I'm happy to inform you that I have not yet had a psychotic break and am still pumping.

I've been recording all my drug intake by dosage and time with the exception of nicotine for the past 18 months. The reason I've excluded nicotine is because my intake has been minimal and it's difficult to keep track of.

I started making a few charts of the various drugs in my system (removing the more illicit ones) based on half-life and dosage, but realized how much time it was taking me and haven't finished them yet. Basic schedule now is exercise daily. Drugs - cycle through caffeine and modafinil with nicotine on the side. Then at least once every 2 months go completely straight edge for a couple weeks to recapture full effectiveness of the drugs.

Results:

Sleep - I'm getting more sleep than ever, at least over the past 7 years of recorded data. I'm averaging around 7 hours 20 minutes a night now. My efficiency unfortunately doesn't seem to be any better. REM and SWS is about the same as when I was getting 6h30m, but light sleep is longer. Lucid dreams have decreased to about 1 in every 6 cycles.

Physical Exercise - Probably the most noticeably positive effect. I've exercised 27.78% of days over the past 18 months. It's been mostly jogging, although I've switched a couple months ago to doing the Insanity workouts which seem more efficient. My resting heart rate has gone from low 70s to low 60s over the past year. I measure it first thing when I wake up. My body fat was gradually increasing and skeletal muscle gradually decreasing until I switched to Insanity. Body fat hit an all time high of 20% and over the past couple months it's declining back and currently at 18% with skeletal muscle at 42%. My weight range over the past 18 months has stayed within a narrow 118-124 lbs range and is currently 122.

Brain Exercise - There are many tools and services out there for improving brain plasticity. Unfortunately most of them are pretty gimmicky or are only good for so long before you just master the games you're playing. My current exercise on this front is: Brain-n-back, Anki (memorized 1600 new items in the past 13 months), learning French, and learning guitar. My progress on all fronts has been awesome and really helps reinforce the practice.

Nicotine - In my last report I hadn't realized any of the benefits. I believe this was because I had such a low tolerance that I would get light headed quickly. After a few weeks of a more deliberate use, my tolerance level increased to a point where I can use it for a quick mental pick-me-up. I use it a couple times daily except during clean weeks.

Modafinil - Still the most effective drug I've ever taken for concentration. It lasts about 7 hours and I take it 3 days in a row (200mg -> 100mg -> 100mg) about once every 2-3 weeks. I do need to have a reminder to eat while on it since my appetite is suppressed. If I don't, then when it begins wearing off I'm extremely hungry.

Diet - I eat 4-5 meal a day. Recently I've began replacing one meal a day with Soylent that would have otherwise been fast food.

Conclusions:

Since I'm putting so much more effort towards all these life health activities (exercise, brain, sleep), my time spent working has taken a hit and I'm averaging closer to 70 hours a week. I take one full weekend off a month and make that a really nice vacation somewhere or attend a big event every 2 or 3 months. Also June I take a lot of time off to play WSOP events and attend EDC. Overall I feel the quality of my work is staying high and productivity hasn't suffered.

Future:

I think for now I'll stick with the Insanity workouts and I think within 6 months I can be down below 14% body fat again. I might try to change it up if I hit a plateau.

The Emotiv Insight I ordered on Kickstarter is scheduled for delivery in December. I plan on wearing that quite a bit and keeping a detailed set of data for analysis. It'll be really nice to correlate drugs and exercise directly to brain performance data over an extended period of time.

A mid-term goal is to get to a conversational level in French where I can find a partner to speak with once a week to maintain that level of fluency and also read some comics in French. Some of my long term stretch goals are learning Japanese, how to play piano, and hitting a billion+ in net worth.

Feedback:

If you have any feedback on exercise with efficiency measured by amount of time spent with the goal being overall brain health I'd like to hear it. It's an important area that my knowledge of is very limited.

Drugs. I've tried most nootropics and related so I've got a good grasp in this area, but I'll still take feedback.

