From a guy who has cancer himself, I can tell you I am truely sorry to hear about your mother. Breats cancer is luckily not the "worst cancer" one can get, as they are getting better at curing it. But as your friend has said, spend as much time as you can with your family, get the best possible memories. Even though it's a bit different in my spot, as I am the one who might have to leave to early, I try to get and give the best memories with my family, spend as much time with them as possible.
And keep up the positive thinking, cancer can be if not cured, then atleast killed for awhile, and perhaps in 3-4 years the cancer cure is out there.. so actually it's just about staying alive.
