The organization of the World Series of Poker just released the schedule for the 40th edition of the most important annual tournament series of the world. The series will run from May 26 to July 15 and will follow the pattern of getting bigger and bigger every year, as this year's edition will have 57 events, two more than the last one. The fun will begin on May 28th for players from all around the world, and with a sick high roller event! The special $40,000 NLHE event is the first one open to the public and is going to celebrate the 40th year of the series.
As it was previously announced, there were some changes regarding the events. Probably the biggest news is that they cut out all of the rebuy events, saying those favored players with a bigger pocket. There will also be less $5,000 tournaments, but they are still in the series. On the positive side, they decided to add 2 more World Championship events, so now we will have 10 of them.
Harrah's has also announced a new event called "Stimulus event" that is going to be held on the first week of the series. This will be a $1,000 NLHE tournament, and the WSOP organization expects it to be the largest ever live-tournament field outside the Main Event.
The four-month hiatus between the Main Event and its final table will happen again. Despite some people not liking the idea, it worked as Harrah's and ESPN hoped and they are doing it once again.