Holy crap, you've atomised the human condition. Looking forward to further reports...

Researchers used brain scans to show that when straight men looked at pictures of women in bikinis, areas of the brain that normally light up in anticipation of using tools, like spanners and screwdrivers, were activated.

Replace everything you are doing with smoking tons of marijuana for one week or one month out of one of ur cycles. See if productivity goes up or down

Based on prior experience and knowledge of the drug, my hypothesis is a sharp decrease in productivity. I don't have a strong enough reason to believe in the possibility that it would actually increase productivity to warrant this experiment. ^_^

Building tech companies. I have significant equity in two quickly growing multi-million dollar companies that I helped start and now help out where I can. I also have my own company that is rapidly growing. There have been numerous opportunities to sell and be in great shape financially, but that's not how you become a billionaire. To actually reach a billion I may be on a multi-decade long path, but the plan is basically build, sell or IPO, repeat. It's extremely high variance to be all skin in the game since your actual income is a fraction of what it would be as an employee and you always have the possibility of just crashing and burning to nothing. I'm not even sure exactly how many companies I've had fail before I got to where I am now. You get better and further each time. I've also built up a significant network of entrepreneurs and investors that I will continue to grow and will make my path easier.

goddamn son. +1 on crazy blog.

out of curiosity why $1 bln? don't you think there's a huge dropoff in functional/happiness utility after like $10-20 million or something (probably a lot less for some people)?

In the span of time before a company gets investment, you have to fund all efforts out of your own pocket. For me this meant sleeping on an air mattress for months, eating like I was in college again, doing consulting work a few hours each week on the side enough to cover rent, food, and gas while maxing out credit cards to $30k in the hole. Before that I was living in a $7MM house with unnecessary luxuries and still spending like a poker player, so a pretty vast transition.

Not that I wouldn't or don't take advantage of the luxuries money brings, it doesn't influence my happiness that much. If I made $80k/year or $20MM I imagine my happiness would be about the same.

To answer your question, I can't even begin to do the things I want to without a lot of capital. Even if I had a billion I still couldn't afford to, but I could at least get started and hopefully have enough influence and connections to fill the gaps where needed. I consider amassing wealth and learning as much as possible about running businesses as step 1. I'm aware of how crazy my ambition sounds, so I try to break it all down into separate smaller and slightly more attainable goals.

1st: You are completely insane.

2nd: Have you tried exercising "high" on modafinil? I've always wondered if it could be of any use during 1 max rep attempts or grueling training sessions in general.

All modafinil does is bring your brain to your most alert state. It certainly keeps you from getting mentally exhausted so I'd imagine it would help you get through a tough training session if you took it half way through the session as you were becoming drained.

1st: I hear this somewhat often. I try to surround myself with others at a comparable level of insanity.

2nd: I haven't, but I imagine it's very effective. I know people who do.

Yes.

It's an intense experience considering how little time actually elapses. I'll also never forget the smell.
Report:
Listening to trance, I take as deep of a hit as I can of the harsh smoke and breath out while closing my eyes. My friend grabs the pipe from me and I immediately fall back completely unable to move. Not only am I completely paralyzed, but I feel like gravity is so strong that there is pressure on every part of my body. Then the geometric patterns appeared changing in time with the beat of the music. Triangles, circles, squares, then much more complex patterns. My eyes were still closed this entire time.
I see a wireframe of a world, and a gigantic owl looking at me, then it was just the owl's head, then just its eyes.
From the distant horizon of this wireframe world the top half of a clown stretches all the way over to me and reaches out its arms. Its hands are near my head right near my eyes and then with a quick turning motion or a flick it turns the whole universe around and I'm in a real world (non-wireframe). The colors are vibrant and I remember a landscape of a field. I can at this point hear my friends lightly talking. It is very similar to when you're waking up from a dream and hear external noise. I remember where my real body is and try to move my arm a little bit with some success. I don't remember much else besides when I finally opened my eyes and it being completely over, less than 15 minutes later.
