Reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward were attacked during a live broadcast, shooter was another guy previously fired by the TV station. Two dead, one more injures, looks like the suspect shot himself.

There is a video from the shoting and SECOND ONE recorded from point of view by the shooter himself, you can find it if you want (no blood, but still pretty graphic and depressing) in comments at reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/news/comment..._crew_shot_on_live_tv_wdbj7_video_in/

I have kind of struggled with this thought of whether or not it is a good idea to willingly expose yourself to someone getting brutally killed. I saw a video when I was in high school and it made me feel really shitty. I don't think its healthy to expose oneself to it willingly.

To know it happened, not be ignorant of the world, and to hope the best for the family's is a different story.

Depends on why you are doing it, I guess. I also watched video of a beheading in high school. My friend just told me I "had to watch this video". It made me feel pretty bad for a while, and I was angry at him.

But, death is part of life. So is suffering. As a buddhist(or something along those lines), I don't really think it is ultimately healthy to be afraid of anything. It's more healthy to understand it.

So I guess it is a flaw of mine that I still get a sick feeling in my stomach at the thought of watching a video of someone dying or being tortured or whatever. It's not as bad as it used to be but it's still there.

I think you're supposed to get a sick feeling about that

Whenever I watch something like this I come away feeling I learned something. For instance in the POV video he just casually strolls up to the reporters and pulls a gun on them, but they dont even notice. He sits there, gun drawn, and they continue about their interview. He cant be more than 5 feet away, and they just keep chatting away. It's surreal. Obviously reporters are trained to ignore lookie-loo's in the background because they're used to it, but in a way seeing how this whole thing went down feels like something filed away deep in my memory banks now. "Note to self: always be aware of your surroundings" kind of thing. The shock value also serves a purpose; next time you fire an irritable fucktard think about what he's capable of and plan accordingly.

bye now

Saw this earlier, they are all just doing their jobs which at that particular moment kept them oblivious to the shooter. Absolutely horrible thing to happen to them and by all accounts they seemed like great people.

How is that a flaw? It would be pretty bad if you watched a video of guy getting tortured and didn't feel anything about it.

real tragedy of this thing is Mr. Robot getting pushed back a week

Not to be insensitive but i just don't get it. Robot has a scene similar to negative RL events that hit close to home so we don't air it.

Meanwhile we have the investigation discovery channel that airs/profits off of straight murder porn. Graphic depictions of females getting raped strangled and eaten.

Look at the news; don't let this bastard affect us all by not airing a show we want to watch.

We need more good reporters with guns so they can stop the bad reporters with guns

I guess it would be more of a test of your Buddhism if you were the one getting shot.

Religious thinking. It can convince you that the most normal of human (or animal) behavior is not normal and "to be overcome."

But mirror neurons are a thing. I'm pretty sure no one destroys them through a process of spiritual enlightenment. It would kind of make a neat sarcastic meme actually.

But how come we naturally get appalled when we see those kinds of things?

Or maybe if you get someone who wasn't exposed in our society, let's call him Mowgli. And let him watch a beheading of a 3 month old baby. Will he feel anything?
