just use 30 buyin bankroll management for 6player sngs. grinding slowly is fine as youre still learning, however if you feel you can grind higher stakes and profit better there i dont see any reason not to deposit extra (however, grindig it up is safer)
ps theres no reason whatsoever to blank out your name^_~

Thx rogier, i will try to grind as you said , i think i will read some stuff about micro stakes cash game and i might try it again when i will have a better br.
But i wonder what is the good sample size to know if you are good at a level ? 500 sng ?
Sng variance experts please tell me :O
ps: I blank out my name, because i can be terribly bm when someone beat me with a shitty hand and got lucky :<

No need to thank me, my pleasure pal ! But on a more serious note, grind your br up to 200$ and switch to cash games, they are way more profitable. |

I was actually thinking about it the other day. On one hand it is more profitable, on the other Sit-n-gos are much better poker, and when youll finally grind your bankroll to higher levels youll be much more prepared for high stakes then if you were playing the insane penny tables where anyone can call your aces-allin with 72o. |

Ok i think i will grind like i said before. Then i will see if i can enjoy cash game or if i will stick to sng.
My main problem with cash game atm is that i have no fun while playing. Moreover i dont really like to play on more than 2 / 3 table and cash game is clearly designed for multi-tablers .
I will try to mass play and see how it works. |

In fact i love donks in micro sng because i can double my stack quite fast if i'm tight .
The 20% rake is way more a problem imo. |

Those guys are just lucky ?
I'm not saying that sng players are more skilled than cash players or that sng are more profitable than cash game, but i really think that:
1- you can be profitable at sng ( especially if you play vs horrible players )
2- there are some skill involved.
Nevertheless nobody has answered my " sample size " question.

do you ever play those jackpot sng's on titan?...i forget what they are called
honestly...as far as improving your game goes...sng's may do that for you...but not as much as cash games can (imo)....i dunno..i used to play tournaments when i started playing poker online....and i cant say i gained much from doing so other than knowing now to stay away from them! i probably had the wrong approach tho..

20% rake is pretty bad. if you have confidence in your game as well as a bit of extra cash, it couldn't hurt to deposit some (and get a nice bonus hopefully) and take a shot at higher stakes. only do this if you are absolutely certain you'll be able to drop down in limits if the games are too tough for you atm.
welcome to teh pokers and gl |

also, definitely switch to cash games when you have like 25-30bi for 10nl. play 4-6 tables of 6max and you will learn a TON and you wont really get bored if youre focused. just watch how the other players play their hands, pick up on their tendencies and take lots of notes to help you make reads and exploit their weaknesses. |

boblion ignore 90% of the replies in this thread.
Really I suppose you only need 30 buyins at the lowest stakes but more is nice.
sngs can be profitable, after the 22's they're pretty much not though even the 22's are a stretch.
try to find a site where its 5+50c not +1 dollar.
yes cash games require more skill (by far) but that doesn't mean theres no skill in sngs - equally to play properly in cash games you need quite alot of experience and knowledge so in some ways you might as well just grind sngs out.
everyones likes "switch to cash games switch to cash games" do what you want - i'm a cash game player but i must've spent my first 6 months playing sngs.
good luck, keep grinding and not tilting. be aware of how your opponents are playing and don't be like "omfg how could call me allin with K6o in the bubble" when he's been doing shit like that all game - its your mistake by not adjusting to his calling range not his. (assuming he's been playing like a complete retard)
anyway good luck
ps sorry for bad english - even though I am English =p |
