Sick day

Yeah ive been lazy with wsop blogs (sorry about that) but today was crazy. I've played 3 donkaments and my personal highlights include bustoing a bunch of people with middle pair, best being busting Roland De Wolfe with midpair in a limped pot in level 1 blinds when we were deep (c/c flop c/rai his turn overbet, hold vs obvious big draw). Other notable funstuffs in the last 3 days for me includes 8 hours of gambling it up with and battling vs Phil Ivey in the $1k rebuy WSOP event nr 5, having Clonie Gowen get annoyed at me for raising too much on that same table and busting lilholdem later on in that tournament with a call that was so good and destroyed him so hard that he didnt even realise how badly he got destroyed and just thought I was a donk. eat it sir.

But anyway far more notable than my live donkament funtimes were two things:

Grant Hinkle, Blair's brother (Blair being mig's roommate who sick hero destroys huge tourneys everywhere), is right now as I write this on the verge of winning Event nr. 2 $1500 nlh (the biggest 1500 tournament ever to take place ever with like $830k for first). Obv mig, echo and his family are right now where I should be, railing him, but myth and I came home early to get an early night as we're playing day 2 of the $1k rebuy tomorrow from 2pm. The best thing about this is that Grant isn't even a poker player, he has a fulltime job in the corporate world and was telling me yesterday how his work colleagues who were ignorant of poker being a skill game different from regular gambling were shaking their heads at him when he told them he was taking time off work to go to vegas to play in a poker tournament, and saying "u know the house always wins in the end, but good luck man...". Now they're gonna see him on TV winning a huge 6 figure amount, a guy who only came for a few days to play in that one single tournament, and bought himself in and has all his own action. So awesome, I'm mad happy for him even if he just comes 2nd.

And the second sick thing of the day is what Tom got up to after he busted the 1k rebuy and came home. NOTE: from now on in my blog whenever I say Tom I will be referring by default to the real McCoy that is Tom, the bonafide sicko known as teej1985 on lp and tjbentham on stars, my ex-roommate. fkin TOM, not to be confused with certain other "talented" pretenders who should heretofore be referred to by either their full names or full lp id to avoid any sort of confusion at all with the real TOM. Anyway I digress, TOM played the sickest 6-7 hour session ever at 200/400 stars fullring with Steve_haris driving the action as is standard for whenever that game actually runs. He had all his own action which is so huge for both of us, and ran probably something like $400k below expectation and broke even overall. HEAD ASPLODE SICKKKKK. just INSANE swings compared to what either of us are used to, a HUGE shot but one that was TOTALLY worth it because of how insane ++EV the game was. He's taking it incredibly well and feels really good about having gone thru it and gotten some experience at playing nosebleed level games against a fish and regs that are scared money (Tom shouldve been superscared money too but somehow from being some sort of sick hero wasn't, and was instead beating on other regs that were). We're gonna go all thru the hands and discuss soon after he finishes importing in PT3, which is the last thing I'll do today just before sleeping for the donkament tomorrow. Also Joy (liquid`meat) is here at our house and has reset TOM's long-forgotten LP password so he'll begin posting here again soon and has promised to share his awesome hero graph of today pretty soon.

So sick, all this stuff happened today!

Grant and Blair are the only brothers to both win a FTOPS event... soon to be brothers with bracelets?

And totally sick 200/400 action, what a hero.

Of course it was a good shove, I won

Winner.

Grant Hinkle raised to 350,000 preflop and James Akenhead reraised to 1.2 million. Hinkle then reraised all in and Akenhead quickly made the all-in call. They both flipped up their cards and revealed:
Hinkle: 10 4 Akenhead: A K Board: 10 4 10 10 5 Hinkle flopped a full house fours full of tens only to improve to tens full of fours on the turn. The hand was more than enough to win Hinkle his first gold bracelet, and send the Englishman Akenhead to the rail in second place ($520,219). Hinkle was cheered on by his poker-professional-brother Blair, his mother, as well as James “mig.com” Mackey, and some of his co-workers from Kansas City, Missouri, as he accepted the golden prize, along with $831,279 in prize money.
