surprised no one tried to steal his $32

We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.

Lulz. You have idiot musicians playing on the subway all the time. You train yourself to ignore them. Only tourists stop and pay attention.

Now I really am a busto. Thanks FTP.

byrnesam i am confident you couldn't appreciate those (bach's) pieces even if you were completely bored and he came ringing to your door and suddenly played them for you. i'm also sure you feel more alive posting a photoshopped picture on here rather than listening to him.

The fact that the vast majority can't distinguish a superb violinist from a good one in circa 5 seconds is killing you?

what kills me is how few people are even drawn to it. if i really had to get somewhere absolutely i would try to stay for as long as i could. people are just passing by completely oblivious. any real music lover is going to feel pretty damn bad watching that scene.

LOL having been brought up on listening to classical music and attending many classical concerts of all types I'd just like to say thank you for reinforcing the pompous asshole stereotype that others have of people who listen to classical. Just because you can't grasp what he is saying and that he weighs keeping a job higher than listening to music for 45 mins does not equate to him having no appreciation for music.

And bynesam would be missing out on nothing if that were the case. Just as you find beauty from music, in this case a virtuoso playing bach, does some one else find beauty from _Boxer_ from back in the day. Just because, before your very eyes, you can see boxer pull off magic, or for your ears, you can hear such beauty resonate from a violin, does not mean persons who are oblivious are missing out. You cannot feel loss for what you never knew, or, understood, and what you never knew, can never effect you emotionally.

read my initial post for fuck sake. i don't have a job so there's no way in hell anything would've stopped me from appreciating it. what pisses me off is that i know few people are even DRAWN to it, whether they could stop or not. byrnesam had no reason to even reply to my post i was just expressing its effects on me and he is using rush hour as an excuse for people not stopping by and i'm saying it's fucking bullshit and he's part of the people who wouldn't stop no matter what because they can't appreciate it.

oh and im SO SORRY for giving you and your elite circle of friends a bad rep because i despise philistines... go fuck yourself. your post is the most pompous shit i've seen in a long time on here, hint: nobody gives a fucking shit about your life and what you've been subjected to as a classical listener.

Well think about it...

Boss: Hey Mr. Smith why are you late to work today?
You: Sorry Sir, I was on my way to work when I heard this amazing violinist, I had to stop and at least listen to one of his pieces.
Boss: Oh in that case........, well get to work now.

Would be cool if this study was done on a Saturday, Sunday, on Black Friday, people going to a sporting event, etc. but shiet man, people need to get to work. Plus it's hard to recognize beauty you have nothing to compare it with. If I was walking through that area and wasn't in a rush, I probably would have stopped and listen for a few minutes but I wouldn't be able to appreciate it for what it truly is because I'm not able to distinguish between poorly performed classical music to exceptionally performed classical music unless it sounded like a 9 year old doing a recital.

Conclusion reached ? Little hint:

Odds are exactly 50%: it either happens or not

that has to be one of the most retarded post i've read in a long time. i didn't think wobbly could be beat with his comment about the violin but wow. if you're not trolling i don't know what to say. where did i even speak of missing out or feeling loss?

im sorry one of my favorite musicians died today and i am too pissed to keep my composure. i'm probably much better off ignoring this thread and its retarded opinions on music.

edit: this shit happens too often. someone should make a thread 'non-ROFL responses to ROFL thread' and keep the arguing there

Loco is just pissed because everyone else don't like the same music as he does. Def. ain't a matter of taste.

i'm pissed because its a bad fucking day for me and people are being extremely retarded in this topic like comparing bach with a starcraft pro gamer. i don't care what music people listen to and i don't go around telling people what to listen to, if it gives them solace that's all that matters. on the other hand, i care when art is being devalued by some arrogant assholes who find 'beauty' in the most artificial things and cant appreciate the real deal.

your comment is also really dumb because i appreciate a lot of music that other people on liquidpoker like

There's no such thing as "beauty" we could discover facts about. There are only subjective feelings on what is found beautiful. You cannot prove something to be more beautiful than something else.

I mean compare to foods: it's clearly silly to say that oranges are objectively better than bananas, those are matters of taste. So imo virtuosity in games such as chess or sc can be as great as virtuosity in musics.
