poker books are outdated these days with so many training sites, but any decent book echos the important things that are in Theory of Poker by Sklansky and will give you the basic stuff that you need to know

its sad when the op asks a honest question and 8/10 people try to be "funny" and give it sacarstic replies

doyle's book to me got it started. very easy to read, brief and concepts easily explained whereas i find sklansky books hard to read

i really don't like these books i think people who play micro stakes can instantly get much better by reading them but then it just stunts their growth after that because the thought processes are just hazy or outright bad

i much prefer the sklansky books where he doesnt tell you what to do but just tells you some factors that could influence your decisions.. they're not the pinnacle of poker instruction but i do think they have the best value for your money

i think "no limit holdem theory & practice" helped me the most back when it came out it just had a ton of stuff that no one else told me about before and were really important.. and "theory of poker" is the best book when you start out i think but i read it way too late.. those 2 books might be the reverse of harrington books in that they wont instantly make your skill level go way up but they will give you the most growth in the long run by teaching you to think in the right way

at the same time i don't like the sklansky books/parts of books where he actually tells you what to do though, that way of teaching poker just outright sucks and often the instructor gives a really subobtimal or even bad strategy (just look at my beginner's guide which I still think should be taken down and frankly i wonder if people can even win in today's micros by following it)

although some people do start out with one of these "in situation x do x" books like harringtons or my beginners guide and they manage to beat micros with it at the start and then later learn the good way to think and forget about the crap they were fed early, that's probably the ideal way where u skyrocket at start and still get the longterm growth but i think that's hard for a lot of people

mathematics of poker is another book i really like but its frustratingly difficult to read when really they could have made their (excellent) points in a more easy way
