Anyways cant you just tell them to fuck off since they don't have a warrant to search your vehicle ?
Plus thats the main reason people think americans are dumb, they passionately protect the image of their country, while they are actually held hostage by the police. Guess one must touch fire to understand its qualities. Isn't there a law in which if you're a suspected terrorist they can do whatever they want with you and everything you own, they can basically have some very very veeeeery doubtful evidence and destroy your life in hours

i didn't watch this whole video yeah it's legal, i remember there was a case in the midwest of some motel getting stolen by a state prosecutor i think? because of drugs and activity like that. i think they found a conflict of interest somewhere and also there was a counterargument of people have a right to do legal things in areas even if there's a lot of crime. also if you are traveling with cash and an agent is searching you and has any suspicion that you're linked to drugs the cash is gone

when you ask whether something is "legal" it's really not about like a scientific logical perfect answer to the question according to legal statutes, it's more about whether one side or another has enough money to win a court case. and the police have a home field advantage to win cases in their own courts so it's quite expensive to show when they are fucking around

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen

If you are pulled over by a cop, you have been detained for something, rolling stop, missed turn signal, any driving behavior they deem erratic. You are already getting a ticket and they can ask you any questions they want.

They cannot auto search your car but if they have probable cause they can, like smelling weed, see a weapon, act drunk, lots of stuff.

Technically, they can ask you if you have weed or open liquor and if you say yes, they can search your car and go further, arrest you, etc.

Now, apparently, asking someone if they have Money fits in the same category of having any thing similar to the proceeds of crime, like bomb making material, crack or meth making material, etc.

I am not sure how you have to answer these questions, or what happens with the various methods. I know you can
refuse to answer any questions without a lawyer present. when you say that, they can auto detain you under suspicion and impound your car without searching it. However, if you have $10k in your trunk, telling them to talk to your lawyer seems like a way better idea then getting searched and fucked over if the cop or department are zealots

so basically, anytime they pull you over and you have a lot of money on you, always refuse to answer any questions that would deem them probably cause to search you.

You do have lots of money on you:

If they ask have you been drinking and you have not, say No
If they ask have you any drugs good sir and you do not, say No
If they ask have you any money in large amounts, say I will not answer further questions without my lawyer present.

You have not broken any laws at that point (other than some driving infraction) and there is no grounds for a search at that point, so they should not be able to get your trunk open and seize your money under civil forfeiture.

"American shakedown: Police won't charge you, but they'll grab your money
U.S. police are operating a co-ordinated scheme to seize as much of the public’s cash as they can"

The Washington Post this week reported that in the past 13 years, there have been 61,998 cash seizures on roadways and elsewhere without use of search warrants.

The total haul: $2.5 billion, divided pretty much equally between the U.S. government and state and local authorities (hence the Kafkaesque “equitable sharing” euphemism).

Half of the seizures, according to the Post, were below $8,800. Only a sixth of those who had money taken from them pursued its return.

I've been thinking about this for a while

do you deliberately post the opposite of what you think a reasonable person would post every time you post?

Adding to those stats, there is a large one missing. Nearly all of the confiscations are minority, Black/Hispanic.

Being black and growing up in a black community seems pretty terrible, comparatively speaking.

They lead in almost all statistics that you do not want to be in.

As well, not being black but growing up near or in black communities puts exponential risk of racial assault/violence/hate crimes towards the none black persons.

There needs to be a large scale attempt to empower the disenfranchised black youth who get caught up the deplorable cycle that manifests within the largely impoverished, relatively higher violence, unstable social environment.

The psychology of perception and prejudice play a large role in altering the future communities, as well as altering the initial environment for infants and children via increased social assistance and services. Low education, follows teen pregnancy, low income, weak pregnancy assistance, weak parenting assistance and education, weak daycare opportunities results in another generation of troubled youth. A vicious cycle

Vincent Costello was one of them. Driving down to fix up a home in Florida with his girlfriend, the two were pulled over in May 2010 by Deputy Mason Ashby for a cracked windshield. During the stop, Ashby claimed he smelled marijuana and searched the van. No drugs were found. But the deputy did find over $30,000 in cash. Ashby contacted another deputy, a member of a regional DEA task force. Despite the pesky fact that they didn’t find any drugs, police seized all of Costello’s cash. Article

Reminds me of the DOJ/police taking all that UB/AP money and dispersing it to (some)local law enforcement agencies, not quite the same but similar.
