Continuing the recap we started a few days ago now we'll take a look back at week 2 of the World Series of Poker. Here's you'll see what events took place in week 2 and who won them. If you want to know more about the events, just click the link "Blog Post" just after that. We hope you enjoy reading it, we hope to bring you recaps of week 3, 4 and 5 soon as well. Of course we continue to reports on the events being played as well at http://wsopnb.liquidpoker.net/?type=wsop

Event 11: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout Blog post
Winner: Phil Tom Runner-up: Greg Mueller

The winner of this event, Phillip Tom was the only player who could say he won 3 tables in a row. The Shootout meant that every time they had to play the table down till there's just 1 left standing (or sitting), from 360 entrants to 36 to 6 at the final table, winning 3 tables meant getting the bracelet and Phillip Tom did just that.

Event 12: $1,500 Limit Hold'em Blog post
Winner: Jimmy Shultz Runner-up: Zac Fellows

After almost 2 hours of heads-up play, Jimmy Schultz bested his opponent, Zac Fellows and wins his bracelet. Genrous as he must be, Schultz said he'd donate 25% of his winnings to the Charlestown Fire Department!

Event 13: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em Blog Post
Winner: Duncan Bell Runner-up: Steve Merrifield

On a very short day (only 73 hands at the final table), both players got into what had to be the final hand: AA for Bell against the TT of Merrifield were the end of it, and made sure Bell won his first bracelet and a nice amount of $666,777 (what's that? Devilish luck?)

Event 14: $10,000 Seven-Card Stud World Championship Blog post
Winner: Eric Brooks Runner-up: Fu Wong

One of the least popular heads-up stages commenced, 2 unknown players fought for the bracelet in 7 card stud (which is limit). Eric Brooks won in the end, and, even more generous than Jimmy Schultz in event 12: he'll donate all of his winnings to the Decision Education Foundation! That's $415,856 worth of charity!

Event 15: $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em World Championship
Winner: Svetlana Gromenkova Runner-up: Anh Le

Anh Le had been here before, she finished 2nd in 2005, and now again she lost. This time it was Svetlana Gromenkova who got her first big win and a bracelet to go with it.

Event 16: $2,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better Blog post
Winner: Andrew Brown Runner-up: Ted Forrest

Andrew Brown beat his idol, Ted Forrest, after being behind in chips but overcoming this, and in the end, the Sideshow Bob-lookalike won his first bracelet, thus giving away his selfproclaimed title of "best online PLO player nobody knows".

Event 17: $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Shootout Blog post
Winner: Jason Young Runner-up: Mike Schwartz

Another shootout-even, this time with a lower buy-in thus attracting more people: 1000 players signed up for it. It was the same story as before: win 3 tables in a row and you get the bracelet. In the end it was all down to the heads-up, both players started with about even stacks, but when both players flopped top pair and got all-in, it was all over soon. Well, Schwartz did try to come back, but it didnt happen and Jason Young won his first bracelet.

Event 18: $5,000 No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball w/Rebuys Blog post
Winner: Mike Matusow Runner-up: Jeff Lisandro

Mike "The Mouth" Matusow definately put his money where his mouth was, he bested a very tough final table of all quality pro's when he in the end decided his Q-low should be enough to win it. Jeff Lisandro didnt get lucky and Mike was right, winning his 3rd bracelet.

Event 19: $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Blog post
Winner: Vanessa Selbst Runner-up: Jamie Pickering

The heads-up of this final table was unorthodox, to say the least. Jamie Pickering was drunk and happy to have made it, but it wasn't very surprising to see him NOT win the bracelet. At one point he played his hand without looking untill the turn, after which he looked and said "oh shit! I'm dead". In the end it was Vanessa Selbst who deserved the title the most and won her first bracelet.

Event 20: $2,000 Limit Hold'em Blog post
Winner: Daniel Negreanu Runner-up Ugur Marangoz

One of the most admired pokerplayers in the world, Daniel Negreanu, got his spot at a fairly unknown final table. Negreanu really felt like this was the one for him, he's been playing limit hold'em throughout most of his life (that's actually the way he built his roll at the start of his carreer), and in the end, 15 minutes of heads-up were enough to make sure he won his 4th bracelet. With the 204k prizemoney, he also won 200k from Phil Ivey for a bet they made for each bracelet won this year.

Event 21: $5,000 No Limit Hold'em Blog post
Winner: Scott Seiver Runner-up Dave Seidman

Scott Seiver really dominated the action at day 2 and 3 of this event, which gave him a huge chiplead coming into the final table, and he remained it throughout the day. In the end, a well-deserved bracelet was waiting for him.

Event 22: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. Blog post
Winner: Jens Voertmann Runner-up Doug Ganger

That HORSE had become more popular than before was something that could be seen by the 414 entrants to this event. On a quite tough final table we saw two fairly unknown players end heads-up. Jens Voertman started with a 2:1 chiplead over Doug Ganger and did only expand it, in the end knocking out Ganger and winning his first bracelet.

That's it for week 2, we wish everyone participating in the Main Event in the following days best of luck, hopefully we'll see you guys back at our reports about it, that means you're probably doing pretty well (or doing something completely stupid but catching the eye of the cameraman near you )
