Guys, if you do play on Hero Poker, please note: from being from PS, I do know the shortfalls of the client and the difference in user base.
So the following here is to just give you general tips so you don't tilt right away.

1. The client is considered outdated, while it was good for 2004, obviously times have changed and the client will be upgraded in all aspects by July/Aug. Those updates will bring it line with FT, but if you do play on Hero, you'll note the designers have focused on some unique aspects as well, that are more targeted to the casual player.

2. Hide the All-in button: you can do this through the Player settin button which will open an in client screen. For general information, click 'player admin' and it will open another browser screen and have all the information you require: tournament tickets, etc: this will be integrate directly into the client later (like PS/FTP), but bear with us for the moment.

3. The betting slider bar: it goes up by where you CLICK IT! not in increments! So use it carefully or don't use it at all. (This also will be changed into 3 settings)

4. The players on the Merge network during peak hours are primary and still primarily sports book players who play single tables and will call everything down to the river. While your initial reaction is 'hey, these players are fishy like hell, look at how retard their calls are'; you will experience a much higher degree of suck outs and bad beats, simply because a majority of players are calling down to the river. So you need to adjust accordingly, just playing as you play at PS or FTP and expect things to turn around eventually isn't going to work, you need to adjust a bit.

5.Multi-table screen function: its a bit weird on Hero, if you use the function in 'player settings' because it makes a set grid rather than tiling or cascading the individual windows. Also, it may be better to manually size windows than just use the mini-mode etc, but unfortunately, you'll have to tweek it a bit.

6. To change the card/table colour settings, click on the top right corner of the game table and it will have the options there.

7. The DEPOSIT button is the Cashier Button, and located at the right side middle of the client lobby or the first option on the bottom left of the client lobby. Sometimes it says cashier, sometimes it says deposit- a failed attempted to integrate marketing in the client back in the day, this has titled many players.

8. Jackpot tables take .50 cent from the pot, crazy I know, but that is how it is set up to what I understand.

If you guys have any issues, you can PM any time and I prefer that you do and I'll try to sort it out where I can.
And I will be asking the network to set up some more HU sit&gos in the near future.

Leave any suggestions for further tables you're interested in here as well as any other things that tilted you but that you found a solution for.

Cheers,
David

With the due software update in coming months, many of what I say may get addressed already. But here are some list of stuff that you haven't mentioned.

1) Lobby window
When you resize the lobby window, the client does not remember it. Meaning, if you were to resize it, close the client and reopen, it will go back to its default window size (which I think is a bit small).

2) Multitabling at 1680x1080
I play 4 tables, and I cannot order them in tiled for a normal table view because the fonts are way too small. Mini view looks great and simplified, but I don't like how it doesn't display the chips when making bets, and that the buttons are far too bulky and take unnecessary amounts of space. They're too long horizontally and way too short vertically, making the actual clicking space not much bigger than the standard tables.

3) Time Bank
In Hero Poker, you have to build your time bank as you play on that table. So you have to make quicker decisions at times. Also, none of the sites have this, but could we potentially have auto-timebank feature? Table Ninja provides this feature for PS and FTP, but I feel that every site should have this as a feature.

4) Filter
Primitive, but I expect it to improve with the software update.

5) Stars
I guess this shows their ranking in their ~300 level system. I don't know how to differentiate the rankings.

6) Tagging icons to players
It doesn't stand out very well. I'd like it if I can change the colour scheme of specific players' name plates like I can change my own over the silly icons that are too small.

Can you elaborate on BBJ tables? Is it 50 cents out of EVERY pot? Just flopped pots with min pot size or what?

The only hands a nit balances in his range are the nuts, the second nuts, and the third nuts.

hide the all in button my ass. it's such a sweet little button ;D

and who doesn't love people calling down to the river?

