playing my A game, I will have the biggest month of my life. So we will see where this goes.
