Can we have an NBA betting thread as the season is starting? I don't know how but it would be cool if someone can scrape the matchups.

You can have any thread you want, you just have to keep it updated so that people will want to keep visiting it, thus keeping it alive.

The daily fantasy thread that Tim mentioned started off as a good idea, but it fizzled out after the most recent NBA season ended.

pumped for the NBA season but i'm probably going to stick to DFS mostly...

5Dimes odds to win championship:

Cavs (+300)

Spurs (+500)

Dubs (+520)

Thunder (+785)

Clips (+1145)

Bulls (+1785)

Rockets (+2085)

at first glance i like the Rockets' price even though the West is brutal. if Lawson can keep his drinking under control he should be a huge upgrade over Terry/Prigioni.

MVP odds:

Lebron (+275)

Brow (+440)

Durant (+550)

Curry (+600)

Harden (+700)

RWB (+1200)

CP3 (+1600)

Griffin (+2000)

Rose (+3300)

LMA (+3300)

Kawhi (+3500)

don't think anyone below that is realistically worth mentioning. really feels like Brow's year to me, also think Griffin is interesting at that price. it seems strange to me that Rose is still given a slightly higher chance than Kawhi given how the last few years have gone.

they used to have season win totals up but i can't find them anymore, i guess they take them down once preseason starts?

also just a PSA for anyone on Bovada don't bet their NBA futures, their odds are terrible.

I like Bulls price and Clippers price the most. Clippers lineup is riduclous.

Chris Paul is the best point guard in the league overall. And the rest of the team is a scary lineup now, the only thing that kept them from finals last year was the lack of depth.

I wonder if the Bulls can beat the Cavaliers, I would be more interested in Bulls Eastern Conference price.

Rockets aren't going anywhere, I thought they would last year but now I've realized they can't.

OKC at peak could win it all. Spurs I don't see doing anything other than making playoffs, I don't think Aldridge gives them what they need at all.

I wouldn't fuck with the MVP bets at all, those odds just look awful and it could be any one of them.
I'm also new to NBA, don't take my words to mean anything.

I would agree with you that the Rockets seem reasonably priced.

Also I would say if you liked the Bulls price, then probably the Heat at better odds would be more preferably imo. They have a really interestingly put together team that if meshes well, could beat the Cavs (and everyone else in the East).

With that said, I would just stay the hell away from all these bets before the season even starts though.

The o/u's for teams' win totals would be something where you might be able to find some value...

I was wrong about the Rockets, they have a shot. I forgot about Patrick Beverly, he was really missed in the play-offs last year.

Spurs are really really fucking good. That team improved. Leonard got better, hes the best player I've seen this season. They all play better together, they have Aldridge. Just a monsterous team.

Ginobili fixed his shooting, Diaw makes incredible decisions, and Patty Mills improved a lot. They play Parker less who kind of sucks (from what I've seen) and have Kawai Leonard and Aldridge roaming around. Throw in Tim Duncan and Danny Green and its just a monstrous team.

lol i meant after the first half of the Blazers game where he was basically invisible vs. a Portland frontcourt that's supposed to suck. first game of the year he seemed like he wasn't himself too. he did turn it on in the 4th q vs Portland after he got that first dunk though.

probably tired after the first game with a short injured lineup. I really wanted to bet Portland that game simply because of that at 1.72. Because Pelicans had to play shorthanded then travel and play shorthanded again.

I just feel cheated for information in NBA betting, I see a "good" line and bet it, then a lot of times some unlisted very important injury or unlisted return like Chris Paul or Jrue Holiday+Omar Asik takes place and it turns into a bad bet. I feel like the bookies have access to all this information, and I don't know the solution. I use http://www.rotoworld.com/teams/injuries/nba/all/ and a few others for injuries, but a lot of times its listed as gametime, while I feel that insiders have a much better access to the information. =

I'm still at 5.1% ROI since the start of the season, but its hard to make good decisions when you're behind on information like that. Will see at the end of the season.

sometimes if you follow team beat writers on Twitter they get that info out 5-10 mins earlier than bulk aggregators like rotoworld or basketball monster.

CP3 info came out well before gametime tonight. obviously that part doesn't help if you bet before it came out.

but his groin injury was a known factor and if you look at the line movement today it's hard to come up with any other factor that would move the line so much toward Phoenix, Reddick was already factored in and probably wouldn't move the line that much anyway (obviously easy for me to say in retrospect).

not being critical just offering a perspective. the way it effects me isn't quite the same since i play DFS. probably doesn't matter if you bet the opening line, but the way you talked about checking rotoworld and info coming out late i assume that wasn't the case.
