Lets suppose you are invited to a tv show

the show offers you 50000$!!!!!

however, a second contestant is also invited to the show. it could be anyone, you don't know who it is. Just a random american male or female. You don't see him, and he don't see you either. You cannot talk to him.

You have to decide how much of the prize you offer to him.

Then the second contestant will get the following offer: "Your opponement has offered you X$ out of the 50000$, and he will keep the rest. do you accept the offer? if you refuse, everything will go to charity and you will both get nothing"

If your opponement refuse, all of the money will go to charity and you will both get NOTHING.

If you offer him too little, he might just go "fuck off asshole, this is going to charity, i don't care about the little ammount of money you offered me". Keep in mind the contestant knows hes on TV, and by refusing, he will look like an hero on Tv which is nice.
But if you offer him too much, you might miss out on serious EV.

Of course if your lucky, you might get a contestant who will accept any ammount of money because he is poor.

So the question is:
What is the optimal ammount of money to offer to the other person?

Note: do not answer what you would do, only answer the OPTIMAL, a ammount a selfish person should be offering, someone who doesnt care about charity or the other contestant.

we did this question in a economics class. Ideally, you should offer anything >0 and the other person should take it since anything >0 is, well greater than 0. But clearly, people will spite refuse if the amount is so low. I don't know, I will think about it and respond later.

What the he'll does he care, 5k is 5k. No one is so herioc when they are poor to throw away 5k so a charity has 50k.
