I met villain again tonight, sat directly to his left and chatted with him for awhile. He's a nice guy and it was easy to get on his good side. He confessed to having 2 pair, A4 on the turn, thought it was the nuts. His logic for shoving the river? "There was already so much money out there".

I'm probably being very results oriented at this point, but goddamnit if I saw this play out on my computer screen, with cards in plain sight and stack/pot visible, I'm pretty sure I could make the call if not outright ship turn. I suck, sigh....

is 3 5 not a possible hand? not the easiest snap shove playing so deep when it was limped 9 ways preflop. Also sometimes poker players lie about their hands. maybe im just a nit.

Just do whats right

Anything besides shoving turn with reads given seems bad

ask yourself if he would really raise turn shove river with A4 in such a spot now that you've played with him more, I think if he's any decent he is just messing with you

Looks like a standard shove turn, though I'd probably be really sad if I lost 6 BI to a hard cooler.

35hh is pretty much only hand that beats you...44 folds flop and 35o will likely fold flop given reads. AQ is v likely and sometimes A4 as well. AA/QQ you can discount most or if not all of those combos given it's a limped pot (yes live players do limp AA/QQ often but not often enough to where you can give all the combos of AA/QQ vs said villain)...but this is all generally speaking

"He usually calls most hands preflop up to 6xBB ($30). He's raised preflop twice in the last 6 hours to 5xBB ($25) both times from UTG, once with " This statement also leads me to believe villain almost never has AQ/QQ/AA here

In spots like these it's probably a good fold given villain is a dumb nit. and would have probably stuck a raise in there somewhere with AQ on the flop...he called TWICE. 35hh seems like the most likely hand.

I think turn is well played, and i would call river as well. The reason is that, although the river is a pretty big scarecard, is doesn't really help his turn minraise range. I think the odds of him having you beat here are very small, and that 2pair is by far his most likely holding. The logic he described to you in pushing A4 on the river, to me, is standard live donkey logic.

FWIW, I also hate raising turn vs live donkeys, they minraise for value but can get scared and fold to a push. Best to call, and call any river except an ace.

Seems like you are playing scared money vs a very bad player and folding the top of your range to aggression. Lose lose situation. You also cant call turn just to fold to that river.

id probably to 700 on turn vs that guy but any raise is ok just dont call.
tho you are def stuck calling river as played

1/2/5 is not NL 200

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same

This and what Tom said above. I don't see that guy raising turn with unmade hands, so he almost never "gets there on the river." In fact, given his change in behavior from passive to aggressive from flop to turn, I say the turn card helped him. I would definitely lean his range towards turned 2-pairs. I would say that this river never changes anything here. So unless you put him on 53 and were drawing to a full house, this is a snap call.

I think it's. 10 ways.

if I had only 200 to buy in for and had built that up to 1400 I'd get up and leave.

NewbSaibot   United States. Nov 13 2013 00:27. Posts 4943

Yes it was a 10 way limped family pot. I bring 300BB's and buyin for 100BB a pop. I dont think it's even so much that I'm terrible at deepstack play, I just wasnt willing to lose $1400 plain and simple. It is a byproduct of me playing scared money and I realize that now. I'll still play NL200 but whenever I hit ~$800 I'll be cashing out.
