Starting up poker again.

Here we go again. It's time for me to take up poker again. I can't say that I've had a long break from it, actually just a few days, but I'm still "starting over".

My last session was the worst poker session of my life. I'm playing NL50 (6 max) and basically I lost $500 in one session, tragically enough nearly half my bankroll. The thing is, I know that I can handle playing good poker, I know the maths and my stats are actually really good.

I'm aware of the problems that I have and they unfortunately cost me a lot of money, and that's what I'll have to change. My biggest problems are that I'm trying to bluff too often when I'm bored and haven't had any action for a while, and while I do think that the bluffs would actually work quite well on higher levels, they fail at NL50 because they get called. I don't bluff all that often, but the times I do and still get called that's where I loose my money.

My other problem is that when I actually catch monsters or semi-monsters I tend to play them too slow if I hit cause I want to maximize my winnings from the hand, but instead I let people with retarded hands hit their straight on the river (example). So basically I win lots and lots of small pots but the times when I actually loose pots I loose a lot of money. I'm aware that this isn't a small issue, because it's basically the basics about "Minimize losses and maximize winnings" that's failing for me, and I think I'll have to play more by the book by being more aggressive and bluff less, at least at this level.

Until now I've been playing at FullTilt, but since I want this to feel like I'm starting over, I'm now going to play on PokerStars (I think the skill level on low stakes there is lower than on FT), even though that means I'll miss out on the lovely rakeback and at the same time I'm starting a new Pokertracker database. I'm starting up with a bankroll of $820 (well, that is if NETELLER reactivates my account so I can actually transfer money from my FT account, or if someone with PS money wants to trade vs FT money, please let me know!) and I'll start at NL25 for now to get used to the client and stuff, but I'm sure that I can handle NL50 even though my Bankroll isn't big enough if you'd go by the book.

I'll try to play about 1000 hands a day and move up to NL50 as soon as I hit $900.

Restart:
Limit: NL25 (6 max)
BR: $820

I was thinking about starting blogging here quite a while ago but I decided that I was too lazy, but I'll give it a go now since I think that some advices by people on this site are really helpful and it may improve my poker.

Will get back to you after my first session!
