I've got the college bug >_<

if u read my early blog I write about dropping out, but I've never wanted to go back anymore than I do right now. ITS ONLY JANUARY >_<

fuck so long away.
tired of this FT grind knowing I can do 100x better in 10 years.

Poker is kinda meh. breakeven days after breakeven days. frustrating but I know if I stick to it I'll see a turnaround soon enough.

Goals for 2008
-Go To College [Carthage or Mankato]
-Have 20k saved up for college [by the last day I work]
-Have 8k in my stars account [by the end of the year]
-STUDY MY ASS OFF AND TRY FOR ONCE IN MY FUCKING LIFE

I'm tired of mediocrity. I'm tired of being tired. If I don't do well this year in college... I really don't know what'd I would do.

I have great people around me in my life and for whatever reason I fuck up every time I need to take control and live up to what I hear I can be, and I know I can be.

Didn't mean to drag this out but ya...
<3 LP
Hope 2008 goes a lot better than 2007.

so what do you think is gonna be different when you go back =/
i "went back" numerous times with increased motivation , it just wasn´t enough
now i have no degree, a terribly paid job and have just started poker again
u shud switch to 5/6max if you hate grinding and have the roll. really, it was so fun and interesting when i done it on 50nl (just a handful of tables, really focusing on reads etc)

I think my experience in the world working FT and paying bills will really drive me to show up to classes. I feel like if I can just get over the first term, and see that if I work even a little bit I'll be able to see what I'm working for. Which will make me want to try even harder to succeed.

no, i came into college not wanting to be there in the first place. I have a drive to go this time. We'll see how it goes, for once I believe I'll be okay.

what is college going to do for you.. who wants to get a same-every-day career and work for a measly wage...
aim to be rich and get some investments and business ideas going... you play poker, so you already have the requirements: insane competitiveness, bankroll management, and evaluation of EV.

How about people that are passionate about what they want to do with their lives? Also, contributing to society? Moral obligation? I'm not knocking poker players but its hilarious that you're insulting someone for wanting to go to college. How about you use that same demeanor when you're wanting your car fixed by some guy that majored in auto tech. Also, make fun of the guy that performs surgery? Watches over your tax returns? I could go on forever, I'm just saying that just because you don't have a passion in your life for a job you love that doesnt mean that people who do are in some way inferior.

nah i think he/we just relate to the OP in some way and are responding as such
oc i kno nothing about sven or what he does or what college course he does but i remember typing/thinking similar thoughts a few years ago and those spontaenious feelings never worked their magic for me in the end

really i dont know how people do what they end up doing other than that it must either be very interesting/engaging, or they have nothing overriding it so that it becomes a routine. eg for me, i played free MMOs the last few months, moving from one to the next as they became boring. now i´ve finally got that outa my system i´m back to poker. i have a full time (few hours) job that is engaging but ..meh. ive thought about doing open university, or going back to uni, or english teaching in japan etc (altho thats a cost and 80% requires a degree and 400% requires hard work). i dunno, poker is good for me because i´m so easily content. i pay $480/month to my grandmother for rent/food. really i should be back in uruguay/mexico/somewhere playing poker and being content and not fucking up this time. "this time around".. =(

I'm not insulting people that labour at surgery or repair work... I admire them and thank them well. I'm just saying that the quality of life is not as great as being a rich investor imo.
often they can see that they could make much more money, but they just.. don't... they just stick to the normal, the accepted.
we're poker players... we don't hate money.

eh i can relate to all u said. all the time i hear what i "can" do n all this shit. the only reason im in college is cuz my bro dropped out and it would crush my mom if i did too. ive only got 3 more semesters but i hate school and dont wanna be there. i also never rly try @ nething but i wanna get better @ poker so i rly just focus on that. gl w finding ur way and succeeding man. the difference between u and me is that i have accepted the fact i dont wanna do any of this and dont wish to rly put forth the effort, id rather put the effort towards poker. i commend u on realizing what u gotta do, best of luck

Only thing mankato is really good for is catching STD's going there is aiming for below mediocrity and an itch in your pants.
