I suck
  curtinsea, Jun 17 2007

After last Sunday's run, things have gotten a little shakey. After ending last Sunday $300 up, I worked through the week running that up to $465, only to run that down to about $200 by this afternoon's event. Playing stupid and donking off my chips one sng after another. since it's father's day, I'm going to step away from the computer for a while after the LP tourney. I'll try to come back fresh for one or two more sngs tonight, but right now I feel like I don't know what I am doing. If you've seen me playing, you know what I mean.

Busted out of the weekly by PastoroVic, who seems on a roll, lucking out left and right (his KK against my 77), lol.

Trying one more two-table turbo before I go, though I dropped down to $6.50 rather than another $16.
finished in fourth, barely in the money. Better than nothing, but still not really playing well.

Ever have one of those days?
  curtinsea, Jun 10 2007

Playing sit n go donkey tournaments as I usually do has yet to make me rich. Go figure. Usually you find me playing $6.50 turbo two-tables. I played in $16 2-tables when my bankroll was bigger, but donking out in ten or fifteen minutes @ $16 a pop cuts into the roll pretty heavily. But today was different. I haven't played a $16 in a while, so today I thought I would give it a shot. Glad I did, because I won it! And to keep me occupied until the sunday weekly, I played another. That one I came in 2nd! I felt like I was on some kind of roll, but the next one found me out in 10th place. Not to be deterred, I got back on the horse again, and once again I rode it to the end and won! How long could this ride last? The next tourney I donked out of in 11th, and started thinking it was time to call it a day, but I still had the jones to play, so one more time I plunked down my $16 and got in the fight, and won for the third time today! Six tourneys at 16 (-96), three firsts and a second (+405) for a net of $309, which represents my best single day of online poker. HEE HAW

My run in the Sunday weekly was cut short by suckout after suckout. I think it's rigged. I would like to thank Blunt smokr and Chobo for donating their stacks to my cause.

Today was probably my best single day playing online poker

poker tracker?
  curtinsea, May 03 2007

I downloaded the program from pokertracker.com. Can anyone share use experience with this program, i.e. is it safe to run, no bugs etc., do you find it helpful?

Your input is appreciated.

weekends suck
  curtinsea, Apr 22 2007

so I come to the end of the week with a whimper, busting out of a half-dozen SnGs in a row leading up to Sunday's LP tournaments. I was able to win my first match in the HU tourney, but up against Roald in my second match I don't think I stood a chance. He played pocket fours well and took most of my stack on one hand.

In the Weekly, I faired no better. I had little to play with and finally busted out. I'm falling behind in ladder points too, dropping to sixth.

I seem to lose back on the weekend all I have gained during the week (often and then some). Just more fish during the week? I dunno I must be the fish

so far so good, this week anyway
  curtinsea, Apr 18 2007

Followed up Monday's up day with another up day Tuesday. If I seem excited about coming out twenty bucks ahead, it's because I'm used to losing twenty bucks instead. Four $6 sng's, two cashes, both thirds. Made a couple dollars at the fishing hole too. I think I'm on a roll.

up day monday
  curtinsea, Apr 17 2007

Monday was an up day for me. Got up at 5 am and got in a two-table sng with a $6 buy in and quickly donked out. But I had time before work to try again, so I got in another. I played well, got good cards, and sucked out when I needed to enough to build a nice chip lead. But it was getting near time to go to work and I hadn't even gotten dressed yet. So I sat out with five of us remaining and a huge chip lead and got ready for work. Before long I hear the sound of me being blinded off in heads up play, so I came running back to the table to find my opponent with a 3/1 chip lead. It takes just six hands to come back and win. Not a big win, but it still feels good. After work, I finished 3rd in another, and managed to come away a little ahead.

It's 5:20 am right now and I'm in another sng, so I better get back to it. Wish me luck lol

Sunday tourney
  curtinsea, Apr 15 2007

Not a great tourney for me today. Cards sucked. Game is rigged. The whole world is against me. I got all in with a/10 spades, against fives and queen high. Flop hit the queen and another five, and so ends my tourney. Looks like I retained my spot on the ladder though. RaSZi wasn't there to pull further away. Really only vltava pulled away a bit. I'm going to have to cash next week.

poker star in the making
  curtinsea, Apr 15 2007

How I started

I started playing real money games on pokerstars November 7th of '05. I had felt I was doing well enough at play money games and that this pokerstars thing would be a breeze. So I made a deposit of $50 (big money!) and entered a five-table $10 + 1 sitngo. Much to my chagrin, I donked out in 30th place. Undeterred, I immediately entered a three table, with similar results. Now I was concerned. I had donked away half my bankroll in just over two hours. I took a deep breath, and entered another five table. This time, the results would be favorable, as I took down the tourney (ps tourney #14820307) and $139 for first place. Third time's the charm! Kick ass, I'm going to be rich. Win a couple of these a day and retire from my day job. I knew poker would be easy! WRONG
The road from here would not be so rosey.

Where I've been

Over the next year I searched for my niche, a level where I could find consistant succes, but so far this has eluded me. I won some but I busted out even more. Donking out of 11 dollar tournaments got too expensive, so I moved down to lower buy-ins. But the players at that level don't know when they are supposed to fold, so bluffing is hard and suckouts frequent. Still hard to win. And mistakes, boy I make them a lot. Calling when I know I'm beat, playing weak hands weak, not maximizing big hands, stuff like that.

Where I'm at

I play a lot of 2 table turbo sng tournaments at various buy-in levels. According to sharkscope, I lose about a dollar a game on average. I think I need to get away from these tournaments, because my cash percentage isn't good and I just give money away. You might find me early in the AM (west coast) at ring tables, usually at .02/.05 tables. I call this 'still fishing'. Just wait for premium hands and get paid off every time. Slow grind to make any money though.

Where I'm going

I hope to improve my game enough to get in the black. Dreams of becoming the next Moneymaker have faded, but I still think I am a decent player. I have little live table experience, but I am planning to play at least one bracelet event at the WSOP this year (most likely event #27 on June 16th). I expect to get creamed, but it will be a fun experience for me anyway. If I cash, I'll play another event. In the mean time, I like pokerstars, and the crowd at Liquidpoker.net have turned out to be fun to play with. I have been watching some of you play, and am in awe.

I'll be trying to build my rep by knocking you guys off! So beware haha.

Introductions
  curtinsea, Apr 14 2007

Welcome - I discovered LP last November, quite by accident. I found a link to a hand posted here that I was involved in. I actually had won the hand, but I was sitting with no money at the table and didn't win much. I guess that was his point with the post. What I found in LP was a lot of brash talking poker players, some deep discussion of mathematical theory, blah, blah , blah. And so I set out to show them up! So I play in the Sunday tourney and try my best to win. To date I haven't won, but I have finished second twice, and I'm hanging on to my spot on the ladder. I suck really. Need some coaching I think. I may be on the verge of greatness, though, so watch out. See you on Sunday!
