Wire is probably my favourite show of all time. I've watched it twice now, will probably watch it again next year. Someone wrote how they thought it seemed too fake, I thought the opposite. Well, mind you, I've never been a gangster, so I'm not really sure how thugs talk to each other. But Stringer seemed like a champ.

@fira - watch a few more episodes, I think you'll really enjoy it. I personally love that show. I dunno how long they'll be able to (entertainingly) prolong it for though.

Well I'm far from a gangster and I can't really explain to you why it exactly felt fake or whatever but watch this doc..it'll give you a better idea of some things I'm talking about.

It is basically a doc about how cops were able to install cameras and audio recording inside a house that a bunch of well known drug dealers in the area decided to rent out and use it as a stash house. Pretty incredible and obviously as realistic as it gets.

Normally when I see villains in movies and series, i smirk, and think, I'd do this, and then I'd do that, and I'd just do this, I'd be fiiiine!!

But in Fargo... I'm more like "... Okay. I'd do everything in my power not to get in his way, or get on his bad side."

I'm not a gangster either, but it has to be underlined that authors of this series David Simon and Ed Burns may well know the Baltimore gangster scene. First one is a police reporter who has spent one year in the homicide department of Baltimore and second one served 20 years in Baltimore police department. And in the cast there are some real life gangsters:
Snoop was a "mid-level operative in the Baltimore drugs trade who had been released from jail four years earlier after serving time for second-degree murder."

Lamar (bodyguard of brother Mouzone) was also a drug addict and drug dealer in Baltimore and actually inspired Simon in the writing of the Corner and next The Wire. I remember reading a good article about him when he died because of drugs. Not sure if it is this one :

There are others like this. I am not saying that it shows that it is close to real but I do think that it's better than a Denzel Washington personification.

As others I would place the Wire way above other series. I am watching it for the third time and still impressed by some powerful scenes. I am not sure that I would watch Breaking Bad or Games of Thrones and be as enthusiast.

An 86-year-old actor on the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” died Friday just days into filming his scenes for its upcoming season.

JJ Murphy was an actor from Ireland who had been cast to play Ser Denys Mallister, the oldest member of the Night’s Watch and longtime Shadow Tower watchman in the fifth season of “Song of Ice and Fire,” the Guardian reports.

The cause of his death is unknown, but his agent Phillip Young did say the seasoned actor was “absolutely delighted” to be given a role “in one of the biggest productions in the world at this stage in his career.”

Murphy’s career began in the 1940s as a theater actor in Northern Ireland.

Young called the actor’s death a “tragic loss,” but added that Murphy had enjoyed a “long and full career.”

Producers of “Games of Thrones” have not yet said if they would be recasting Murphy’s role or if they would remove the scenes he already filmed.

Interesting read about a guy's theory comparing GoT to ancient mythology (good but somewhat long). I don't think it contains any spoilers. Basically I guy predicting certain things to happen based on his theory.

Just finished the season 4 finale.

It's not in the books yet but obvious to me that Brandon stark (the crippled one) will ultimately control the dragons with his powers; probably to fight whatever descends from the north

HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones will be down another Stark in the upcoming season—Bran Stark and his trusted companion Hodor will not appear in Season 5. Kristian Nairn, who plays the giant Hodor (catchphrase: “Hodor”) in the series, told an Australian broadcast network that both he and the actor who plays Bran will be on hiatus during Season 5. “We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books,” Nairn said.

If he's in season 5, he'll probably be added to the show in the form of "flashbacks." There's a bunch of stuff they can show with Tywin in the form of flashbacks.
