hey Lp, any chance one of you native spanish speakers can just confirm that I'm translating this in the best way?

Working on a project called the "Nobel Legacy Film Series" and we want to translate the title to spanish. Right now here are the two options I'm looking at (I like the first better, but wtf do I know):

1) Legado de Nobel Ciclo de Cine
2) Nobel de la herencia de Cine de Serie

Thanks to anyone who can help out =)

lol could you pick a less translatable expression for your project? Is Nobel a name or a word?

They are both bad.
I'll use:

1) Ciclo de cine "Legado Nobel" (that means a film series named "Legado Nobel, which is kinda what I understand from title :s)

I can outright tell both of ur titles do not make sense in spanish.

Spanish native here:

The 2nd option makes no sense, the 1st one is kind of decent but doesnt sound right to me.

I would say "Ciclo de Cine: El legado de Nobel"

Since "Ciclo de Cine" means "Film Series" and i believe "Nobel Legacy" is just a name amirite?.

Your a retarded taco eating bad fuckin poker player. lolololoLast edit: 26/01/2012 16:31

"Legado del Nobel Serie de Cine" can be a better option

Nobel Legacy = Legado del Nobel (i need to know what do you mean with Nobel, if you mean the person use DE instead of DEL, if you mean the prize use DEL)

You can also try with

"Nobel, su Legado" that would be "Nobel, his legacy"

And use Film Series (Serie de Cine) as a second title, like
"Nobel, his legacy.
Film Series" Not in a single sentence.

Ciclo = Cycle. It depends what is going to be on the project. a cycle is used for example, if in a given day/week, people can go an see movies from the same theme, like horror, and you put different movies of different ages or whatever. A series is more like in TV, maybe for example if you put all the Nightmare on elm street movies.

Film, can also be "Filme" but again it depends on what you are thinking.

it can be "Serie de Filmes" meaning a serie of movies or "Serie de Cine" if by Film you ar referring to cinematography and not a movie.
You can use Películas, instead of Filmes, i think people are more used to read and say Películas instead of Filme. But the correct would be to use Filmes. Películas = Movies.

"Legado de Nobel. Ciclo de Cine" If its going to be a cycle as i explained, or "Legado de Nobel. Serie de Cine" if its like a TV serie.

This is the better option, and its how is used. (again the use of Ciclo depends, but i think is ok)

Google Ciclo de cine, in images, and you can find some examples for what "ciclo de cine" is used.

What i explained its short and literal option of the english titlte you posted.

yes, but you don't say something like "serie de peliculas".

Edit: Also use what carreira said, is a properly spelled version of what I said:

Ciclo de Cine: El legado de Nobel

thanks guys, much appreciated. Nobel as in "Nobel Prize", but using it to refer to the people who got the prize, cause it's a film series on Nobel Laureates.

^thats just a bunch of words.

"Serie cinematografica: Legado de Nobel" is correct but it translates to Nobel´s Legacy as in the man, for the prize it has to be either "Legado del premio Nobel" or "Legado del Nobel" which is a bit dicey but should do imo.
