I'd be careful about approaching this whole thing man, but then again if you believe in it then do it, just be careful. Governments can be real assholes about shit like this.

It seems very absurd to me that some people think he should go free if he is indeed that pirate guy.

Yea the guy just made the market he wasn't selling anything illegal himself. Just making money from transaction fees.

Calling Ross a drug dealing kingpin and holding him responsible for people selling illegal things on SR is basically the same thing as the government holding Kim Dot Com responsible for people trading pirated files over megaupload which I think we can all agree was wrong of the government to do.

Neilly dude while u might be right in that snider doesn't stand to benefit personally from his aid offer (unless you consider doing self-fulfilling things as intrinsically valuable) just about everything you else you said was wrong and scaremongering. Helping a guy who is already in the legal system behind bars through legal means is obviously no crime. Remember he is an alleged criminal at this point so they couldn't even possibly be "aiding a felon" or anything like that. If what you said was true it would be impossible for even the accused to hire lawyers. ridiculous.

Ross Ulbricht is a non violent man who did nothing other than create a marketplace that facilitated black market transactions. You think he deserves to be locked in a cage for years on end as though he was a wild dangerous animal; a constant threat to the public's physical wellbeing? of course not.

Big 5, Walmart Etc. sell guns
pharmacies on every corner sell drugs

but since ross didn't have a license from the government to build the store for other people to come in and sell their wares he should go away forever? That is bullshit to me.

Ross provided a valuable service to our society if anything. Kept people from having to deal face to face with violent criminals when buying drugs for personal use (thats mostly what the site was; just a retail drug market where people could have really overpriced drugs mailed to their house. The other stuff with hits and guns was pretty overblown. I've never personally used or bought a thing from any SR or similar site).

i believe if you help in this situation, you are an accomplice to a criminal organization that can only negatively affect your life in the laws eyes, and the only positives you will gain will be illegal, making you a true gangster.

supporting someone that sells illegal guns drugs and hit men is fucking retarded. tieing yourself into this type of shit because you "have a good heart and want to show it" is really dumb, have you ever met him? you have no idea of what this guy is like. you just kinda like his service that is illegal as shit.

he made fucking millions of this and his sentencing seems very very short. financial crimes always are in America.

You'd think an unapologetic drug user who was forced to go play poker in another country wouldn't be on the govt.s dick as much as he is.

i have to admit the highlight of my lp experience was watching Neilly's degeneration. I especially enjoyed it when he was playing FrinkX and that other LP guy for rolls. I know he smoked FrinkX then donated it to some other LP baller. That was entertainin shit

Update: Neilly as much as we gave you shit, you're still part of the community. I root for you to succeed

in the united states criminal justice system there is a presumption of innocence

it is in some sense redundant to say "illegal drugs" and the world is quite big there are countries that have different degrees of decriminalization and legality

also i don't think you are in the position to say the silk road is illegal as shit. what country's laws have jurisdiction over an internet marketplace. i'm also not an internet lawyer i don't know enough to comment

i also agree with trax that probably an amazon.com for drugs like this is safer for dissociating drugs from violent crime or whatever while also keeping people's rights to their own bodies (if that's what trax was saying it sounded close anyway don't want to put words in his mouth)

i was going to bring up kim dotcom also i mean where is the prosecution of larry page i just watched a movie that was uploaded to youtube

furthermore i have found some news also that raise questions about some technical things the FBI said they did. there really won't be enough information until after the case i guess to understand what's really happening. also none of the (bullshit?) hitman charges seemed to stick and let's just say it wouldn't surprise me to find out that another US prosecutor was lying through their teeth

finally i don't think the silk road sold hitmen and guns. it's true i think that you can buy hitmen and guns on the deep web (I think. also on the normal web like in the 90s) but not on the silk road specifically afaik. either way the traffic was largely for drugs. and as said earlier you can also buy guns at walmart. if i had to guess i would think the people who made the site weren't traffickers they just collected commissions but the facts will come out i hope

This is fucking gold. I didn't know you had it in you snider haha

btw, big on you for helping the guy out. Unfortunately (as you said) they're going to make an example out of this guy.

Maybe if the judge screws up too much, the appeal will run smoother.
