After-shock: where to play now?

Due to "The Black Friday" we are seeing a lot of changes on the poker market - some poker rooms are shutting down for USA players, some are cutting on guaranteed prize pools, but on the other hand - some poker rooms are increasing rakeback and putting in additional money on their tournaments! 1. Hero Poker, part of Merge network ( USA allowed )

why is hero poker allowed for usa players? PS and FTP are not allowed soley based on the fraud and money laundering despite online gambling already being illegal in the usa? I'm assuming heropoker is based somewhere in europe and hoping doesn't do anything "illegal".

This. I lol'ed when I saw pokerstars on the list of suggested sites. Also, I thought Heropoker and it's CEO's actions were extremely professional up-to-date, and am surprised that they're allowing the large influx of american players onto their sites considering the current legislation and issues brought forth. Nah, we listed sites for all kind of players, as euro players from AB/UP will be probably moving as well, and some people are going to drop FTP as well due to ~50% loss in traffic.

So if I get the 50% rakeback on Unibet, will it be taken off 31 July and I dont get rakeback longer?

Heropoker and others are just accepting US players hoping to fly under the FBI's radar being sites too small to be worth their effort in shutting down. I mean there cant be any other reason, because clearly the gov't has made it's stance. I seriously doubt any of these smaller networks have the funds to back 100% of accounts if they get shut down, so play there, scoop some money, and withdraw regularly keeping no more than 10% of your roll online or something and rape some fishes while you still can.

Cake poker seems to work for me.

I dont keep more then 3 buy-ins * amount of tables I play anywhere, lol.

For europeans just keep the rest on MB with security token, which makes hacking literally impossible unless somebody has a physical access to ur security token.

Just a couple of points:
1. I actually haven't promoted Hero anywhere since this has happened, so please don't misunderstand that this post is my effort at promotions, but at LP, of course I'm fine with it as I do mainly post here. But I've taken off Hero from the rakeback page at PocketFives once the US thing happened and will likely be terminating our affiliate/marketing agreement at the end of this month mainly because they are nearly entirely US focused.

2. Ironically, our site sign ups haven't changed in volume and we have very few US players seeking us out, mainly because other sites are spamming and we are still a relatively very new site. But I can't say that, strategically, I am not enjoying the increased liquidity on the network, which our existing players are definitely benefiting from. Other than on LP and P5s, we do not have a strong online presence precisely because we are going to launch with mainstream promotions (which hasn't changed).

3. So while I haven't blocked US players, I haven't promoted either and am close to making a decision on it, I am definitely not for short term gain, if it risks the company, brand and our players. But more than what I've written on the forums, I have had many much harder questions that I've been looking into to ease my own peace of mind and have been restructuring our corporate strategy accordingly over the last week so that I am in a position that we can personally guarantee the safety and security of our player's balances and continue to do business.

4. That being said, it's not my job to simply avoid risk, but to make the company work the best it can, so on both sides, I didn't want to make a reactionary decision by either shutting out US players on our site or simply going gun-ho forward on it, but for the moment, any player I get from LP I can take care of on a personal level regardless of my final decision.

5. I am based out of South Korea as my family is here, but our staff is based out of Australia.

And I agree, it is short sighted and irresponsible for a site to be promoting and opening its doors without abandon to US players- I doubt any site has been able to restructure to ensure that their player base is as secure as can be, while I know the network has done its best to quickly adapt, I personally am not just leaving it in the hands of the network. Once I'm able to find a balance or not, I will be very clear in my position, but I truly don't want you be misinformed about my position here. Outside of LP, Hero Poker is not promoting whatsoever online.

7. And the real long term pain would be having a target painted on my head from the DOJ, for whatever reason, and South Korea has a very nice and hassle free extradition treaty with our main allies,the USA.

and I got a PM at P5s as well about this, what is Hero's stance and I'm likely to make a forum statement today, nothing 'official', but on here and P5s.

Playing on any site if you are a US citizen sounds absolutely retarded.

Even if the site never got shut down getting any money out would be extremely sketchy. How would poker sites be able to pay their players? Don't think there is really any other way than 3rd party processors which have all got shut down and no ones going to be looking to do that.