Only gripe is have with this network is that the 2/4+ games are pretty much dead. just like in UB.

and the 1/2 games i'm assuming are very slow during downtime hours. This will feel very similar to the UB grind so I'll manage ;D

It's not like I can deposit a big number right away anyway.

lol software is nice but was a little bit tilting. when i had a table up i could not find an 'open lobby' option for that game. i had to go to the main client menu and then click the my games option, and double click the game i wanted to see. looking forward to seeing what changes come.

Is anyone having issues with the client crashing? in a session of 700 hands the client froze 3 times.

After the Black Friday, I downloaded a couple of poker clients, including Hero Poker, and thought that it wasn't terrible. But it isn't really suited for multitabling (same goes for most other sites too btw). I could probably get used to playing upto 6 tables on Hero.
Imo best softwares out there are PS/FT/Cereus. In that order. I'm a euro player and used to play a bit on Absolute P, beside my main side wich is PStars. I think if your software improves I might look into playing on Hero Poker as a secondary site.

Yomer, I did play a short session and had the client crash once. (windows 7).

David, does HEM support your network? I think there was like a 3rd party software to automaticaly convert merge hands.

ofc HEM works, theres also a scanner that works for merge, AND a software that makes multitabling a bit easier.

You pokerstars fanatics, shouldnt be that critical about other networks.

1. Can you elaborate on BBJ tables? Is it 50 cents out of EVERY pot? Just flopped pots with min pot size or what?
-Its out of the flopped pots, but still need to check on the min-pot, but the lowest limit is 1/2

2.Is anyone having issues with the client crashing? in a session of 700 hands the client froze 3 times
-Usually the client is very stable, but if this does happen again, please let me know when and I'm going to get the tech guys to chase up with this, just let me know the server time.

3. lol software is nice but was a little bit tilting. when i had a table up i could not find an 'open lobby' option for that game. i had to go to the main client menu and then click the my games option, and double click the game i wanted to see. looking forward to seeing what changes come.

Unfortunately this is how it is set up, but most of the changes in the pipeline were instituted from comments over the last year and from twoplustwo.

4. So for the US players, how did you guys deposit on the site?

The payment solutions are still there, I think many players are having more consistancy with usemywallet, but you need to email support to get that invitation (support@heropoker.com).

5. HEM and PT3 are support, see the above comment by shLim (thanks)

As soon as I'm able to give you guys a definite date on when the new upgrades I will, but for the moment I hope you can adjust until that occurs.

Cheers,
David

David,

Do you know if the way that notes/player tags are stored will be changed? Right now I can't read the information because it is not stored in human readable form but rather some weird (encrypted?) text and I'm not sure if there is a reason for that. I make a 3rd party app that people use to view/modify their notes away from the table and am getting lots of requests for better merge support but am not able to provide it.

you know the best thing about hero poker, is really the CEO. im not saying this to suck up or brown nose, but what other poker sites have ever had this much hands on information, concern, feedback, and friendliness?

i LOVE pokerstars. with a passion. it has been, to this date, the best company i have ever come across, anywhere, in any field. the support was amazing, the client, amazing.....great company

i think david and hero will be able to top it, at least in terms of customer care, and i think in the not so distant future, they will compete software client wise. i like hero poker and the merge network. it obviously needs to be tweaked a little bit, but they are working on that. i never had the chance to play on party poker before the US crackdown..from what i gather, the merge network is a bit like party back in the day, except with an amazing, caring CEO and the drive to improve every aspect of the site.

david, thank you

also, please get Mipwnya to become one of your pros

Quentin, you are a hero!

go to HUD options -> site options. merge network is not listed so i assume HUD isnt available for HEM at least.

ive played about 2k hands there so far and i dont have much problem with the software. i can 8 table pretty comfortably. if you make the tables too small its hard to see when the action is on you but if you cascade or have a few screens you will be fine.

hm if you go to hud options -> player preferences -> use for, merge appears in the dropdown list on site:. also my friend has the hud working but he didnt have any problem to begin with so i dunno.

been going through everything. not sure what the issue is. did the seating preferences and stuff. ive read other ppl having issues with the default hud showing up instead of their own hud but nothing about not having it show up at all.
